Ep#14: African Campaign of World War 2: How Germany's Rommel (the Desert Fox) Fought Allied Forces

The Africa campaign (1940-43) in World War II was a series of battles for control of North Africa. At stake was control of the Suez Canal, a vital lifeline for Britain’s colonial empire, and of the valuable oil reserves of the Middle East. It included campaigns fought in the Libyan and Egyptian deserts (Western Desert Campaign, also known as the Desert War) and in Morocco and Algeria (Operation Torch) as well as Tunisia (Tunisia Campaign). The North Africa campaign was often labeled a "war without hate," a pure military clash in the desert without the partisan roundups and ethnic cleansing happening in Europe. This view has been challenged by recent historians, given that there were indeed many civilians who lived in the region.
In this video, I discuss the North African campaign in Hindi and discuss the legend of the desert fox - Erwin Rommell - a German military commander who became famous by his innovative strategies of warfare in the desert.

Erwin Rommel (The desert fox) one of my favorite generals..Rommel is man who knows his weaknesses and strength. And always study his enemies..he knows armored warfare very well and worked on blitzkrieg with Heinz guderian (another my favorite general) that's why his attacks are like lightnings in thunder....he always one of greatests generals of all time...

British forces mainly comprised of Indian soldiers who were fighting due to instruction from Gandhi that Indians had to fight against axis forces. That was blunder for Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose who wanted every Indian whether in India or in foreign countries should fight against dirty British empire. Gandhi once again proved himself that he was an agent of British but we regard him as father of the nation. This is the real irony.
