    I still can't get over Shara's design. It's definitely my favourite, aesthetically. It's terrifying, but you can see traces of it evolving as an underground creature in its complexion and tendency to keep its eyelids shut. And those eyes, man those eyes...

      Headcanon: Shara's neurons are distributed all over it's body like an octopus, allowing for extremely precise movement. AND OH GOD THOSE EYES. The eyelids are obviously used to keep sand out, which can indeed close since Shara's eyes do peek out underneath the rock armor, until it reaches Phase 2. and the rocks have not been kind on it. The scars aka. orange parts are unsettling yet make it appear way more divine/intimidating, like markings or tattoos.

      I don’t have World, but I watched my friend fight Shara and I was blown away. I love its weird, emaciated, twisted limbs like skinny tree trunks. I love its horrifying face and disgusting, degenerated wing fingers. And the way it uses vibrations to dissolve the ground is such an awesome ability. Shara really is nothing like anything else in Monster Hunter. It’s my favorite final boss alongside Gogmazios and Ahtal-Ka.

    • @Thesaurus_Rex
      @Thesaurus_Rex Před 4 lety +166

      Some of First Wyverian dialogue seems to imply that it tends to only awaken briefly, move, then return to dormancy. The level of activity in the Everstream due to Zorah and Xeno probably awoke and aggravated it, so it entered a period of extended activity that caused the widespread geographical and ecological shifts that we see in Iceborne. It's entirely possible that it's been asleep since the Tracker's master determined its existence (and was probably indirectly killed by it) more than 40 years prior to the game.

Phase 2's section where Shara's eyes open is one of the best mini-reveals of something that i didn't even notice my first time fighting him. When his eyes open and he's looking at the camera instead of the hunter and you SEE that.. that's horrifying. I'm certain that Shara Ishvalda was digging in the Everstream to kill Jiivas before it's too late and since there were many of them in the New World, it had to be more destructive than in past awakenings.
      As the Seeker said, Jiivas are like humans in the way that they have a malicious intent to create fake ecosystems to lure monsters in so they fight each other, die and get consumed by them. There are many empty cocoons in the Secluded Valley aswell but only one Safi'Jiiva, so something must have happened (they probably got killed/eaten by another monster).

    Unequivocally my favorite hunt in the entirety of Monster Hunter. The Sapphire Star of the fifth, and the friends and family that they’ve come to know and love venturing out to a point where home is hardly a feasible distance away, to an island housing a creature with untold power.
    You’re not the only one that came seeking this horror, a familiar face has also come with a similar motive - to prevent the further destruction of the continent so many call home. You battle, the victor is the one that is given the honor to face this horror from below.
    The sapphire star is victorious, and Nergigante falls. When Nergi does fall, the creature that dwells within the Earth, the one who looked skyward and birthed the mountains, the old everwyrm makes itself known.
    And to think that’s just the start
