What crazy first time seeing this, I got a recruiter coming to my house Monday to share some options, looking to get into diesel mechanics, glad to see some import in you, I’m a car guy myself
Nice nice, yeah man I been thinking about for along time, Iike 10yrs long time and now 35 and finally making the decision to do something I like and meet some other gear heads, I don’t know anything about diesel but I’m a big sponges for want to get at it
I stg every POG I ever met says they wish they were combat arms but absolutely love their lives and the people they’re around doing anything other than combat arms
I’m an 11b rn and couldn’t imagine enlisting to be stuck in a motor pool all day. Like while your friends are in Italy jumping out of C17s and getting thermal nods you’re gonna be in some motor pool working till 5 every day
Trucker here, I like fixing cars on my spare time. This should be an interesting transition. Do you get your own tools or will you be issued community use tools?
Oh, how things have changed, Real PT at five, including 10 mile run everyday, except Friday. First Sergeants run on Friday Grrrrr. At work by 8. Did have an hours lunch though. End of the day when motor sergeant said. That was real army. No wonder the call it the golden years of the Army!
Looks really chill tbh mate. Can’t believe your mate complaining about the “dirt” when changing the starter. Looked like a little bit of dried mud… and he made it look like replacing a starter a big job lol. I am thinking about joining the Australian army and doing a hv mechanic trade while serving. I love working on 4x4s and am very mechanical minded done 2 engine swaps into Nissan patrols and am working on my 3rd now my new crate isb Cummins arrived yesterday just waiting for the new gearbox and 3.54 diff centers now. But do you enjoy the job and would you recommend it for people looking at a career change? I am 28 and don’t have any kids yet my fiancé will relocate with me. Also how is alcohol and smoking looked at while serving? I am a heavy bourbon and beer drinker
To be honest with you the guy recording was teaching me how to do most things mechanics wise. He's a 91B (truck mechanic) by trade I'm just a lowly 91j (CBRN equipment repair). He was very patient with me as I complained the entire time 😅
I’m thinking of enlisting as a 91b because I’ve always wanted to join the military and I have pretty advanced mechanical knowledge. Would you say you recommend it?
@Nathan this is the job I have chosen but one of my friend who already spent 5years in US Army advised me not to choose choose this MOS because I will leave everyday at 22 O'clock and I won't have time to call my daughter. Please tell me the truth what time you guys left comparing to the other MOS?
I’m here because I think this would be a great job if college fùcking sucks. I’m just wondering if I get to choose to be here or if I’m forced to be where ever they want me to be
Many "non" combat jobs end up getting involved in combat situations. It is very rare now but 10 years ago it wasn't uncommon to have combat awards across all MoS's.
Question bro I am in the process of enlisting in the army. I am scheduled to take the ASVAB soon. I have automotive ase certifications I am currently a auto tech my recruiter mentioned because of my certifications I can possibly enlist as a E5 what are your opinions on that ?
That would be good it would be a good place to start I feel like I know more than my e5s here so having knowledge will give you a good start into things
I’m unaware of any way to enlist as an E-5 directly. If you have a degree you should be able to enlist as an E4, but nothing higher. Then there is the officer route.
I am doing 91b also they give me the option to put airborne in my contract. Did they give u that option ? U think it’s worth doing ? Did u work with anybody who did what did they think about it
As a professional licensed automotive technician (Canada), I found this almost painful to watch. Just the amount of time and people involved to replace a starter. One thing I can't stand in any shop is having a stereo just blaring loud. Its actually a major distraction that can lead to mistakes. Or its so loud you need to yell just for a colleague to hear you. Come on boys, get your shit together. If you want to be a professional you need to act like one. Im 54 years old. I listen to Heavy and Thrash Metal. So yes, I like extremely loud music. Just not while I'm working.

Can’t vouch for Australian Military, but in Americas military everyone either smokes, dips/ chews, drinks heavy, or all 3.
