I see one subject that is not practical in this movie. The government will not seize horses for their own use. The government is controlling the drones. That is more believable.

One of my favorite post-apoc films is Turbo Kid! It is like a goofy, colorful Mad Max on BMX bikes! I always wondered why they don't show more bicycles when people need to stay together and move as one. You don't even need a chain to make a bicycle useful, as long as it rolls it can carry you further just like the old fashioned velocipedes!
I hope this film gets made, it would be wonderful to see bikes shown this way

Oh I just remembered, if you've ever read the book World War Z, not the movie that was trash, or the unabridged audiobook of World War Z... After the Americans withdraw west of the rocky mountains, there's a severe shortage of oil for civilian use... And there's a reference that two of the characters in a flashback talk about how they rode mountain bikes from one city to the next. It's only like one paragraph in the book, it just popped into my mind 🙂.

I've often thought about this myself. In a post-apocalyptic zomvie environment bicycles could easily fill the role of horses and cavalry. Some of the traditional roles of cavalry were pursuit, screening, reconnaissance, rear guard; all of which if you were dealing with zombies would be very helpful done by bicycle to protect survivor settlements.... And of course transportation. Imagine if Walking Dead had a bicycle mounted group 😀.

It was several seasons later when a few of the characters, finding themselves in dire need of transportation after their horses ran off, finally try using bikes. But they didn't get very far before one of them practically tacoed his front wheel and it was never explained how he did it.
And just like that they were back to walking and bikes were never used again.

During World War II a number of nations used bicycles in certin roles. The Japanese basically overran Malaya with bicycle Infantry. It was more of the European and Asian powers that used bicycles, the Americans to my knowledge really never did because we have much more industrialization at the time. But early war in Continental Europe the germans, british, and I believe the Dutch had bicycle units. And of course they were also used by everybody for Messengers as back then radios were unreliable at times and if you were the soviets, basically unavailable 🙂. Yeah, bikes are great for transport. But, they need tires and tubes for one thing. Not to mention if you have a bike with multiple gears, then you need a good chain, a cassette or freewheel. Brake pads. Shift and Brake cables. I am a bicycle mechanic and Even a simply one speed bike with coaster brakes will need at least tires and tubes. And what happens when you Taco a rim, or break a few spokes. So a good bike will last a year with out too much maintenance, but when they need it, they need it. So your better off as a hiker, pulling a small wagon or cart.

I have for years thought that if anything like that happens I would immediately ditch the car and grab a bike and get TF outta of the trouble areas. That makes the most sense to me because I will never need gas. Just food and water which will be a whole other issue of it's own.
