When I was a kid I was Raven in an efed (you have a lot of time to kill as a kid.)
Myself and this guy who used Kanyon used the "rich family" angle to make some bad ass RPs.
Not exactly great for building a brooding character, but WCW at very least made their twists interesting.

Good list. I might have added in Doink The Clown, post-Dink. Before Santa gave him the mini clown, Doink was an evil heel clown. The reason it worked as well as it did was because Matt Borne was behind the character, but after Dink joined him, Doink turned babyface, and then you just had a not-funny, good guy clown. And that's....not....very good......at all.

Heel Austin was fantastic. He made a deal with Vince and HHH. HHH got hurt and Austin saw Angle as a threat. That dynamic led to Austin jumping to WCW.
He was a desperate man who did drastic things to keep his throne.
Goddamn, I loved heel Austin vs face Angle. It was compelling.

What about the 'Anonymous General Manager' laptop character. The twist that it was little bastard was horribly underwhelming and it wasn't even given any weight. There was some serious heat and speculation on who the voice behind the Laptop was and the angle was built for months and months, only to to kind of be abandoned all together. Was quite a missed opportunity.
Even though I was only a kid when I watched WCW I loved Raven and his promos
Don't forget Raven was Johnny Polo. They could have used it to say that he came from this priveliged background but his mum caused him so much deep rooted psychological damage that he snapped causing him to abandon his roots and side with the underclass as Raven.
I'm gonna compare some of Damien Sandow's gimmicks to Yoshimitsu, Bartz, &...you guessed it! Tiki from the Dark709 series!

I loved the "rich raven" storyline! My favorite bit was when he and kanyon went to the mall and kanyon called Versace "Ver-sase" then they did the makeover montage.

I’m going to say it now, but Invasion era Austin was actually a great character! Check out the Attitude Era Podcast. They’re currently looking at the Invasion and Austin comes across really well!

Sorry but Austin singing, hugging and generally being delusional was epic. It may not have helped ratings but it damn sure revitalised his character and made for really fun and compelling TV. I'd take 2001 Austin over him going back to old shtick afterwards.

For Kane it could be said that Paul Bearer let Kane have a girlfriend only to cause the car crash that killed her, have Kane further emotionally scared by it and show him he can't have anyone else in his life except "Dear old dad".
I feel like I'm the only one who absolutely loved crazy heel Austin. It was so ridiculous they could have easily played it off like he got hit on the head and changed personalities.
