Hi Darrell: Excellent video. I got into website building about 6 years ago and lucked out on two things in my second year. Siteground as my hosting company and a lifetime membership with Elegant Themes. And a big thumbs up for Siteground for anybody needing a hosting company. In my first year of building websites I tried a few of the standard hosting companies. I think their tech support people are clerks with an FAQ sheet in front of them and about 50% of the advice I received was wrong. I've been with Sitegroud about 5 years. I spent a lot of time in tech support in the beginning and they were never wrong on the advice they gave me. And you can get into their tech support people in about 3 minutes and if you have a problem that requires somebody to go into your dashboard and fix whatever mistake you made, they'll do it. Fast, smart, and always right in my case. Can't recommend them enough and my only complaint is that they don't sell lifetime memberships. Drat! I have no plans of ever changing my hosting company. They're the best.

Darrel I just want to thank you so much for this tutorial. I’ve built about a dozen websites over the last 15 years Using applications like Adobe muse. And I’ve always shied away from wordpress. But I recently made a commitment to driving into WP with divi. I’ve watched many tutorials and really did’t. getting a grasp on the concept and how to do it. But after watching your tutorials I gain those “ahhhh” moments that really helped me get my mind around how WP and divi works. Thank you again so much… And again I think that you’ve offered this up for free. WOW!!!

Great tutorial, Darrel! This was my very first tutorial that I watched on how to build a website using Divi. Not because it was the first one I saw, because I screened out a lot of others that weren't as easy to follow. Thanks for investing so much time in helping others. I used to use StudioPress Genesis with Lifestyle Child Theme, but wanted to switch to Drag and Drop because it just took to long to create and/or modify my sites. Elegant Themes has tons of mini tutorials, but they should ALSO have comprehensive tutorials like you but, if they do have them, I haven't found them. That is a HUGE missing piece to their puzzle. You rock, man!
Around the 25:00 mark, your making an internal link within your website. You can use a relative link for this purpose, instead of an absolute one like you're doing. So instead of www.mysite.com/blog you can use /blog and this will not mess your site up if you had to move it to another domain. Thanks for the video. I love to learn about all this designing in which I'm less versed.

Tutorial is Great. My updated version of DIVI doesn't have some of the features you used. The background color and gradient features for the page header aren't options on my version.
Hi Darrel, I have just watched the first half hour and in keeping with all your videos, it's really, really good. There is one area of website design that does my head in and that's how to size images ...... I have built a few sites and always have trouble with uploading the correct size images. Too big and they load slowly, too small and they look awful..... I might be getting ahead of myself here as perhaps you cover this in the remainder of the video but if not, would it be possible to cover it somewhere? I suspect I am not the only one to have this problem. Thanks so much for your help I love your explanatory style.
Can you add more than one picture to the background with the slide feature ? Or under what we do, how do you add a slide page feature ? So you can show like 5-7 images on what we do …
Do you have an eCommerce Health tutorial? I saw one "pop up" as an ad before your video, it was a DIVI theme (20 minute for beginners) but guess what?????? It doesn't compare to you!!!! Crazy huhn? He was thorough, held my attention, but after following you I was like...nah! As Yukiko said below...you are on another level, just like people say about me. Darrel I need to put 6 buttons with a different image or icon on each button. When the button is clicked it will link in and outside of my site. The buttons would be approximately 100 px by 100 px. I know I can build stack three on top of each other. But because of the design I have, it will not work. I would then drop these buttons into a row which is proportioned on the left with one 3/4 size block, and one on the right with 1/4 block. I know I can use a carousel but the problem with that is I have 300 over to build and that would be too much on one page of the carousel. I have done this with Wix in the past because of their drag and drop layout. I would simply draw each box and place then horizontally across the page. Then I would just add a link. Divi only has the ability to place 4 boxes across the page. Each box needs to operate independently. In a carousel each box or button would always go back to an image in the carousel making the button operate only through the carousel. Not independently. Is there a solution I am not thinking that is available through some plugin or Divi ? I have checked in other areas like Max Buttons. But cannot find how to place six buttons horizontally on a page. Unfortunately I am not a coder of HTML or CSS. I am a designer that generally use systems like Divi or Wix. I had a lot of problems with Wix and switched to Divi . Your advice would certainly be appreciated.

I have a lot of products my own I wanted to know if there is a way to download all of them at once to my website or do I add them one by one? If there is a spreadsheet I can use what format do I need and information. I don't know where to start and it's making me a little crazy.
If you have added them already you can use a plug-in to migrate them however you will have to upload each one by one you can use a third-party service like Fiverr to help you
Great video, I have a question about the invert option. When I try to invert, only my colors change, I cant get the cool cut out effect you seem to make. Does it have something to do with blend mode?

Darrel ... do you have any info on how to set up a website business? Maybe, contract(s) templates, how much to charge for intintial work, how much to charge for ongoing maintenance etc? I haven't even started a business yet but from conversations I've had I can have 12 websites contracts / projects right now.

yeah most of the websites you build will be on a shared hosting, you can charge them any which way you want, theres alot of room for discussion about how you charge people

Hey Darrel, just letting you know that Wix and other people's tutorials are running in your ads. Also, it may be good to make an evolution video. Showing how divi has come from 1.0-3.0 if you can. Great tutorials btw. About Starwars... didn't even go see it. I loved the original ones, classic movies... never taken interest in any of the other new ones.
Great job. Found your videos and just went with your recomendations. Got Div installed after ftp issues. Following along with your video. Added some pages and when I go to appearance, Menus is not a choice, just themes customize and editor. . . ?

In fact, I just made my first website using divi themes :) Also, I downloaded some of the divi layouts from your website, particularly the Elegance one where you have all this .json files. When I try to upload it into the edit page or in the visual builder, I get the message that "this file should not be imported in this context". I googled for answers and found answers about changing your php file and all. complete newbie here bro, haha, so not sure if I should go with that. And oh, in the divi library page, there is no import/export button anymore. (divi 3.5.1) would appreciate your feedback on this bro. Many thanks again!

you can try and upload the images on picmonkey and when you export it, it will reduce the image size, try and keep the images less than 300kb

Great video, I have a question about the invert option. When I try to invert, only my colors change, I cant get the cool cut out effect you seem to make. Does it have something to do with blend mode?

divi has a portfolio module, you can also use a seperate plugin called " essential grid"
I uploaded the new divi theme, but I prefer one that caters more to fashion. can I upload another one instead for my website?

Hey Darrel! My question is if I want to build websites for people like as a small business. Can I use site ground for that purpose? So then if I am paying Siteground, monthly then I can in turn charge my customer for hosting and that takes care of my hosting expenses? Is this sorta how it works or am I way off base? :) Your tutorials are really great!
yeah most of the websites you build will be on a shared hosting, you can charge them any which way you want, theres alot of room for discussion about how you charge people

Hey Darrel, just letting you know that Wix and other people's tutorials are running in your ads. Also, it may be good to make an evolution video. Showing how divi has come from 1.0-3.0 if you can. Great tutorials btw. About Starwars... didn't even go see it. I loved the original ones, classic movies... never taken interest in any of the other new ones.

Great job. Found your videos and just went with your recomendations. Got Div installed after ftp issues. Following along with your video. Added some pages and when I go to appearance, Menus is not a choice, just themes customize and editor. . . ?
Also, I get this long error when I try to look at my page. I have put a ticket in at elegant people. Do you have any idea of problem. When up loading the files there were about twenty files named the same but different sizes. I choose the ones with more recent date.

Hey Darrel! Thanks so much for this... I love love love your tutorial. In fact, I just made my first website using divi themes :)
Also, I downloaded some of the divi layouts from your website, particularly the Elegance one where you have all this .json files.
When I try to upload it into the edit page or in the visual builder, I get the message that "this file should not be imported in this context".
I googled for answers and found answers about changing your php file and all. complete newbie here bro, haha, so not sure if I should go with that.
And oh, in the divi library page, there is no import/export button anymore. (divi 3.5.1) would appreciate your feedback on this bro.
