It was a buzz surfing it regularly in the 1970's. No bodyboards back then, but blokes surfed it on surf mats, especially Steve Downey and Dave Shaw. It's a shame you didn't catch it bigger. It would sting the back of your ears and neck when it spat. Brought back memories.

U should try the third bommy out Infront of Cronulla beach way way out back at elouera. I was once out there all alone on a 5"6 board and it broke over every brake riding it, it's rough and massive left handed, it took ages to get to the bottom and it was the toughest as the current was flowing straight out from Infront of that rock pool, and it took me all the way about 500m past the break wall which is way on the right and 500or so metres out further then that, is where this monster, came in. As I paddled to the left, it was my only chance to get back in. And she was not smooth at all. Beaches closed, and I'm the only one, got taken out, as the big waves where in the current flowing out. So that wave was the toughest, my small board was bouncing everywhere, as the water was opposite of smooth. Bouncing around trying to keep me board from skipping away. Now I know how U big big wave riders go through on windy days. I looked back when I was riding this wave that felt like forever to compact with ya legs hard core. It was atleast the size of a two story building. Its a slow tall break, worth carving up, on a none windy day. I'm only telling this story as know one came out to get me. As I was tired from trying to get in, but the current is fast out there. So I was out about two football fields further out then the breakwall that was way inland and to my right, as I was looking out sea. I freaked and calmed down and thought, the only way back in, if I'm lucky, a massive set I had risen broke over all bommies. And had about 100 people watching, and did nothing. As had me hand up and all, but the beach was closed, and I guess, I can thank me lucky stars. Just me and a 5"6 thin board. My board was literally trying to bounce up left and right, from the choppy and wind. It's the biggest I've ever caught on a small board. It was hectic on me legs. But I managed. Then I hoped off it, close to the rock pool and waited for a little one to wash me up on to rocks. And jumped fence, and said to the crowd, didn't U see me hand up while drifting out.i said fuck U all , U cunts. Rather watch U die then get help. But I lived for the adrenaline and big wave riding. But not as big as U guys, just once. Is enough. A big wall came up from no where, thanking u.as I trained on skateboards on Newcastle grass hill section, that was about the same size. If U have seen that park area. It's a 100metre drop ride on grass and big wheels. Carve it up boys. good practice
