- Mastodon Documentary Workhorse Chronicle Part 1
Explains how this legendary band was formed and an insight into the band's early days starting out.
Watch this if you're excited as me for the new album 'Emperor of Sand'
I love how the grimiest dude in the band spent the whole time in the shower.
Is it just me or does Troy look like the nicest person on the planet. I couldn't imagine him angry.
You dont want him angry
3 things you should fear.
A storm on the seas.
A night without a moon.
and the fury of a gentle man.
"Brent used to have to run off stage while naked to avoid getting arrested... that actually happened once..."
Video cuts to Brent laying down in the tour van...
"That was awesome."
Brann is such a beast behind the kit
bionic... bionic
the only regret i have is that i've never met guys like these - in my entire life - to form a band or just to hang out
I feel you man
troy's transformation from that cute awkward dork into majestic wise wizard is awesome and hillarious
Fully grey wizard these days too
Oh boy time for my annual re-watch of this.
I had no idea who they were at the time, but I remember them coming to the arcade I worked in to play Ms. PAC Man. They approached me at the counter and the lady with the camera said they were filming a video for a band called Mastodon. Asked if they could film in the arcade and I was like “sure why not🤷♂️”. Afterward, I told a friend who was a fan of their music and he freaked out. I’ve always wondered what they used the footage for. Now I know. Haha.
I remember Bill being a really nice dude.
Dope story, Bill is extremely nice, same with Brann and Troy, Brent is cool too and nice a lot of the time but he can also be kind of crazy especially if he’s too fucked up, he’s definitely has some dick moments over the years while none of the others really have. Whole band is awesome tho.
watching this for the tenth time probably
Philipp L. those are rookie numbers
Me the same , i just FREAKING LOVE THIS FUCKING BAND ...
This guys are just cool
“It’s better to expect nothing and go out there and do what you love”
I agree
I was at that stadium show in the beginning where it was 57 000 people.
Gothenburg Ullevi, Sweden. 2005. Mastodon and Maiden
It’s hilarious that Brann looks almost exactly the same all the way in 2021, man is a legend behind the kit too.
I saw them in Athens, Ga. At a garage, maybe ten people there...I felt very privileged then to hear them that up close, sitting on a couch just going, damn...
I love toy stores!! *Blast beats*
Brann got stronger.
Bill got more tattoos.
Brent... got fatter.
And Troy's beard got whiter?
Updated version would be Troy turned into a white lion. The madman Brent got that gnarly face/head Tat lol, bill got the killer stache and more normal hairdo and Brann looks the exact same as he did like 20 years ago, it’s crazy how little Brann has changed his look or how little it looks like he’s aged.
As a person who lives in the Atlanta area I think it's hilarious that Troy's being interviewed at Fernbank.
Bill is one cool dude.
I've looked for this for about 6 months. Thank you.
20:54 FINALLY!!
This band made my favorite song
Brent Hinds looks like a dude who really gets too wasted to become tolerable once or twice each month.
He usually is the most debth im the band. Has the ability to have country rock aspects to being able to come up with A March of Fire Ants. His nose is somewhat appears to be broken and the scar is still there most of the takes. Suggests drunk fights.
Troy is like am anchor. Deep down, he's as crazy as Brent but has a much more restrained demeanour.
Brann is the drive and energy and Bill is the guy who adds character to the rest.
This band is like the perfect synergy ever.
Bill is the same one out of them I think he keeps them on the ground
Troy's vocals were just incredible omgggg
Holy shelter) shit man! Thanks for this. Getting all hyped for emperor of the sands
gotta love mastodon!
i love all the iron maiden rep from brann throughout this, lmao
Saw them in 2005 with Slayer or Megadeth. Really wish I was into them so I could've appreciated the boys more. They played well but I didn't know a thing about em.
Trudeau Must Go I also saw them open for Slayer around that time, but had "pre-gamed" a bit too much to remember their set, and I didn't know anything from them at the time. I do remember the tightness of the music however. Have enjoyed learning and listening to them since.
I swear to God they're all so damn funny it's crazy to think they're writing all this like concept depressing, morbid shit content wise. Love this band a lot.
Awesome
oh where has this channel been all my life
i love how brann is holding his iron maiden frame
I'd marry troy. I mean I wouldn't do gay stuff with him, maybe. But I'd definitely marry the dude.
yea its so interesting to see how much Troy has changed and how little Brent has changed since their crazy days before Mastodon was formed.
This is fckng awesome !!!
wish i was there.
Brent and Brann smokin through their nose is hilarious
ty for this! For some reason i can't find any other version of this old documentaries
Yea that's why I uploaded it
A dUR!!
Troy’s voice is heavenly.
que grande marley tocando la bateria en mastodon
te quiero
best drummer in the world imo
He's in my top 2... So I cannot argue with you
Long live Mastodon \,,/
first two albums fucked me up forever. cheers
I have all of their autographs. These guys rule. Especially when you're on a heavy dose of LSD...
3:43 foreshadowing
Wish I could find the full fiend concert. Stupido sounded on point
This is from 2004-2005
So Brann and Bill were in a band together, while Troy and Brent were in a band together, then they all got together as one band of 4. I think that actually qualifies them for supergroup status. Well, I guess it requires the bands they came from to be hugely successful or popular or something ahead of time but depending on who you ask they succeeded in it ... even if only like 20-30 people knew who their original bands were. lol
Bill and Brann were in 2 bands together, lethargy for like 6ish yrs and today is the day for 1 of their albums. They’ve been in bands together for the last 30 years straight. Fuckin legends, all 4 of them kick ass. They a supergroup talent wise in my book.
@Larry the Lion so so true
7:05 Bill Kelliher confirmed brony.
Saw these guys in 2004 in traverse city , mi they were on tour with nebula or red fang? or both? I was fucking pist I missed nebula cuz they opened that knite. But these guys fucking rocked so hard it cheered me up. None of them are ever going to make it this far north again.; (
troy sanders looks like chris Pontius from jackass
I never would've thought that myself but you know what? you're right
and brent is ryan dunn , brann is steve-o , and billis ehren hahahahah
Houssine Ait Ali I feel like Troy is more Bam Margera than Chris.
Bill is more like Johnny Knoxville in Mastodon not really for his looks but his attitude in the gang that more like an elder brother for them and both of person are the same age
shit is dope
What year was this filmed?
Can someone tell me the background music around the 17:30 mark?
It's called "Union Of Flies" from Social Infestation
Bill is fuckin awesome!
1:09 whats that song name?
I think it's funny how Troy and Brent swirled hair
Ha ha ha Bernt is so damn funny!
9:45 what's that song in the background
Workhorse
This reminds of a strange dream i had after omrts came out in which troy had come out as gay... Very strange
And here he is on his 200th interview, probably numb and wishing people would stop asking him the same damn questions over and over again.
Blood Mountain was released in 2006. The 3rd studio album.
What's the song at 21:57?
"The very first reincarnation, or carnation.." Hahaha almost, Brent!
lol brann tripping ball is funny asf 😂
What bass is Troy playing here?
Fender Prophecy II
24:37
Brann could be Harland Williams' brother
Sad they didn't bring up Today is the day at all
Agreed. That feels like a glaring omission to me (even though Brann and Bill were only in TITD for about a year).
@@prlysis That, and because Steve is the one who was already on Relapse and got the people on the label to notice Brann and Bill. Took em on a tour with Neurosis and Voivod for crying out loud. There was this written interview that's now taken down about Steve talking bout this... he's cool with Brann these days. Cannot say the same about Bill lol
Song at 0:50?
Álbum remission, go listen
3:59 song??
Mother Puncher from Remission.
Thanks!!
What's the song at 10:10 anyone?
C21H30O2 shadows that move from life's blood ep or the call of the Mastodon album
Thanks man, damn and I thought I knew all their stuff, listening to Call of the Mastodon right now :D
C21H30O2 anytime dude! if you also want to listen to something Mastodon but with a twist listen to the taste of chaos ensemble's version of leviathan
Brent, pre head injury was rad.
Chris Gnarlambos Brent post head injury is also rad. Crack the skye proves that.
He's still just as dumb, and goofy, and fucking lethal on guitar. If he had any brains to begin with maybe the head injury would've affected it but alas he's more monster than man. He's impervious to head injuries. Just kidding, he's not dumb. He's just not very smart either LOL but he is surely a beast on the fiddle so to speak.
Are they English? I thought they were from Alabama?
gudalpesanz No, they are from Alanta Georgia. Brent (The cigarette through nose guy.) Grew up in bama though.
Generic Name I was joking. I knew they are Georgia.
Dark Vader.
We kinda got a reputation for making small kids vomit.haha thats hilarious
why is bill in a chuck e cheese? XD
Why does Brent have a wing nut on his necklace? Lol
0:11 Ullevi, Gothenburg, Sweden. Right after Leviathan, opening act for Metallica. Good Times, Good Times.
I can also see how brent would get in fights when drunk.. He seems like he could be really incessant and annoying and overly jokey
tom fraser he’s a huge prick if you disagree with him lol
Correct he does seem like the kind of drunk that at his worst starts really acting out and is more at risk for getting arrested for the shit they do, otherwise
I met and hung out with him a few times while living in Atlanta and on one occasion he was super fucked up, broke my roommates bong, we were all wasted to be fair. Got to jam w him in my room and he told me I was an "overplayed" lol I was trying to play to him and he was going off so I played a damn-esque on drums. Crazy day.
mastodon roasting british
seeing Troy using a pick is wack
they're such awkward speds i love it
Wahahhaha brent's accent reminds me of spinal tap ahahahah
Man there was funny shit in this doco lol
This band fucking made show yourself
Donovan Alexander you must not listen to Mastodon. You may hear them but not listen to them. Just because they don't sound like a combination of Lethargy and four hour fogger anymore doesn't mean they suck. They awesome! They are actually one of the few metal band that play beautifully. Every single one of these dudes makes sure they produce beautiful heavy metal that all of their fans can and will get into.
AND???? What's your fuckin point??
@@dalekay9ine I personally love show yourself. I listen to it almost everyday. But to each his own
Dude. Get a real kit. Looks like a 10yr Olds xmas gift kit. Really
What's the song at 20:54?
first track on their Call of the Mastodon album, "Shadows That Move".
