Spasibo! You are great teacher. I like way you look me in eye as you explain, this make me feel I am with you in same room while you explain! You also have videos/lessons topics that is not easy to find and explained by someone who knows his subject.
I understand notation, engraving etc, by I really have to catch up with playback side of Dorico. I started to use NotePerformer some years ago just because I could not understand how to make VSTs (samples) to sound real! Thankfully NotePerformer deals with 95% of all playback techniques, balancing of instruments, pans etc. but I really want to learn more about MIDI, Expr Maps, CC, tempo, dynamics and velocity lanes ect. 😊👍
I did comment this bit elsewhere on your channel, but everything you explain (incl humanization) can be heard in this Star Wars video I made with Dorico 5 & NotePerformer. There are still instrument balancing to fix but listen to how NP deals with playing techniques. I did not have to do much mixing work at all. But I am getting better using the magic of NP! Any other mixing advice from you regarding this Star Wars piece will be extremely valuable because I want to squeeze every bit of glory from NP!

Thanks, man! I appreciate your feedback. I don't use NP, but I know it is a great tool. For my work, I typically need to do mockups that I can update with specific tweaks and that is impossible with NP because it does a lot of (great) stuff behind the scenes. I think there's a consensus that the very best MIDI mockups are a product of live playing (recorded ideally or even played into a DAW with CC faders). I'd recommend exploring that approach to anyone looking to get the very best rendering of their music (or Star Wars). That said, NP is a great tool for getting excellent and consistent results more quickly.
