i have two interpretations of this song:
1st is that it is dedicated to refugees and how they are not able to see their families for a long time. It offers hope to them for seeing their families again in this life.
2nd is that Maher is talking about our 'original home' which could be interpreted as Jannah. Hence one day all of us, including refugees that perhaps tragically could not reunite with their families in this dunya, will be reunited in our original home Jannah. Amazing song MashAllah makes me cry every time.
