    Also: Livewire is now $22,000 instead of $30,000. Didn’t focus on price here but that’s a major milestone.

    Again, your research and story-telling capabilities are exceptional. You accurately framed the smart strategy being employed by HD. Separating the businesses (HD-Corporate from Live Wire) to avoid the newest and emerging business from lagging-down HDs balance sheet is commonly done in business….but also very-very smart. Only the keen eye of BB picked it up. Nice work my friend!!

    The biggest constraint for electric bikes is the battery. Lithium-ion is the best we have. Until there is a quantum leap and we have a better battery they're not going to be taken seriously and the price isn't going to come down.
    And the agenda of the EV magnates is to replace the combustion engine. They can't just "live and let live". That pisses off 99.9% of gas bike owners.

    I'm all for electric vehicles, just not a fan of the price point. I'm very excited for the EV industry and seeing where it will lead into the future. The critical things (for me at least) it needs to address are range, price, and recharge time. Right now it's too convenient to operate a gas powered machine.

    Agreed, it was a great move to separate the brands and allow them to appeal to different markets, while also knocking a huge amount off the asking price when they ditched the HD badge tax which helps with accessibility. I hope Livewire does well and develops into more models and a strong brand, perhaps starting with an off-roady dual-sport/Adv style akin to the Long Way Up specials. They do need governments to care more about electric motorcycles as a platform though, something which is a hard ask with so much of the West being very anti-bike in their policy making. Here in the UK for example they've just stopped subsidising electric motorcycles with grants to reduce the asking price, unlike the cars which still have the grants up until the 2030 ICE cutoff, meaning the already high initial cost to get onto an EV bike here is now a couple of thousand Pounds higher still.

      Yikes. Yeah, the barrier to entry is still higher in many areas of EV. Lot of ground to prove and make up for consideration by many. I’m drifting towards the mindset that both ICE and EV will exist together for a long time. So many moving parts in the transportation industry for it to just phase out even in the time spans targeted. Still, new tech is exciting!

    Great information once again! I wish HD the best of luck now and years to come. It's an American company that's an icon and has its issues. I just don't see many people running every year for the new HD. The EV looks great but once again it's about miles per watt or however they measure it. My opinion only. Hasta luego!

    Electric is not for me. Governments and corporations think it's great, which is how I know it's bad for consumers. Dude... please come back, this channel rocks!

    I do not want and am not interested in a battery powered motorcycle.

    • @TheSprocket
      @TheSprocket  Před 2 lety +1

      That's fine. There will be people who will, though. Motorcycle companies are businesses first. So, if you have the potential to get ahead and make the same impact you did years before, wouldn't you take that opportunity too?

    • @airtexaco
      @airtexaco Před 2 lety +1

      @@TheSprocket I am not convinced people will actually want one.

      @@airtexaco The Livewire might not be my cup of tea either, (mainly due to cost and not enough money to afford multiple bikes) but just up the road from where I live is a fellow who happens to be a full patch member in a certain well known world wide club. Interestingly this fellow owns a Livewire and is quite happy to be seen ride it will wearing his colours. So if the Livewire is an acceptable bike now within this circle that tells me there is a larger demand for these types of bikes then I would have guessed.

    Livewire failed utterly for one single reason !!! It was massively over priced !!! HD shot themselves in the foot with their own greed...again.

    • @TheSprocket
      @TheSprocket  Před 2 lety

      Not necessarily greed (not saying it wasn’t). However, First gen tech is always expensive to fund it for the masses later. (Tesla is an example too) Livewire now is $22,000 compared to $30,000 before. Probably worth making a video about it.

    • @TheSprocket
      @TheSprocket  Před 2 lety +2

      Also, I spoke with an Indian rep back in 2020 that mentioned they haven’t entered EV yet because if they attempted it at the level of fit and finish, range etc expected, it would cost close to that of Livewire.
