- Hello!
I know this is not a beauty video but with so many requests and questions regarding pharmacy I wanted to take advantage of BACK TO SCHOOL season to talk about it. Both my boyfriend and I are in pharmacy school currently and I gathered both of ours experience to answer the questions I gathered. I hope it is helpful and informative. Of course there is more to what I have mentioned so please feel free to ask me questions below. Also, if you're also in the same profession and have some additional advice or would like to share any experience feel free to! It's very helpful to everyone who's reading/watching as well :D

Congratulations on graduating from Pharm School! I'm a college freshman and I started college with the idea that I wanted to be a pharmacist. However, one of my professors scared me away from the career, but after watching this I feel better about my decision!
Shit! Me to! I talked to one college teacher in fire careers like a fire fighter but than I was like it’s a boring job the schooling is boring and just sitting around for long time like a “dumb” job no brain effort job 😂 he said what do I wanna do than and I said pharmacist I get to still help ppl but not a dr that sees sick ppl like a dr in a hospital. I don’t wanna tough sick ppl 😂 anyways professor was like ha! That’s not a real job ur family won’t take u serious that a lazy job . And the whole family won’t take me serious like I will b working at cvs or same place someone go buys hot Cheetos really? Hurt me so I gave up that thought of being a pharmacist but I got inspired again watching this vid! I went to college ASAP after high school for 2 years trying to get my associates degree but than stopped going kuz I got so lost and I didn’t know wer I wanted to go and what degree to get .
ChillinCruzin go for it
I will probably break down in tears when I see that I have been admitted to Pharmacy school! I want it that bad!
Michael Alay You will get it! People who want it really badly most likely will continue to work hard in order to get it. Don't give up!
Michael Alay You'll break down in tears even more once you graduate with no job and 6 figures of debt. The Pharmacy job market is over oversaturated and will only get worse as greedy schools pump and more and more pharmacy students.
Intranetusa I'm in Alberta Canada, that's not an issue here. Haha
+Tyler Fisher did u get certified & land a job before doing pre pharmacy?? I'm about to do that instead of going back to school full time
I said the very same thing! Tears of joy of course.
i just got a call from pharmarcy school...and i'm going to the interview this april..wish me luck
this vid is helpful thank u
Gud luck
@@musicvily8380 how'd it go? :3
THIS WAS SOSOSOSO HELPFUL!! Thank you. It was incredibly wonderful of you to spend time telling us about this.
I have a degree in Pharmacy and Chemistry it's an amazing career I love it and I work as a CRA !!!
ABRIL DIAZ AVILA :D Glad you're loving your career!
Cool.
Your video really spoke to me! I appreciate the time you took to inform others on the pharmacy topic! thank you!
I'm a fifth year student in Doctor of Pharmacy (5 year) program! final exams are this September.
Can't wait to finish. These 5 years were the toughest part of my life, not because of pharmacy and its contents - which btw if you give time isn't that difficult, but because of the living conditions, hardships and health issues i had to go through while i was undergoing all this.
So after you got your Pharm.D you just went right into working? No more years of school correct?
I like the the challenge! Ima try to get into pharmaceuticals!
Where did you go to school?
Jen, thank you so much! This is what I really needed to hear today and I'm glad I found you here. :) This is truly helpful and I would usually skip though when I watch a video of people talking. But, this. I watched it non-stop from the beginning to the end. Once again, Thank you. !
You are such an inspiration! I am so motivated even though I am not related to Pharmacy at all :)
Yvonne Hu Aw you're so sweet Yvonne :D
Hi, I'm glad I was able to see this video, I want to go for pharmacy tech then probably go for a pharmacist 😁 but thanks for this motivated video 💕💕 CONGRATS TO YOU ON GRADUATING THIS YEAR!! 🎉🎉🎊🎊🎊🎉🎉🎉 I know your family is so proud of you! ❤️
omg!!! wOW...tHANK YOU SO MUCH..I am so happy that I went through this video....Great job girl!! You have a long way to go...
Awesom Jen! I watch all of your videos and I'm glad you did one about school! I'm not interested in pharmacy but what you talked about applies to so many other professions. I tried to get into CZcams to share by beauty knowledge but it was just way too hard with school. So kudos to you for finding time to do both!
Same here! I've been watching CZcams beauty vids for 6 long years and I tried many times to keep up with my blog and start a CZcams channel but school took up ally time! Props to her for being able to do both!
Tricia Fierce Thank you so much babe!
Thank you, this informations are so helpful. Good luck to all of you who are applying to pharmacy school as well as other professions.
Thank you so much for posting this video. I have always been thinking of going into the Pharmacy field.
I'm in my 3rd year of pharmacy school and I totally agree to everything you said!!! ☺️. You're such an inspiration and you have totally great makeup taste!!!!!
this was so so so helpful! I'm going to my 3rd year of undergrad and I really needed to hear some advice from someone in Pharmacy school themselves. Thank you so much for this post! :) It also inspired me to keep trying even if I do fail my PCAT or getting admitted into the school.
Hey what is your undergrad major? I wanted to be a pharmacist and my counselor said to try biochemistry (medicinal Science)
Thank you for all the info really appreciated because both my daughters are in the medical fields at university one is in medical school and the other in pharmacy school.. congratulations you'll be an awesome pharmacist..
Great advice. I remember working my butt off to get in! Glad it worked out. Thanks for the video!
Ohmygod thank you SO much. Not only is this a very encouraging detailed video but you also put links to a forum and about the app process. Im currently attending a community college and i dont come from a college prep family so i dont know what the hell i am doing. TYSM
I am currently a pharmacy technician and have been struggling with weather I should become a pharmacist or stay a technician and I can say you gave me a lot of useful information and encouragement to start school in the fall. ❤️
Definitely inspiring me to make videos as well for current and future pharmacy students. Thank you for this.
Thank you for that detailed video on pharmacy and for the encouraging words
this was very helpful and inspiring! I'm a pharmacy tech right now and looking to go back to school hopefully to become a pharmacist! thank you!
I was just accepted into a 3-year accelerated PharmD program today! This is a great video with some excellent advice. :)
Are you a pharmacist now?
@@KCM1 Yes! I didn't end up doing the 3 year program, but I've been graduated for a year.
wonderful video, I am finishing up pre-reqs for MLT but was wondering if I could go into pharm. Not only was this video helpful, but inspired me.I know its going to be tough, but I tell myself that I am smart and if other people do it, I can too! I had no idea you did beauty vlogs as well, and I am also going to watch those too! I started getting into makeup this year and I am awaiting the naked2 palette that is on its way to me from sephora as we speak. squeee! Thanks again for such an awesome insight!
Very informative, I really appreciate that you covered lots of the pros and cons about pharmacy and made me feel more confident about my decision :)
I hope that means you decided on a hard pass. You'd have to be crazy to pursue pharmacy now. This vid was filmed over 6 yrs ago and the job outlook now is bleak
Thanks!! This helped a lot! So many things that go on in life and what u said is very inspirational. 😁
Great idea for a video! My husband just graduated pharmacy school. I LOVE that you're a professional with a beauty blog. I am a lawyer and I feel like too few of us use our knowledge to help people be successful in other areas. Awesome video, love you even more now :)
Any idea where you want to end up working? Residency, hospital, retail?
Primal Beauty Queen Aw congratulations to you and your husband! I am thinking retail because I like the fast pace and want to do management but not sure yet. Did your husband do residency??
He didn't do a residency. We moved to NYC shortly after we graduated, and the job market here is a little tight! We're still looking for something for him.
Good luck with retail! You'd be wonderful in a management position...I can tell by how organized your videos are!
I’m still deciding on what I want to do in life. I’ve been thinking about either becoming a pharmacist or a dentist. I’m leaning more towards becoming a pharmacist. I love helping ppl but I don’t want to be touchy either. And being able to give the right medications for various diseases sounds interesting. It’s crazy how I found something that I really want to do
I am doing pre req for pharm school, and taking all those pre req science classes just wearing me out. Your video just inspired me to work harder. Congrats for almost graduating. Best wishes for you :)
How did you do? I'm about to start taking my pre-reqs and I'm nervous. I have a business degree, but I need science pre-reqs before I apply to pharmacy school...
Thank you soo much for this video! !! I am a Biology major but had to leave half way threw due to person reasoning. But I am very interested in pursuing my career in the health field. Your vodeo gave me a great guide to get started and I truly appreciate. Good luck on your future endeavors and God bless!! :)
Did you get in?
OMG THIS VIDEO! I'm so glad I across this. I am a second year undergraduate working on my BS in biology and I recently got super interested in Pharmacy, not because of the money lol I mean I'm gonna be in debt for most part but like the idea of making the medication or recommending. So like YU said have a lot experience? I am studying to get my Pharm tech license and get a job, and also I am going to join the pre pharmacy club at my college! My question is like should I contact the school I'm planning on attending and ask if I'm on the right track? Like idk I'm scared, the pressure of not finding a job is intimidating.
A very helpful insight.. Thanks
I'm a dual enrolling high school Junior who is in the pharmacy tech program, after watching your video i am more inspired of going to UF to get all my pre-requisite credits in order to apply for Pharmacy school!! Thanks for telling me about your experience! :)
Very helpful video, Im only in my 2nd year of university but thought it would be helpful to look into the process ahead of time.
Excellent Video! Thank You So Much For Your Insightful Information!
It's funny. I've been subscribed forever and just now watching this video. My 4th year rotations are starting this May, so I'm really excited and look forward to it. Just wanted to mention that dentistry was also my other career option I was thinking about. ^_^
This was everything thank you SO much. I'm seriously considering pharmacy school.
This is very inspiring and makes me feel better on choosing pharmacy course although its sound quite hard but i'll try my best to make sure myself studying and woking in this profession in the future :)
This is a great video :) Two of my cousins graduated Pharmacy school at USC (my uncle is the head of the department) and although I was never really into science/medicine/chemistry etc (I work in Accounting), I always wondered what it was like and what they'd actually do. So thanks for making this video! Seems like a wonderful career :)
Chrissy Review Thanks Chrissy and accounting is challenging on it's own so props to you!
this was a great video! thank you so much, I know I want to be a pharmacist and this was very helpful :)
Props for becoming a pharmacist. I always found it challenging as a med student to study drugs and I'm just amazed how y'all know so much about drugs.
lovexperfusion Thanks! It is definitely challenging and not like it's my favorite thing to do either lol. Med school is crazy hard and time consuming so PROPS to you my dear!!!
You really encouraged me😊
It was amazing 👌🏻
Thanks 🌺🌿
The current PCAT doesn't have negative marking.. you can do all the questions..
Loved your vedio. ❤
I'm starting college this semester as a biochem major because I'm an aspiring pharmacist. Anxiety is getting to me because I don't know if I can do it. But I know if I work hard and stay motivated it will pay off in the end and I might even get into pharmacy school. I'm going to look back at this video when I need some inspiration lol
itsrheny hang in there, it gets better.
itsrheny good luck. after wasting my life for a,bit. not knowing what I wanted to do and finally getting my pharm tech certificate. I too want to attend pharmacy school to become,a pharmacist. nervous also.
dont ruin your life. change 'career' plans.
itsrheny someone's got to do it. Might as well be you
itsrheny how did biochem turn out i want to know so i could major in that as well im a senior in high school
Very informative video! Good luck on your P4 year!
Sharon Khaw Thank you! Almost there :D
This was so helpful! Thank you so so much.
I'm in my first year in pharmacy and I thank you for this video! Midterms are vastly approaching ah!!
Lisa Ho Good luck to you Lisa!!! Enjoy your first year!
Thanks for this video. :) It really helped motivate me boost my gpa. It sounds like I have a long road to travel before I reach Pharmacy school(Currently I'm in my second year of post-secondary and I'm working a lot at the same time to prevent accumulated debt.).
I'm glad I was in a 0-6 program. Didn't need to take the PCAT! I just gotta survive pharmacy school which I did and graduated and is licensed this year. Yay! good luck to the rest of your journey to becoming a great pharmacist! =D
springblossom1 Lucky! It's getting harder and harder each year with more requirements and has gotten really competitive. Thank you!
springblossom1 what is the 0-6 program
Eson Hime straight from high school to pharmacy program
AW
Isn’t that how it’s supposed to be everywhere in the world??
This is my path! Thank you for this video.
How cool i never knew u were doing this! I'm graduating soon from my Pharmacy Assistant study.. It's funny cuz the study is 3-4 years.. and we learn the same stuff you learn as a Pharmacist..
This was SO helpful. Thank you!
Thank you!! Your advice is 100% helpful. Blessings and peace!!
I Really loved it
Orjwan Al-essa I will try to make more videos on it. Ultimately my channel is beauty related but with more requests from subscribers I will do it.
I love that this video is so helpful and informative! Congrats on almost completing Pharmacy school! For the longest time, I wanted to become a pharmacist as well, but in university I changed my mind because I felt like business classes just clicked more better with me! But props to you for completing all of your pre-reqs with a competitive GPA (I mean O chem II was hard), getting great references, doing well on the PCAT, and of course doing well in the interview! That's a really big accomplishment, and you should be really proud of yourself!
Asma M haha Ochem II was definitely something else!! Thank you for such encouraging words!! Everyone one has their own calling and I'm happy you found yours.
EmJustLikeYou you have gorgeous eyes haha
Asma M
So informative! I'm nowhere near this profession but I still found it interesting lol
Briana- BeautyThroughBri Thank you! it makes me happy to hear that and thanks for watching this even though it's nowhere near your profession. It would bore me to death! :D
Congrats on (almost) graduating and good luck on your licensing exams! I hope I do as well as you do in pharmacy. Did you have a pharm tech job while in school? If not, did you volunteer somewhere?
I really inspire to graduate and explore new things about pharmacy, thank you so much for that advice..I hope someday,I will be a successful like you too..
This was soo extremely helpful! THANK YOU :)
Nirvana Islam Thanks! Happy to hear that :D
You really are inspiring to me!!! Thank you
So informative! Thank you so much!
YEYYYYYY thats awesome that you did this vid :D
omg this videooo was so helpful!!!! :) i really want to be a pharmacist for all the same reasons u said! But i have a question.. what did you major in?? like dont u have to major in something first before u take the pre-reqs?
Congratulations on almost being done with Pharmacy school!! This video is extremely helpful! I am a first year completing my undergrad and my dream job is to become a pharmacist. My question to you is would it beneficial to major in bio, chem, or something science related to get into pharm school or is it just important to complete the pre requisites?
Hi! Thank for making this video, i like your advices very much.. This serve as my motivation.:) btw i'm also a pharmacy student just graduated last april.
Hope to become a pharmacist myself! Thank u for this!
MEG ROSE did you?
Very informative video. Thanks so much!
Good luck on the naplex. I would not recommend the pronto cards if you plan to be licensed in other states beside Texas. My advice as a new practitioner 2010 grad is apply early, don't wait until the due date, maybe apply at least 2 months ahead. some programs are rolling admission meaning they admit as they go so later dates have fewer spots because they offer and students sent in their acceptance letter and even if they are not you still get 1st pick of interview dates and most likely hear back sooner for your acceptance. Volunteerism is also important or sub for work experience if it's hard to find a tech job, undergrad I helped at the free medical clinic and local hospital. Also be up to date with current events in pharmacy or healthcare you may get questions or schools have essay portion during the interview day. And residencies are another talk...best of luck!
rxabyee Thank you for the advice! And you're right on the things I didnt mention. Thank you for adding it!
Thank you sooo much for this video. I admire you so much! I'm 18, and I believe nothing more than that pharmacy is for me!
I'm a planner, and I honestly worry so much about whether or not I'll get into pharmacy school. I started college my junior year of high school and graduated with my hs diploma and AA together. I happened to take a few of the prerequisite courses for pharmacy school during that time, but I didn't know that they were prerequisites then. Since I had so much on my plate, my grades were somewhat affected. I hope they don't criticize people too much for retaking a few courses (I got a few Cs).
Since the pharmacy schools I'll be applying to in FL only really require the pre-reqs (and an AA for UF), I thought I'd stay at my local community college to save money. However, I'm now considering transferring into a pre-pharmacy track/bachelors program at another university in town (Florida Internat'l Uni.) so I can hopefully get more hands-on and involved in the pharmacy community. What's your opinion?
I also volunteer in the pharmacy at a hospital but don't do much other than pick up phone calls and some paper work. Also, I've never had a job so is there anything else that might help me stick out from the rest?
Sorry for such a long comment and thank you in advance!
I also volunteer in the pharmacy at a hospital but don't do much, and I've never had a job. Is there anything else I can do to help my application stick out?
Thanks in advance and sorry for bombarding you with my long comment! Lol
OH AND CONGRATS!!!! Sorry, I'm just so excited to have come across your video. It was really encouraging, especially coming from another Asian "sista."
Xoxo
Cheryll Garcia You can work as technician as well but volunteering helps you get connections for recommendation letters from pharmacist and trust me you're learning more than others by volunteering. Knowing their system and how they work is important. I think going to community college is great! Saving money and getting all the pre-requisites done. Some school require upper level classes such as biochem and community college does not have that. So you need to read more into the school you're wanting to apply to. GOOD LUCK!
Thank you for your time to make this for a new comer of Pharmacy. I am still in my prerequisite stage but near the PCAT stage. Sometimes I wonder is it worth it. Looking how much farther I have to go. Then I tell myself, time is going to go by anyway why not stop jinxing yourself. So thanks again for giving your advice and tips I needed it..
Victoria Collier Keep going Victoria! It will be all worth it in the end. I've been in school after highschool for 8 years... and counting my whole life 23 years. And it will be worth it! Don't put all this effort now and give up. Always look at where the finish line is and focus on that.
hey Just found ya, more pharmacy students should make videos/become youtubers and share their studies! I'm a pharmacy student myself (not a youtuber tho lol) I love seeing students/ pharmacists around the world share their passion about this interesting field!!
Thanks al lot for ur advice really i enjoyed listening to you
Your video was very insightful. My question was that if you go out to study pharmacy out of state, would you then have to take another pharmacy exam to come back and practice in your state? Or is pharmacy universal discipline for the US? Does it differ in each state or will pharmacy school cover pharmacy practicum for that state alone? Please comment.
How long were you in school overall, like including undergrad and in the pharm d program?
That’s exactly why I want to be a pharmacist. I don’t want to touch any1 but I want to be in the medical field.
Thank you! Love you so much
am 30 years old and I feel too old to be starting Pharmacy school. I need all the advice I can get. Thanks for sharing
Angelxbaby88
I'm 30 too I'm thinking about going I already have an M.S. it's not too late we can do it.
Thank you for putting this out there. I am 42 and dreaming of going back to school to do this. I have 26 yrs in vet med/biomedical research. I can relate when you say that you dont want to touch stuff LOL I am SICK of seeing animals die and having to kill animals. Pharmacy fascinates me and it will force me to get over my math phobia. Even if i dont get there...this inspires me to TRY and makes me believe its possible. Your beautiful inside and out. WELL DONE on this video and congrats on getting this far!! In a few months your THERE!! YOU GO PRETTY ASIAN GIRL!!
pinkspeeder Aw thank you so much for the encouraging words. WOW vet med/biomedical research? You're a genius! Going to school at any age is so worth it. You can do it! Baby steps and then you'll be there as well :D
no no..hunny..im a vet TECH only two year degree, and im an Rlatg, registered lab animal technologist..im the flunky who makes somewhere between 12-20/hr at best depending..i do the dirty work for vets and researchers and specialize in transgenic mouse colony management in one area and ER medicine in another area...i dont have a BS degree and NEED one SO bad to make REAL money and a decent lively hood...
EmJustLikeYou YOU are smart and beautiful and very vidy too.take a look at your room. Its very organized. To think you had to go through the stress of schooling and still stay neat and clean is a wow
Great video, I'm starting my pre-reqs and it's probably going to take me least 3 years, and this fall i'm starting my 2nd. Really nervous about everything and I'm trying to get my pharm tech licenses to help me on my journey to get accepted in a pharm school. :s
Very helpful!
What if you had 2 choices: a top 10 school according to US News & World Report or a 75 ranking school that you are more comfortable with and like the curriculum/environment more?
This video helped a lot thank you !
Thank you so much for this!
I love this video and you're beautiful! Thank you so much for the advice and tips. I'm a senior in high school and want to become a Pharmacist I'm debating on whether or not to major in Chemistry or Biology, but I wanted to know what your major was for undergrad
Jasmine Halls My degree was in interdisciplinary studies so it doesn't have to just be science base :D Good luck! And congrats on graduating
Thanks for your informative video! I live in TX so we have a 6 drop limit and I dropped 4 classes already. Due to this, I am a part-time student and a little scared that if I become a full-time student I will not be able to handle it and drop another course. However, I am going to suck it all up and try my best to become full-time so that I Pharmacy school admission committees or whatever it is called lol can see that I can handle the load of classes. My question is does it matter that I take long to grad with a Bachelors? ( and I am talking about more than 6 years of undergrad). I hope you see this question.
Wow you really broke it down I am thinking about changing from nursing to pharmacy and really have been thinking
Hi Jen! I recently landed an interview for pharmacy school! I was wondering what kind of clothes would be appropriate to wear? Maybe you could also tell me what you wore to your interviews? Thanks!!
When you said the thing about helping but not touching I was like yess!! I have no idea what I want to do and I'm going to be a senior so I'm stressing because I have no clue.. I know I want something to do with helping people and I kinda like the idea of being a pharmacist
Great video :). I don't want to be a pharmacist, but I still enjoyed the information you shared.
Crystal Taylor thanks Crystal for watching even though it doesn't pertain to you. :D
Thanks so much for this video! It's really appreciated! :-)
Misty Franklin No problem dear :D
Hi :) I live in South Africa , studying pharmacy . Your video has inspired me so much thank you ?! I'll be in second year this year ( sooo nervous ) do you have any study tips ? And advice on how to deal with the work . I've heard that the work load is so much more compared to first year
im am going to keep warching your video till i get into phatmacy school, i really wanna go into pharmacy. this video inspired me :) thanks
reem ahmed haha thank you so much dear! I will probably do a follow up video on additional questions you guys ask. Of course I couldn't have covered everything in this video only but more to come! GOOD LUCK!
Hi, I'm a freshmen in my high school, what other heath classes do I need to take and do I go to college then, pharmacy school?
I am a pharmacist. I think what is most important that you should tell everybody about is that currently there are too many pharmacy schools. Many graduates will have a difficult time finding a job and may have to relocate. Many pharmacies are not hiring full time (at least not 40 hours a week) and the pay and benefits are actually decreasing. I hate to be the one to bring bad news but it is something to consider before spending lots of money, time and effort to finish the pharmacy program. Once you are in pharmacy school, you really do not have to worry about grades unless you plan on doing clinical residency. If you will work retail, which most do, nobody will ever ask you what grades you got. All anybody cares about is if you are licensed.
Thank you beautiful for the great advice and congrats
Thanks you for this video! I am a Junior in High School and I am working my way up to become a Pharmacist. I am very confused on what to do after High School... do I go straight to Pharmacy College for Pre-Pharmacy. I am really confused on what both means and what's the difference about these step. Can you please give me a step by step on what to do after High School!!! Thanks♡
You go girl!!!
I'm a PY1 at a top pharmacy school and I am trying to get myself to standout more. I was thinking of summer pharmacy internships, did you ever have any? What other experience gaining leadership or enrichment programs/activities have you participated in pharmacy school? Also would you suggest any resources that have helped you for classes? I do love the Student Doctor Network site and would recommend that to anybody wanting more info about any health related programs! Thank you for your video!
Hello, I just saw your video! I wish you could answer my question:
Do you think having a Chemistry bachelors will help me in Pharmacy school? Do you think it's possible to get into it without having any job experience? (such as pharmacy tech or so) And do you think volunteering helps a lot?
