  • Wheat berries are the perfect addition to a prepper's pantry because they can be purchased in bulk for a reasonable price, they store for a very long time under the right conditions, they are healthy to eat, and they are versatile. Here I explain how to store wheat berries for 30 years or more. They can help lengthen the time you and your family can live off your food storage after a collapse.

My grandparents who survived the depression ate them all the time. You can do a lot with them too.

While they can be ground with rocks, trust me - you don't want to do that. Buy a manual mill. This is good for much more than grain grinding. A good one can be had for around $300 and it's worth saving yourself the arthritis. A great one will set you back $800 or more, but will last a lifetime of daily bread baking.

This is mostlikely the last kitchen appliance I have yet to pick up. Would you mind sharing with me, please, which brand and model number is your most favorite? Do you have favorites in both a manual and electric?

If you store them in their bag they come in without opening. Will they stay good if not opened ? I bought a bag two years ago. Still in the unopened bag.
