You have to do a quest about taking a man into the cave to look at Hobbes. I've forgotten the quest name.

Does Dankwater Cavern (2:05) eventually open up more? I can't seem to get where you're going. There aren't any openings to go further into the cavern after the first batch of hobs.

Once you Hobnobbing with Hobbes, it opens up more.
