Let me know what you want to see made into a lure next! Need to get the creative juices flowing this year!
Just like 'HK' said in the comment section, you should make a Sockeye Salmon lure!
Axaloto. Crazy looking salamander from Central America I think. Would also be a great fun facts video.
You should make a scorpion lure
A bait made out of baking soda and superglue
I'm telling you that gyarados would be insane lol
This is what I imagine bluegill look like to people who are scared of fish biting them in a freshwater lake.
😂😂😂☠️
Bruh you laugh until they go for the nipples
Its why I dont go swimming in fresh-water or salt-water.
When the blugill [sic] are feeding in a school, they can completely dismantle a human body in less then 15 minutes
-google
You are sooooo wright🤣🤣🤣
A whole line of gnarly baits sounds like an idea
Yes
Dude I’d buy the whole set
Fo sho
Gnarling Baits lmao
This is a great idea! Some kind of gnarly open pour epic bait mold with teeth, I wanna see fish go after mini plastic Cthulhu's and whatever else crazy things they can dream up.
THE SIMPSONS 3 EYED FISH MADE INTO A LURE PLEASE!!!
Already has been done before. By Relic lures, very rare to find. It was made in four colors. They even made a whole set of Simpsons themed lures. I'm sure MB could make it even better.
F to the little shads that get a heart attack when this monster passes by.

Make a bait out of superglue and baking soda.
Call it bass crack LOL
I support this
That's actually a great concept lmao
Purely that would be pretty dope
Actually not a bad idea
On aesthetics alone, this thing approaches being a masterpiece. The fact that it has a decent action and held up to all that abuse confirms it.
Your wood carving videos are addictive as hell I can't stop watching them. You Sir are an artist!
Anybody else immediately think of Bob Ross when he dropped the “Yellow Ochre” on us?
he should have painted some happy trees on it as well
Yes.
Or every time he says White lol he says it the same way as him
It’s official: pallet boxes love Gnarly Bluegills
I'd love to watch an entire "gnarly" baits series!
Me too
This is “ofishally” my favorite bait he has made
I've seen you shrug off a badly snagged lure and write it off, but you REALLY wanted to get that gnarly bluegill back! Wow! Three rescue missions - well done...
Make a platypus, or a lure with the components of every lure, like a jointed deep diver with a feather treble and buzz blade.
I've made a perry the platypus bait on my channel
Cool. I'd like to try that. Thanks
Yeah deep diving duckbill platapus would be awesome
That thing can probably scare a musky 😂
You’ve outdone yourself... AGAIN!!! And I appreciate the color change when the snag occurs.
It is a testament to a creator ownership over his product of not wanting to lose his product.💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🧨🧨🧨🧨🧨🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Been waiting for this one a while, looks great, you should do a Sockeye Salmon Lure
That's a great idea! He should definitely do it!
Going with the gnarly theme of this bait, Nate should do a zombie (spawned out) salmon.
Definitely! Go fishing for Grizzlies!!!
Kokanee Salmon. Same species as Sockeye, just freshwater only and a bit smaller of a sub-species (more practical lure than a Roman Made).
That’s a good idea that would be a beautiful bait
This man sent me into cardiac arrest 3 times when he almost lost the lure
When all your paper towels are sticky, best to quit baiting for the day.
Underated comment if you understand it
I showed this to my mom without getting the joke first noooooo
YOOOOO!!
Why?
Haha
“…this stuff does stuff to stuff…” the most brilliant, even keeled quote of ever!
You know it’s a good bait when marling baits gets in a pontoon to get his lure back AND goes swimming for it😂😂😂😂
Dude. Spoilers! Lol
Shit I just commented that I should've looked before I spoke lol
Nate, you’ve just made a masterpiece!
It’s like watching Picasso as he paints Guernica. This is CZcams at its finest. Thank you!
I love Bluegill and panfish in general. I would love this as a display piece!!! Would def buy this!!!
You are like the Bob Ross of baits my friend love your work!
I would love so see a micro fuzzy caterpillar top water lure that swims in a tight s-motion! Maybe black and sunburst stripes like a woolly bear caterpillar
Probably would be a good top water lure for bass
This is an extremely good idea. A whole micro series would be awesome
When you cast the lure, the fish near by be like"What the he'll happend to you?!"
Lol great lure, hybrid of bluegill and piranha! nice one!
This is when you breed piranha with a bluegill LOL
You get a gnargilrana
it looks like the ones from Piranha 3D
I thought the same thing! Piranha bluegill!
I hope I can get some people to agree with me but I would love to see you revisit the snake lure in a much more fishable size SNAKE LURE
I've gotta say, at first the amount of ads on this scared me but it was worth it. You have to be one of the best lure makers I've ever seen. That is truly a work of art!
Love how hes like "its very difficult to control a power tool when you are doing something so delicate" and then goes and paints perfect lines on the fins with the dam dremel. Amazing fish you made
This thing is a beast of a lure.
I love how old Marlin' just nonchalantly listens to Tool as he makes this bait lol. On a serious not, he has been an inspiration for my attempts to make my own baits. Thank you and bless you sir!
Tool and Billie Strings
my bejeebus, you have become way more advanced as a wood-carver/manipulator/creator over the years…this one is jedi-ninja level 99! so badass, my dude!
I can't believe you really caught fish on that lure. Honestly really impressed.
Fish are surprisingly dumb especially if they are in feeding mode
@@bensmith4563 it might be territorial as well.
I motion that you make a Pokémon lure. Something utterly useless like a Magicarp to finally give it some honor if a bass makes it official
How about a nice balsa wood pokeball bobber/float
@@randomtube8226 imagine a full set of bobbers replicating the pokeballs in the games, including apricorn balls. That would make the most amazing display
Correction: dragon balls
Back from work with a slight headache and now I can relax with the sultry sounds of you. I'd like to see an angler fish with lots of fun facts. Maybe a soft plastic for the fishes head lure
“It’s going to be kinda small even with the tail like 6 inches” Damn
Those bass are savage and I would not have imagined they would take bait that size. But here we are. Solid video.
If you are going to be using water based "sealer" you might want to wet the surface first then let it dry. Lightly sand before sealing it. That should minimize the grain of the wood swelling when the sealer hits it. Known as "raising the grain". Cool looking bait!
Would love to see a gar crankbait. Could have the nose double as a lip.
Loved this. Reminds me of the old lowbrow art style. Thanks for doing it!
From now on, all baits should be gnarly. Looks badass and you had a blast making it.
You’re an amazing artist man.❤️
I’ve never seen Nate so determined to retrieve his lure back
Love the lure!!!!! Looks like it came out of where the creature from the black lagoon came from!!!!!!!
Wow! Fantastic art. I could NEVER use something that cool and pretty for bait.
"For a first coat, that's pretty detailed, that's pretty good."
I was thinking, "Wow! But first coat?!? I'd clear coat it and call it a day." Having watched the rest of the video, I clearly lack you vision. EFFing amazing work.
Bass: I think we’re just gonna let that swim on by, Bob.
This stuff does stuff to stuff...this is why I watch this channel, in depth commentary about the bait making process
ha! I finally figured out who you remind me of. (loving your videos by the way). wait for it....Jim Halpert from 'the Office'. LOL! ;-) I'd love to see a big leech lure by the way.
I think you should give the Wooden Chatterbait another try
I just imagine Steve-O looking at this gnarly bait and saying "Yeah duude"
Also, Alligator Gar bait?
"I could make this thing look... like it's having issues."
Dude that was the funniest shit ever.
Love the a exopy mixing contains upgrade!! From hook packaging to formula scoops 💞 👶
Looks like a Magikarp evolving into a Gyarados without the blinding light to shield us from the horror.
Hej should make a magicarp 😂👍
You missed your shot to say “gnarly” one more time when looking at the storm.
Nonetheless, very detail much wow. Top one or two of mine
Soooo gnarly dude!.NIGHT OF THE SWIMMING DEAD,,! You are now officially the Rick Baker of bait making! Loved this one.
Billy strings, Tool, the gnarliest bait creations ever…what more could you ask for?! Great work dude! I dig your style🤙 thanks for sharing
"they led pot is hot" is shirt material
Every time the camera zooms slowly in with a sharp tool in his hand I get anxiety because of the one time he slipped.
Crazy ive watched at least a dozen of your videos probably 2 dozen and this was the first episode i thought gosh what if he loses it out on the first couple casts. Then it happened. You make art. Im envious
Hey man, I appreciate the disconnect between knowing the function of a tool and how it actually functions! I'm a machinist and I have a suggestion for your hand broaching tool. If you used a slitting saw blade to form your tool out of it would stay wickedly sharp and resharpen w a few strokes on a stone. And slitting saw blades come in all sorts of precision thicknesses. Food for thought
Bit of creative juice here: I know you did the mirror carp, but what about a detailed carp with scales, fins and stuff? Or maybe a sailfish..?
Sailfish!!! 👍👍👍
This is what I was thinking kinda big swimbait or even glide but a super detailed carp.
Imagine bluegill actually having teeth like that
they'd be a heck of a lot harder to catch, that's for sure
Love this bait! favourite! its a piece of art! On the skin and in the water! Gnarly!
Why is this my favorite lure ever? More gnarly please!
I still stand firmly behind my idea of a whole lure made of baking soda and super glue😂
It would be interesting to see you make a hookless gar lure with nylon string hanging out of the body. challenging. maybe a pour mould with string inside to outside of mould.
Please tag me or something so I see it if you do attempt this. I would love to see the steps and inginuity it takes to make it happen with the proper skill and tool accessibility .
You are truly an artist. That bluegill is spectacular!
I subbed when you featured Peric on the channel. Honestly thought I'd watched one or two more videos and move on but if I remember correctly I haven't missed a video sense. You never cease to amaze me. Keep it man!
It's like a rat rod lure that would also double nicely as a tattoo.
Please make a rare cryptid fish. Something with that "Old World" feel...
The drawing Looked like a prehistoric bluegill/piranha hybrid species!! 😁
You know, before I started watching this video, I thought to myself: "I wonder if he ever loses any of these baits." I guess you answered that one too. Definitely a whole new level of the making every reasonable effort to recover lost gear.
I once set the hook on a fish with my heddon spook, ended up flying towards my face so I blocked it, hit my funny bone and got pretty severe nerve damage. Not very fun experience
You should make my goldfish into a lure. His name is big chungus and he only has one eye
Amazing. Just amazing. The eyes are perfection.
3:00 gnarly sky action! My all time favorite lure you've made.
Now when will he make a Gyarados lure? 🤨
Red Gyarados would be sick
We should do a drinking game every time you say Gnarly, take a drink and before you know it you have a fun drinking game
This is by far the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen
looks amazing in the water. its got that distinctive side flash
"This stuff does stuff to stuff"- Nate Marling 2021
“Shut up, air conditioner.” I would pay hundreds for that. Seriously.
33:50 I'm glad you collected it.
Absolute beautiful masterpiece!! This is my favorite one you’re ever created ! Your are great at what you do !
The biggest bluegill I’ve caught is when I was 8 years old the thing looks about 8 inches
I feel bad for any fish the comes into contact with that lure…
that action is so awesome! beautiful in a gnarly way too
Wow I learn so mutch with this one. The stuff you put to peel after is so usefull.
Also is it just me or does this lure look like a Magikarp that failed to evolve.
Wow, a work of art just got done.
Lmao when you were adjusting the blade on the table saw, all 3 of my dogs went nuts at the squeaking haha
Your craftsmanship and creative process is honestly so cool!
Hey tackle2thepeiole your my fav fishing youtuber
I love it man! Looks like a piranha mated a bluegill...super gnar!
That Tool 46 and two though on 14:50, very nice song :)
So I've had this idea for a soft bait but I have no idea how it would be made. The idea is a craw design but it's build would be similar to the soft top water frog with the 2 hooks on either side so while dragging it it has the girth of a large crawfish but won't get snagged on rocks or brush. I'm not sure if a bait like that is possible but I think it'd be rather game changing if it was. Of course frogs are top water and crawfish are bottom baits so there's that design problem. The lures you make are awesome man. I've started making my first one recently and you truly are an inspiration.
@MarlingBaits I don't hardly ever fish. I've never caught a fish on a lure. I don't watch a lot of crafting or woodworking channels... But man, I've been a subscriber for a long while and ALWAYS love your work and videos! Keep being Gnarly in a radical 80's way lol.
