Babu Culture Restaurant in Kolkata is a pocket-friendly Bengali-themed fine cuisine diner, opposite Dover lane post office. Dover lane is one of the oldest residential areas in South Kolkata , it has zamindari ambiance, green wooden door, bay windows and old paintings. Although they offer a wide range of signature dishes under their A-la-carte section, including Deem aloo posto, Mochar Malai Chop, Narkel Shorshe diye Potol-er Paglami, Dhakai Ilish, railway vegetable cutlets, Mashladar Anarash Bhaja, Shankarpuri Kankra, and Daaber Payesh, we were drawn to their curated Mahabhoj Thalis. These set menus are broadly categorised with vegetarian options alongside fish, chicken, mutton, and prawn variations. Mahabhoj Thalis in Babu Culture are priced further according to the choice of fish from options like sorshe dhakai ilish, sorshe Pabda, Chingri malaicurry, and Bhetki Paturi. Mutton Kosha in Babu Culture Kolkata is one of the best I have ever had. One of the another most iconic dishes we tried in Babu culture was Shoshar Shukto with its dominating note of cucumber. Bengali food is extremely diverse however as a Bengali food lover I would always prefer Bengali dishes, cooked in bata masla. Inspiration by the old Babuyana homely cooking style, Babu Culture is a traditional bistro where you’ll get all the dishes are cooked in bata masala.
