    I didn’t realise how sick I was either. I kept thinking it would be over sometime soon and I’d be fine... But that never happened. I don’t have children either. I used to have horses and a cat and a dog. I miss them so so much. My horse. Well I was his person. He had been a steeplechaser and he lived till 37 years old. That’s because he’d found someone he trusted.🏇🏿🇦🇺

    I had ME for 35 years, creeping up on me year after year after a classic start.
    At the last hurdle to get the diagnosis, I changed my diet drastically, and it took 20 days to do the first recovery, to wake up. A year in I still see improvements.
    I am now 49 years old and I got my life back.

    The analogy of the marionette doll is perfect!!
    I am seeing a pattern, and I actually work with those that deal with chronic illness as well, is that most every one of us are highly sensitive empathic people, and we've all had a lot of trauma or ongoing stress. Remember the analogy what's buried alive never dies

Stress produces tension and fight/flight conditions which makes the body occupied with dealing with the fight/flight = all kinds of fatigue because it uses up the body's resources for healing. We "spin in the mud". The solution is not mental or physical, it is both because the body is not divided into two parts. Stress can be "managed" but better to look where stress comes from. Often our demands come from perfectionalism - "made up" criteria of how we think things "should" be. Because from we are little we are measured. We are given grades in school. We never learn self worth so some of us think we have flaws and need to "be better". This is a huge misunderstanding. The very strive to "be better" is what causes stress and tension and fatigue. It is highly physical, and completely innocent! Inflammation caused by innocent wants to be good. We are beautiful peole already, we don't need to change. It is all an illusion 💗

      @@laisa. have you looked at our nervous system? Yes I agree with everything you've said. nerves run to every single organ and gland in the body, which stems from the vagal nerve system period if our vagal nerve tone isn't balanced, that means we're in parasympathetic dominance.
      I read line has a great program for balancing the nervous system and getting back into the body. All we need to do is look at how animals in the wild, or babies deal with stress.they intuitively know when to shut down, winter war or cry or have a tantrum to let out stress.

    Yesss! My children propelled me forward and I fought hard to stay mentally well. My husband took care of all of us, myself and a 8 & 10 year old. And I was peri menopausal!
    Yup some thing, I told my Dr. I haveCFS! 2 years later a Dr. With CFS diagnosed me.

    I have had fatigue since age 16 and I am age 62. I have much less fatigue than 20 years ago by healthy eating and a spiritual energy practice but I believe I would have more energy if I practiced "slow living". thank you for sharing how you gave up being so achievement oriented! great interview!

    That thing that she said about accepting that you are ill, that is a big one. After 20 years, pushing myself through the disease as much as I could, the past year I was picking up diseases that one who is as uber healthy as me should not be getting. I got diagnosed with kidney disease and that was it. I wasn't healthy though because of the stress. I knew something was very wrong last year when I was only resting and going to school, the semester was very easy and required very little effort. I had a lot of stress surrounding school before that semester. No regrets because I learned a lot, but it was highly detrimental to my health. I had to make the very hard decision to get my ego out of it and finally accept how ill I was. It took a few months but I've spent most of the year cutting out as much stress as possible and really focusing on recovery. I did have 3 months of being bed bound after I went on my self care mission due to cystitis/kidney stones/fatigue, another story, the 2nd time in 2 years I lost 3 months. Then I went on a detox mission and that had some very brutal moments, but as I've commented before, little by little I'm getting through it. I am definitely better than I was a few months ago and that has to be enough for now. I am dead tired but I am determined!

    Thank you for sharing your story Hilde!!❣And thank's Raelan for your wonderful work!!🤩 I'm 52 and when I hear all these stories, I realize, that I live whith this illness for decades...
    It was a sneaking process and I'm a veeery patient person😊 and so I adapted my life again and again. And was consistently my new "normal". ☺ But now, I can"t no longer minimize the daily routine and no longer hide the truth from myself and my environment. All my efforts now directly go to be honest to myself, my doctor, my employer- if necessary. And consequently get a diagnosis and demonstrate myself, that healing is possible. So stupid it sounds, 22 years ago came in my mind, that I will have an illness and will heal it without hardware, but only with my intuition, my mind, my hands and logical thinking. This sounds crazy, doesn't it?🙃🤭
    I'm a health practitioner since 25 years and was sooo ashamed, that I felt so worse. So I was silent and kept going. I hat a divorce and was allone with my son. I was so afraid, that the youth welfare office could take him away from me, if they notice, that something is wrong. Because the doctors didn' know, whats going on and the only idea was depression.....🙄😳 and a single mother with depression....and so I minimized and trivialized my situation. But now my son is adult and went to university. And so I can "come out" about the complete dimension of my situation. I'm looking forward to get a diagnosis ......and some day speak with Raelan and tell my recovery story....also if my english will be better (without brainfog)😄 regards Ina🙋🏻‍♀️

    I came across your channel this morning, and glad I found it. I have had CFS for about 2 decades and I am in my fifties. I recently took a 10 week course offered by my local health service in UK and it was fantastic as all about getting oneself back in balance. So encouraged to hear Hilde's story and I am in tears because so happy to hear about her recovery. Will be watching more on your channel. Thank you for sharing.

    Hilde your story was just what I needed! I'm soon to be 52 yrs old and at times have wondered if im too old to recover as most of the recovery stories I hear are from younger people. You are so inspiring! I found i teared up a little during your interview. My kids were teenagers ( still have one teenager that is 15 yrs old) when i first became ill. I was bed bound at times and they have had to do a lot to help out. I know it has not been easy on them and it can be hard for me. I have made sure I could make it to special events. I think the part of the interview I liked best was when you talked of how you used to be so empathetic ( i was too) and how you said M.E. stands for Me. And Raelan how you talked of being like a puppet. I was so like that before I became ill. I have learned that I need to take care of ME first. I also liked when you talked of slow living! Can I ask in regards to perimenopause have you had any issues with that? Did you need to address any hormone issues as part of your recovery? I would love to know what a day of your eating looked like toward the end of recovery?

I feel that the plantbased foods, drinks and supplements have supported me all the way. Especially loads of ripe fruits have supported my recovery. I trusted that my menopause would unfold as it needed to. I had no specific physical symptoms that bothered me. I send you all the inspiration that you need on your healing journey.

      @@kathystoner5239 I am sure you can recover. I believe we are caught by a huge misunderstanding from a medical world which separates the "physical" from the "mental". We are not divided, the body is a complex organism.

    Thanks so much Hilde and Raelan. This interview was extremely helpful! I have also been ill with ME/CFS for several decades and, in the process, have notched up even more years on the tree of life. I have been very involved in facilitating discussion in the ME/CFS community, but all that discussion was focused on a cure found strictly through ‘science’ and research, with a limited definition of science. Sometime in the last year I just knew that I had had enough of this illness and was going to get well and stop chasing the latest theories and supplements. That led me to a neural retraining program…and to Raelan’s channel.
    Those of us who have been following the mainstream conversations on this illness have had no idea that large numbers of people were actually getting well. Unfortunately recovery stories are not usually believed in the larger ME/CFS community, so thank you for putting all this out there so beautifully. 👍❤️

    This needs a bit of patience and some amount of trial-n-error. At the end of which recovery awaits you :-)
    To all those who are empathetic and caring, and rushing to do stuff for others, I read this somewhere -
    If you love another person and are willing to do mountains for him/her, should you not be doing, at least, the same for yourself? If not, you are stupid.
    In fact, it is not short of a crime to not take care of oneself.
    How can you love anybody if you don't love yourself first?

    yep...thats me..crawled to the bathroom. after i got moving finally, after moving to a few different houses, i found that, back in the early days of this illness, i would leave the house and go uphill and toward wellness but as soon as i would go back into the house, i would break out in a total body rash from head to toe. My intestines are so balled up , i bleed blood out my nose from the pressure pushing upwards from my esophagus. i can only seem to eat veggies , as soon as i add something else other than veggies, i begin to have serious issues. i feel even better when i eat only organic. but who can afford that. Anyway..i really like your approach etc. Raelan..you bring a lot of inspiration to us all and i thank you for that. im a long hauler. I honestly think ive had this since childhood or even born with it but my blowup came when i was 33...i am now 61. I believe we are starving some kind of bug off when we all cannot eat many foods. When i became sick, i didnt think a person could get that sick, then have to live in a tent in the back yard just to survive....and yet be told for many yrs , its all in our heads....i have few kind words for the many docs ive tried to get help from. I was outright lied to ...i honestly believe docs are covering this up...there must be a reason. Hell ...a dog gets better treatment at the vet office.
    i keep wondering..., if the gulf war soldiers got ME/CFS (same illness, different name) shortly after several vaccines and, in Japan, many young women got ME/CFS after HPV vaccine. Could it be that we all got this from vaccines? After all, a vaccine is supposed to make our bodies react and create antibodies...well...i feel like i had one HUGE immune reaction. This illness has been around since the 1930s about the time vaccines were introduced (ive read)?
    Open medicine foundation may or may not find the cause but will find the truthful answers for us all!

      Dr Tent of Diversity health services has his CFS/ME client get bloodwork done for the major viruses like EBV and CMV and other Herpes virus. Often they have high levels. He has a talk about it on youtube related to autoimmune. If you are interested and can't find it I can send you a link. He has supplements and a diet he recommends to control the viruses. I have not tried it but a friend has and it helped her.

    Thank you for sharing your journey, Hilde! I also had a bad case of mono over 25 years ago and have never been the same. I was diagnosed with ME 6 years ago, but CVS has been the weight that I carry more than anything else. I totally understand everything you both went through! And call me crazy, but I have 3 kids, ages 10, 17 and 21! They are spaced far apart for a reason. P.S. I have the Medical Medium book, but haven't tried his recommendations yet.

    It's interesting the point on cutting out the refined sugar, and. I've been a nutritional educator for 27 years before I got so sick I was mostly bed bound. I also was a personal trainer. Never ate sugar to speak of, always whole grains, three quarters of my diet vegetables, very rarely red meat, Etc. I never even ate much gluten. for me, I realized it wasn't my diet but my nervous system was a mess. I even went on the strict gaps diet and SCD diet as my GI tract was also had become a mess.
    Honestly, when I stop being so picky about my food, I started feeling better. I think part of it is that perfectionistic attitude that puts your body in fight flight mode. when we are in fight flight no matter what we eat can digest.

      Thank you for your perspective, Tammy🌺 My experience is that the plantbased foods, drinks and supplements- especially loads of ripe fruits, have had a huge and wonderful healing impact on my recovery.

      @@sophiaalila555 from a nutritional perspective, being a nutritional educator for 37 years, it all depends on your own metabolic makeup. And from a personal perspective, I tried vegetarian and even, it truly made me worse. Everyone's body is completely different. I've seen people on raw food diets thrive and I've seen others whose health has gone way down and they were following a healthy raw vegan diet.
      I've seen those on Paleo diet who's health thrived and I've seen those on a Paleo diet whose health plummeted.
      With this said, that is so awesome to hear that you have found a diet that works for you personally

    A really inspiring story from Hilde, thanks so much for sharing. I have the Medical Medium book that you mention and would love to have a more in depth idea of what supplements and foods in chapter 3 you thought helped you in particular Hilde. For example I’m a little unsure about taking Silver Hydrosol.

      Thank you, Viv🌸 I implemented the majority of the foods and supplements in chapter 3. The silver hydrosol is one of the few supplements I have not used.
      Follow your gut feeling/intuition in which foods and supplements you need the most of. It might well vary throughout your healing journey.

    I cured my ME of 6.5 yeara accidentally while starting 5:2 lifestyle in the hopes of gaining some health benefits. After 2 weeks (4 fast days) I was up on a mountain skiing. Later I learned how fasting reduces inflammmation - which ME is. Inflammation in brain tissue.
    BUT I didn't completely recover before I understood how stress (perfectionalism) produses stress in the body = cytokins = makes the body preoccupied wtih balancing the fight/flight = tired.
    It IS body + mind. Both togheter. The community both resents stigma buth at the same time resist us who say we are healed. That is a horrible stigma to put on us instead of listening to us. Ironically.

    Mine started with long term mold exposure at my state job that lowered my immune system that I got a reactivated Epstein Barr virus aka Mono, and after 7 months of working without a diagnosis of why I needed to sleep a lot, when the mono was over I started having all the pain and a different fatigue.
    I think the virus is problem.

      Thank you for sharing, Qplus🌸 Anthony William goes in depth about healing/cleansing from mold and Epstein Barr Virus. He is very clear about the root causes of ongoing symptoms and so-called mystery illnesses. It is usually a mixture of viruses, bacterias, toxins and heavy metals residing in our organs, gut, tissues, and so on. Plantbased foods, drinks and supplements assist beautifully and profoundly in cleaning out and healing the body over time. I AM a living proof😊

    Acupuncture! Acupressure treatments. Massages. Chiropractor adjustments help some. Greens foods. & Herbal
    Supplements natural. The parasympathetic nerve .etc..
    Be selfish in moderation. Keep SAFE!!! Mega amounts of doctor !!!

      Takk for spørsmålet. Det tok noen år å bli frisk. Som jeg deler i intervjuet, tok jeg gradvis flere endringer i kostholdet, startet med daglig meditasjon, tok etterhvert coachkurs, mm. På slutten av 2015 fant jeg første boka til Anthony William og la om kosten over natten til 100% plantebasert inkl en rekke kosttilskudd. Da kjente jeg at den fysiske energien varte lenger og lenger og at bølgedalene med lav energi forsvant mer og mer. I 2019 var jeg så frisk at jeg kunne begynne å leve drømmene mine- være mer sosial, helgeturer, langreise til Asia, gå opp fjelltopper og flytte dit jeg ville. Så det har vært en gradvis tilfriskning. Jeg vet i Hjertet mitt at høyt konsum av frisk frukt, bær ,grønnsaker, urter og krydder har en essensiell del av min helbredelse💚😊
