    I had a Laredo. I found the wifi too sketchy and I don't like that heat shield. This is true for their grills. The slide plate is heavy. When the grill cools the grease solidify and its a pain to separate the two pieces. I like my series 3 vertical from Pit Boss. If I were to upgrade the Sportsman 7 would be my go to. A cabinet , no wifi to mess with, huge hopper, multi-adjustable grate levels and takes less space than a grill as its vertical. I like my pit boss and 3 is the one I found works best. Excellent product and they will not bankrupt you.

      Get the 1150, better controller than the 850. The 850 does not have to 10 degree increments up to 300. I had an 820 and that ran hotter from side to side than my 1100 did so size doesn't always mean more even heat. Thanks for watching!

    Since this model has a sear plate, it doesn't have a drip pan above the fire box like most Traeger's. In your opinion does that make cleaning the area underneath the grill grates way harder since you can't just cover it with foil?

    I just bought one at wallmart for half price ($300) . Kept getting an error code ,opened the auger axcess door and a wire wasn't even clipped together ,no biggie , did the burn off process that afternoon , that night I went to cook a steak and it takes forever to get to the high heat (500°) only could get it to 477°.
    My old pitboss would get to 550- 575, ( I like to sear my steaks) and the fan sounded like it was a more powerful fan.
    The fan on the new one sounds wimpy.
    Also on smoke mode the new one don't seem to generate as much smoke.
    On another note the pellet removal shoot on the back doesn't let all pellets out you have to use a paint stir stick to shove the ones from front out.
    Wish I had kept my old one for cooking steaks but the wife was in such a big hurry to get it out of here so I gave it to a friend that can't afford one (thanks honey).

    I bought a Laredo 1000 about a month ago. Unfortunately it has been nothing but headaches! Initially, it would take about an hour from start until it finally reached 400°F for searing steaks, it now struggles to go above 200°F . Pitboss has sent me a replacement board which didn't fix the issue. Now they are sending me yet another board and a replacement fan. How long does it take yours to get up to 350°F?

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ Před 2 lety +1

      It takes a while but I never timed it out to that temp. I wonder if you have an igniter issue?? I like the Laredo but I have to use a smoke tube in it to get the flavor profile I am used to. It is quiet and runs steady but something is not right with how long yours is taking. Hopefully the next board does the trick!!! If not maybe you can return it but look at the 1150 from Lowe's. @@DeadBrokeBBQ I opted to take it back before the second board got to me. I went to Walmart and swapped it out for a brand new one. The new one seems to be working a lot better but still took about 30 minutes to reach 377° f. I have to say it is a much improvement over the hour for the 400. I do notice that this one starts up a lot quicker than the previous one but once it gets to a certain temperature it climbs very slowly. Also I have noticed if I set it to 400 it runs 360 380 range and hardly ever gets to 400. For it to reach 400 I have to set it at 450 or H. It seems to be spot on with the lower temps for example if I set it to 200 it does that +-10 which is phenomenal. But I like to do high temp Cooks more than I'd like to do smokes and that's the issue I'm running into. I used to have a pro series first generation and it was excellent for high temperature Cooks as well as low and slow smokes. I have a whole 90 days to take it back if it doesn't meet my standards if that's the case I will be looking at the 1150. Thanks for your response I really appreciate it.

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ

      You use the smoke setting to boost a little extra smoky flavor at the beginning of the cook. Run it on smoke for an hour and then turn it up to 250°. It really only adds a tad more so typically I do not use it more than 30 to 60 minutes. Have fun cooking!

    Ya know the crazy thing is your actually paying a bit more ( ok just a few cents more) so they can have someone mess up your new cooker with those damm stickers. It's like your paying someone to vandalize your property so they can advertise something you have already purchased ( as if seeing the decals will encourage you to immediately go out and purchase a second one?) Proof that it's a crazy world. Here's a idea. They should make the decals at least easier to come off but also be some kind of coupon for a case of beer discount for all the additional effort you had to deal with the damm stickers. I know, not going to happen but it's a happy thought anyway. Sooooo keep your stick on the ice and have a great day. ( yeah I'm a fan of the old Red Green show.) 😁👍🌤🏒🍻
