This is an excellent explanation of basic chord forming, that should make most beginners think "Oh, is it that simple?"
And, yes it is.
Unfortunately, this doesn't get you far in practice, as you can't start counting the keys while you are playing. The difficulty is in applying this knowledge in a fluent play of your fingers on the keyboard.
