      Many foundations combine red, yellow, black, and/or white pigment. Olive requires blue pigment, because blue + yellow = green. Companies that don’t include blue pigment will look off on olive undertones. I have a similar issue (blue undertones) so I bought blue pigment to add to my foundation for a perfect fit. There are also green pigments for sale. -Someone who has tested well for color discrimination.

    I also find that I don't *feel* my best when wearing clothing that is not suggested for my type. If I wear a fitted and tailored blouse, I spend all day tugging at it and wishing I hadn't worn it.

      It’s funny isn’t it! My independent spirit doesn’t want to be dictated to but in reality I find there’s no point fighting what looks best on me. I won’t wear something if it’s not comfortable and if I don’t feel good. Price doesn’t matter. Also, I find I instinctively knew quite a bit of this information before but I wasn’t as disciplined and maybe even fussy as I now am. Now, I prioritise wanting to feel good in my own skin. I want to feel someitem of clothing sparks joy to quote Marie Kondo. I’m so thankful for Aly’s channel. Her insight and wisdom has been and continues to be so valuable for me.

      Same! I have always disliked the idea of the crisp tailored shirt as a basic that "every woman needs". Some of us just look "off" in the crisp tailored ones, but other versions look much better. As an SD, I love some of the square necked puff sleeve versions that are popular now (e.g. the Pandora blouse from Wilfred/Aritzia)

    • @Cekatu
      @Cekatu Před 2 lety

      @@AlyArt What about a situation where half of your body fits your image ID but half doesn't?
      Example. I am soft dramatic. Overall the suggested elongated sd lines work for me. The recommendations for sd skirts, pants and dresses work perfectly. However sd tops/blouses and jackets look and feel too loose, sloppy, unkempt and unpolished.
      The sd top recommendations that work, are drapped necklines; one shoulder tops and voluminous sleeves, but only when most of the sleeve is fitted along the arm...
      Softly drapped but fitted tops are best on me. Anything excessive or oversized looks too much. Extravagant or big hairstyles are overwhelming.
      I find soft classic tops, jewelry and hair work better for me. Also, I think that I have a soft classic essence but soft dramatic body. Is that even possible.
      Aly, how would you suggest that I handle this body image disparity? Is it just my mind telling me the tops don't look or feel right?

      @@Cekatu I’m kind of the same 🙂 I seem like a SD around my shoulders and bust (my mom and sister are SD) but I’m definitely a TR over the rest of my body and face (like my dad’s family). My whole family has either Classic eyes or cheeks or both 😂😂 it definitely makes a difference when trying out clothes or makeup styles. A video on this would be really great.

    For 5:36 Soft natural: When talking about materials, I find viscose would be a great fit, because it flows, it's not stiff. I bought blouses like this intuitively. Thanks Ally, this was super helpful! Because you showed how to do it, a lot of examples, what's important and an image of what to avoid. Great video to show, that soft naturals don't have to look undone or sloppy. They can look chic, relaxed and feminine!

    I’ve searched for Pinterest boards with information like this, that also have LINKED the clothing suggestions. I find this would be SUPER helpful for me personally. Especially if there was maybe a price range targeted in separate boards like “$100 and under jackets that follow the gamine lines” etc. I can never find anything linked and I am having such a hard time seeing lines, being able to click and get something that I know is certain lines would help me try out different types. I can not seem to type myself and I don’t push to hard because I have a history of an ED, healed, but careful to not go to far into things. That being said, I thoroughly enjoy fashion and adorning myself in all the things. So I want to type myself!! But like I said I have a hard time and don’t allow myself to stare for hours trying to figure it out. I also think this could make someone money with the boards being able to click and buy something and the person earns a commission. I’m sure you’ve thought of this and have your reasons you don’t do this. But do you know anyone who does??

    I am a little biased. I think the 80s fashion for both men and women but especially for women was once of the best decades in fashion hands down! It was probably the most freeing of fashion styles because there was no once set of style when it came to that decade. You literally could where what you wanted and most people didn't think twice because you didn't fit a specially style. ALL styles were accepted then. Even today that can't be said with how judgemental people are about everything. Hell I even think women's 80s big hair should make a comeback.
    The biggest difference bewteen style today and style in the 80s is that the 80s style meant that items were still coordinated. Today people throw shit together that does not match. Or the lines on outfits aren't straight. Today's fashion looks more inspired by homeless.

    I love training my eye with these videos! Well done. I think it’s important for us to keep in mind, it’s the lines of the clothes to focus on in this video. The clothes are worn by models, so the body types shown are not very diverse. But the lines of the pieces illustrate exactly what Kibbe is saying. Same with your Pinterest boards, am I correct, Aly? It’s the pieces, not the bodies to focus on?

    I dont know if you've already made a video on this, but can you do a list of stores / items there that would be good for the types? I am still trying to settle on a type but since I'm short I'm thinking soft gamine.. I am just so bad at knowing what individual items are good let alone finding them.. then comes the daunting task of putting an outfit together. I would love some internet website that sells clothes to collaborate with someone like Aly and categorise their stock. I used to buy from a certain website and they introduced the fruit system to help pick clothes. What I found out was that I, a Romantic, have a boyish figure and need more curves and volume on hips and bust. How would that happen? They took under consideration 3 measurements: bust, waist, hips. If you're fat your belly makes up the difference, which doesn't mean you don't have curves. Height wasn't even questioned. Now I think I am able to decide better for myself thanks to Aly's videos, but than it was very confusing.

      @@BlackPinkizeYou can't be 150 and seem 170. Secondly, long vertical lines in short person is an intended illusion. Everyone can seem taller on high heels and while being thin. But imagine how Sarah Jessica Parker would look like is she was overweight? Would you still consider her much taller than she is? She actually has quite big head compared to the rest of the body. Finally, as far as I know Kibbe didn't confirm she is FN.

    Hey Aly, as a SG with very round cheeks, is ok if I don't contour my cheeks at all ? Just a little on my jawline but not the cheeks ?

    • @katelynkeenen5218
      @katelynkeenen5218 Před 2 lety +3

      I have very round cheeks and have stopped contouring them these past few months. For my face shape I've found embracing the natural roundness and applying blush looks much better than trying to shade and chisel out something that isn't actually there. Not contouring and only applying blush makes my face go from appearing "fat" to looking very youthful with more of a sweet/kind/cute appearance. Not sure what your face/cheeks look like but if you like how they look without contouring then go for it❤️
