Many of the buildings in Florida are built on reclaimed land, land that was once a body of water or swamp. They fill it with dirt and build on top, what could go wrong?
When nature is forced then nature demands.
There's no fooling her. We're supposed to live and learn.
It's the breed of mankind, they don't care it's all about money, safety is an afterthought it's heartbreaking to see God's creation take advantage of each other this way! God gave us choice and it's sad to say that mankind doesn't care! GOD help us!
Greedy builders are responsible for killing people & causing financial bankruptcies!!!
I hate greed!!!

Florida, alligators, sink holes, hurricanes, tornadoes, storm surges and major flooding, earthquakes and heat waves..... no way would I want to live there.
Don’t forget the brain eating amoebas!
Don't forget about the people 😂
Florida is the Australia of America. Everything there is designed to kill you.
EXACTLY!!!! Florida is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING to visit!! To live there ,you can keep it!!!! Looney toon peeps and land!!! NICE!!!!! NOPE!!! I AM GOOD!!!
Earthquakes in FL?
Just a thiought. On the collapsing hotel, the fire alarm would be thd best way to alert everyone. Door to door is pointless.
Smart!!
I kept yelling that!
Exactly! If you need to evacuate a building fast, and don’t have time to explain, you pull the fire alarm!
My thoughts exactly ,I don't know why no one thought to pull the fire alarm.
because it wasnt a hotel, it was a resort villa. (Summer Bay Resort)
Note to self: If there are cracks in the columns, LEAVE!
I've figured that out also!
Most people are useless during an emergency, but there are those who can keep a level head and plan quickly to survive, those are the people you want to listen to! They're obvious but not obnoxious.
Very true 😢😢
Thanks for the warning about how many theme parks Orlando has. Theme parks are my idea of hell.
Trump wants the whole US as his 'theme park.' And don't let that garbage-head control an army!!
Theme Park cruises are the only thing worse.
Yep. Hell hole. In Orlando, the whole exits are basically to a theme park/resort.
@@DidiGroovestell me you've NEVER been to Orlando. Only Disney has four exits and Universal has two. Bush Gardens has two there are 242 exits
@lynemac2539 New fear activated! My other great loathing is cruise ships so a cruise ship theme is a literal nightmare scenario for me.
The security man was such a hero!
You couldn't pay me to live in FL, it's a humid tourist trap land.
I lived in Florida, it's full of sinkholes... tourist's who go there have no idea what is beneath them. I was glad to move out of Florida.
@@thisisme3238 For real, I just bought a home last year, I could not image the home owners insurance to live in FL, bet it would be higher than my house payment....
I've been to FL before, nothing makes me want to return, I prefer to stay up in the appalachias where I've lived most my life, now looks like I've made a long commitment to the hills now lol. I really don't understand why elderly people would want to go live there, I know it's not cold but the heat is far worse than any cold imo lol. Yeah I did watch a thing about the sink holes in FL so I know of what your talking about, where I'm from Erwin TN we have sink holes there too, school was closed down over one, when I was 5 my great grand parents back yard all fell in leaving the public gas line exposed, crazy to see, my aunt and her mom were eating breakfast and sitting right next to the exterior wall where the sink hole happened, the porch on the other side of that wall sank right in front of them, it's a wonder that end of the house didn't go down the hole too....
Florida is the Australia of the United States! They have sink holes, alligators, crocodiles, the Florida panther, invasive Burmese pythons and if these don't get you, the heat, humidity and mosquitoes will. Oh and let's not forget the money pit that is Disney.
What about the woman that told him?
@@juliandilling2702 I think the point is that the security guard ran back in and started knocking on people's doors. I'm glad the women were smart enough to leave the building and tell the security guard but what the security guy did was pretty heroic although not smart lol.
I have had two sinkholes occur in my life so far the last one was in my yard just six feet from my back door. So scary! So I refuse to go to Florida ever. This is a nightmare! Those caves are another nightmare!!!!!
God be with you
To add another problem to the equation, in Florida, we have " Big Sugar" issues. They're seemingly untouchable. The runoff of the pesticides looks like black death, as it enters our waterways. Big Sugar refused to take accountability for the damages they are a major part of causing, such as Red Tide. Big Sugar likes to finger point, instead... "land development". Civial engineers wanted to make improvements to better waterway flow. Big Sugar said "No", and threatened with huge lawsuits. Lake Okachobee has already reached its peak of suffering from Big Sugar runoff. I'm beginning to feel like, after 54 years of being a Florida resident, the only fresh water that we can truly rely on will come from sink holes.
Omg, that is horrible!! I guess DeSantis is too busy going after Disney to do anything... :-/ Such a unique, magical corner of our world, and they're ruining it to make a few bucks. It's a national tragedy, tbh
There was a home in Mulberry, Fl that did this. The family woke to rafters cracking and bowing, they fled the house in their PJ’s and made it out. By 10 am the house was fully engulfed. The county filled in the hole and placed a playground on it, I’ve never seen a child out there. Sink holes in that part of Florida re very cooked the phosphate mines have been dogging the earth for about a hundred years. Nearly every home in Mulberry has cracks. I also remember the one in Valrico about 20 miles from Mulberry to the west close to Tampa. A man lost his life and this was unbelievable but it happened.
Yeah, that poor man was literally swallowed up.
Florida is mostly on a karst formation, limestone. Water is eroding underground.
Sinkholes opening are more prevalent during droughts because the pressure isn't holding the ground up anymore.
The fancy term is " MARSH".🤔
@@conniemink672Lol!!
Also? There’s something to be said about not building on swampland. Mother Nature may want her land back.
Or build on the ocean like San Francisco's Marina district. Plus many other such ways of building on water throughout America and other places outside the US I am sure
The Mexican Indians feed Mother Earth with these mouths.
The Everglades are protected, thankfully.
@@darnold4268 Yes, for now & for a long time to come. BUT much of Florida was built on reclaimed swamps. Scary.

Actually there is. Nordic countries apart from Normay and Island are safe.
The 2013 sinkhole in Seffner was only about two miles from my home. I had been in that neighborhood the weekend before this happened.
Not one of these people had the wherewithal to pull the fire alarm. Geeze.
Exactly 🙄
@the trainwr: the elevators had been spasmodically working. Possibly power for alarm not working.
Elevator is a huge red flag along with doors and window misaligned.....
I wasn't even thinking about the fire alarm while listening to it myself . 😬
Well you panic and don't think rightly
You don't build on swamp land.

Sink holes are interesting. You seriously 😒 can't learn enough about them. I've learned a lot from this video alone, and has really wetted my taste to learn more.
You could say, that sinkholes really belongs to earth 🌎, but humans decided to built houses 🏘
Thanks for saying so cuz I’d love it if the people asked the Seminole people how to build houses in the swamp rather than white people boxes

Lol...on dead giants. The Earth is biological. What they call "Myths", may actually be "Truth". We will see.
When I lived in South East Florida, the block I lived in was on a dead coral reef. Multiple times a day there were sounds like a bowling ball hitting the lane. We were even on a news station, back in either the late 80’s or early 90’s… Then if you cross the state from east to west, the highway nicknamed Alligator Alley.
Thanks for the heads up
i can't believe people still build on that area knowing it's riddled with sink holes .. are the crazy, . they should know what's coming
The wise man builds his house upon a rock! If you learned nothing else from Sunday School, this would be helpful...😂
I concur......wholeheartedly
Yes and amen 🙏
I say this all the time.
😂😂😂
Not necessarily a good idea in earthquake areas. Sometimes the rock increases the shaking effect
Why do people say, “The best way I can explain it…”? it’s BEEN explained. You are DESCRIBING it.
😂😂😂
“To be honest” is another one lol
Brilliant documentary and explanation_ thank you 💖
I enjoy the information I learn from these videos but really don't like the overly dramatic style it's presented in.
FYI- central Florida isn’t beachfront. Working for a hotel company? It was frustrating when on the “front lines” and on the phones, taking calls for reservations & folks would ask for ocean front rooms at WDW area properties. Who gets yelled at? The hotel employee. Editing like this makes me giggle and sinkholes are really not a laughing matter. Just letting you know. ✌🏽
Which hotel is this?
It's a disaster waiting for a fine family aka victims with deep pockets..
@@lynettelark7281 Probably Walt Disney World. Not sure... Just a guess.
Hi there! Do you happen to know the name of the hotel that went down on the first part of this doc? Thank you.
😊😊😊😊😊
I’ve visited that state a few times & there’s no way I’d live there. I’ve lived in California with small earthquakes & now I’m in New England & so far I feel very safe. Even a blizzard wasn’t as scary as a sinkhole or earthquake.
Missouri is also on karst, and we have sinkholes though not as many, the New Madrid fault, and tornadoes, as well as very high humidity...
This was like watching a horror movie.
Only thing, this is true.
The first 18 minutes were. After the fourth or fifth set of ads during that time I made a hasty retreat.
The depth of research is evident in every minute of this video.
It is common to show the Louisiana "sink hole" when it is not at all a sinkhole just dramatic footage of what appears to be is all. The draining of that lake was caused by salt miners that made a terrible miscalculation is all.
Looks like man made terrible “miscalculations” all around
they say florida is supposed to be some kind of paradise sound more like hell to me and if not a sink destroying your house its a hurricane you can't win
so then i wonder why florida is not a great big wild life preserve
Perhaps it should be ONLY resorts....It's a beautiful place to visit, but...to LIVE there? (1 year in Tampa) Oh, no, no, no. I have a whole list of reasons. We can visit to view the swamps and alligators.
They started filling in the everglades until they became protected when their ecological importance was realized. Corporations and profit. Trump and his "drill baby drill" idiocy.
Don't forget alligators 😂😂 and mosquitos not my idea of fun times!!
Not such a bad idea
And a town on the mid-east coast of Florida, is the shark-bite capital of the world! Between sinkholes, heat and humidity, hurricanes, etc., you won't catch me even visiting there anymore! I lived by the ocean for years and loved it, but it was in the northwest of the US, and now I live in the country, in the mountains in the northwest inland and love the snow, quiet and serenity of a small town nearby, so I'll live it out the rest of my life here!
Hey! That’s Lake Padgett in LO’L, FL. Just like the butter. My folks live a few blocks from there. You can see their home in the drone footage. That was TERRIFYING back then. They did sink hole surveys. The county or insurance should have done it for the locals right? Nope. Out of pocket and it’s not cheap. It’s still an empty plot of land. Not doxing, all googlable.
Yet another reason to stay far away from Florida.
I live in California up in gold country & apparently what's underground looks like swiss cheese due to all the abandoned mines in this area
@@user-zr7yo1cj3gtyvm for sharing that creepy thought!!
Clermont is nowhere near the ocean btw. They are showing pictures of Clearwater Beach...nowhere near Clermont.
What does Clermont have to do with Clearwater? They are appx 100 miles apart. Clermont is in the center of the state just west of Disney world. Clearwater is on the West coast on the gulf of Mexico. A beautiful coast of clear waters thus the name.
Does it matter?
Around 1970(?), the school district decided to fill about half a swampy pond in order to create surface for a paved tennis court and football field. Another example of “What Could Possibly Go Wrong??”
While the field merely “inconvenient” due to the risk of turning ankles…the tennis court was terrible on which the team practiced and tournaments were played!
I recall talk of other school district teams noting the wavy, potholed patched pavement!
I didn’t play either sport, but certainly lacked the balance and footing coordination to have avoided harming myself out there if I had.
As a 13 year old I apparently knew enough not to pave over a pond. Who knew?
Yet ppl dont think we neèd to live in harmony with nature.
Well, I can't imagine anyone voluntarily moving to Florda, but if you do, I'd avoid lake front property. Thanks to the guy who mentioed no animals were hurt. Nobody thinks to mention that. I live alone on the 5th floor with 2 belovéd companions. The tornado alarm went off a few months ago. I put Pasha cat in his case abd just called McBride the dog who will stand with me anywhere. I am mobility impaired, but the three of us headed down an inside staircase that I knew would provide some shelter. On the first floor I listened for the tornado (I 've been near one before ) If I had heard it me and mine would have run back to the staircase. The next day we learned it had touched down in a small town 10 miles away.
Nothing good can ever come from those violent storms
Thank you...very informative...
Terrifying!! Thank God everyone survived!
If it wasn't for Faith, a LOT of people would've died. She's amazing for being so aware.
Respect For A Very Scientific Work Regarding Sinkholes , A Serious Matter Could Appear
To Be Global , All Praise To The Almighty Owner Of Earth Crust & Life Over It. ❤❤❤❤❤
Most sinkholes need Karst terrain.
This problem is that water- lifeblood of the Earth, is leaving the ground. One of the biggest offenders is Nestle. If they're not directly pumping it out of the ground, they're using public water supplies. When the water is evacuated, so is the life of the region. Aquifers are drying up- this isn't good.
All sinkholes on Missouri map run down interstate 44....our house sits on a huge rock....when we hammer a sign in yard it only goes about 10-12 inches....next door on front lawn theres a small hole where their ground sinks in....
Sounds dubious
I used to dream about having a home in Florida. Now so glad I couldn't afford it!!! 😢
Israel needs to get it's water from other sources, like ocean water. The country of Soudi Arabia gets water like that and desalinate it.
And don't forget Saudi steals water from other people by " cloud harvesting" now that they have the technology to make it rain on qué . Only thing is once it starts they can't get it to stop raining as recent events have proved 😂😂
Interesting video but the narrator's voice drove me crazy after a while. He sounds like he's just whispering intensely.
Me too. Needs someone without a husky voice, in my opinion..
The whole world is a sinkhole waiting to happen
I believe this generation will see very soon
I guess you're a glass half empty kinda person...
@@lewisjeffreys9175Or an engineer. The glass is the wrong size. 😊
Y'all can afford water in the O'Biden economy?
Well, that's pessimistic, but it IS getting worse here on our Planet Earth, and you can chalk it up to the human population explosion that saw us going from 2.5 billion in 1950, to 8 billion in just 72 years! That SHOULD scare us silly, but clearly doesn't!
I was thinking the same thing. Not happy about it. Whether you are on land or sea it won't matter unfortunately
In Israel, a sinkhole swallowed the entire town of Ein Gedi. If you want to visit the Dead Sea, you have to go online and check the sinkhole report for the day. It's a super active area right now, mostly due to Jordan and the West Bank draining all the water that should be going to the sea. If they would dig wells instead of diverting river water, the problem could be easily solved.
Watching now. Very well done. Glad I came across your channel. Subscribed.
Yep they have stripped the salt @ the Dead Sea and there’s a shadow of the sea left.
My favorite fishing spot was a sink hole
Just one more reason I have no desire to go to Florida
That water filled sinkhole sucking houses down is absolutely terrifying. I would never live in any place with sink holes like that. I would never sleep.
Loved this but CZcams spoilt it with 35 adverts

I would say the ocean is starting to take Florida from the ground up. It's going to slowly wash into the ocean.
If at all possible, always keep your most valuable things like old, non-replaceable pictures (not digital) passports, etc close to the door in a cabinet or basket. If there is a fire, flood, sinkhole, etc you can grab them on your way out with the family. Insurance can buy you new clothes and toothbrushes. Not replace your tangible memories…
Be faithful protect you and your family
Another thought is why do these companies CEOs think they need to torture the ground. As in basements messing with the ground.
We don't get many in the UK and definitely not big ones !!
I have really been worried my daughter moved to Florida...sink holes could happen anywhere
GOD ABSOLUTELY IS OPENING UP DOORWAYS TO THE ABYSS ,THE CLOSER WE GET TO HIS RETURN!!!!!

Think anyone's going to buy your house next to a sinkhole? Not like you can hide it
They continue to build under ground cities could sinc hole be caused by the drilling????
Probably! Dumb!

Thank feck I live in a part of the Scottish highlands that isn’t prone to flooding or sinkholes. My home is built on solid rock and I’m very happy about that after watching this documentary! Poor souls in Florida that worry about their home being swallowed up while they sleep.
Curious, why wouldn’t you pull the fire alarm on your way out?!? 🚩🚩🚩
This looks like an AI generated channel, the video is so detached from reality it's mind-boggling. They stitched together random clips that have nothing to do with the actual disaster. It's disgusting how many of these fake "for clicks" channels are littering CZcams these days, spreading fake "documentaries". SMH
💯yes there are a lot
Yes, like Jeremy s clothes had ni dirt or mud fir being pulled out of a sink hile. RIP his brother
God, just think of all the stuff all the lakes in the Land O' Lakes have swallowed
Why didn’t the security guard pull the fire alarm? I would think it would be faster than going door to door.
I grew up in southern Indiana, and sinkholes are not uncomon there. The bedrock (limestone) is typically close to the surface, and full of caves. All it takes to form a sinkhole is a bit of underground erosion in one of tiose caves. My parents' pla e had a sinkhole in the back field that was big enough that a car someone dumped long ago was barely visible. One thing my dad always told us when walking in the woods was to be careful of walking on depressions, especially if they were covered by leaves (it was the woods, so they always were) so that you can't sew the ground.
It was June 1987 when i was driving on SR70 when a massive hole opened and swallowed the road along with 10 cars in front of me. I watched another 4 or 5 cars drive in before traffic stopped safely short of the hole. Several of us tried to save those in the sinkhole, but it was too risky and then the cars disappeared into the collapsing soil.
Sinkholes are an American phenomenon. Tornadoes as well. Nowhere else does Mother Nature rage as much as in America.

all of florida will be under water before the end of this century. In the meanwhile, the growth and extent of sinkholes and caverns that underlie much of the state. This is happening because global warming is causing melting of much of the planet’s ice (glaciers, ice sheets, and ice caps, from the circumpolar north to the Antarctic.). This phenomenon, along with the increasingly violent hurricanes are devastating Florida.

They have been using Pilons in Alaska for years . I've seen a
Hospital on pilons . That was because of sand . The people put their houses on pilons because of permfrost thawing.
"Are humans to blame for this?" Well, of coarse we are! Right? They blame us for everything else, why not this, too. Also, it would be nice to see more of the actual sinkholes and less of people talking about them.

The earth has been expanding for millionscl of years. Thats what it does. Many places on earth splitting in a big way. Google Africa splitting apert and huge gap opens after Turkish quake. Great drone footage of these. Turkey one happened in minutes! Hundreds of ft. Wide and 100 ft deep.

*I'll stay landlocked with arctic temps, blizzards, & tornadoes* in the Northern Midwest U.S. where the National Weather Service meteorologists' dangerous wind chill, blizzard, & tornado WATCHES & WARNINGS give multiple counties adequate-to-lotza time to PREPARE to survive it - stay home or travel with survival supplies in the winter; in the summer, to take cover, or drive to an underground shelter for protection from the violent twisters' winds.
Not to forget mentioning that the Northern Midwest's weather's eerie signs of the sky itself (pre-tornado sky is sobering) give everyday folks visual & audible sensory clues, too, as a personal heads-up to take cover soon ORRRRR IMMEDIATELY to protect themselves & animals *IN ADVANCE* of disaster. Heck - professional "Storm Chasers" are gung-ho about HUNTING tornadoes on video.
Whoever heard of a "Sinkhole Chaser"?!? Point made. The scientists in this vid are the closest ones earning that title, but they can't warn people in the same way - to leave immediately cuz an *INSTANT SURPRISE SINKHOLE* is gonna happen. 😳 Swallowed by a sinkhole while sleeping? 🤯
Impressive that a few acutely aware people in this vid noticed subtle-to-severe signs of unknown impending danger & also *intuitively knew* something BAD was gonna happen that DEFIED LOGIC - & luv that they weren't swayed/deterred by people & authorities not taking them seriously - implying that they were crazily imagining it all.
