    Water in the main rails is a great idea, its not only a storage source but an alarm system to let you know if there are any cracking issues
    Porshe used to do this on their tubular frame race cars but used gas (nitrogen) instead, if the pressure dropped it indicated a crack and they could find/repair it before the frame failed.

    Hey Mate, we towed a camper up the cape this year and would very much recommend you get a stone stomper for your setup. We also put a full width mud flap at the front of the camper and smaller sections in front of the suspension to push the rocks down. The areas that weren't protected got some chips and damage. Will keep the trailer and boat nice after all of this work.

    Just finished, loving the series Timmy, you are going to have a hell of a set up.
    I know this was filmed a long time ago, but I hope you have considered your tow vehicle and matching the wheels in stud pattern and offset and tyre size to your tow vehicle-which is going to have to be a large tow capacity 4x4. With matched wheels/tyres between trailer and car you have way more spares and options to get out if things go badly. You can also cycle your old car tyres when they are getting a bit worn out onto your trailer-there is very little point running fresh knobby mud tyres on a trailer, and it means you can keep fresher tyres where needed on the tow vehicle and get the last bit of life of your old tyres on the trailer.
    I’m guessing this boat and trailer are all completed right now and this is a catch up series which will probably launch you into your new boat life. Looking forward to it.🤙

    Going in the salt water I would highly recommend to have your steel components hot dipped galvanized. Even high quality paint systems just don't hold up in the salt water. Might not be a bad idea to use a thin piece of HDPP (plastic) between the steel and the aluminum to isolate them from reacting together.

    • @chats5957
      @chats5957 Před rokem +1

      They did mention that the steel was going to be treated. It'd be a safe bet that that means hot dip gal.

    • @douglasthompson2740
      @douglasthompson2740 Před rokem

      @@chats5957 doubt it, more likely they are referring to the useless super thin plating which gives it that yellow look. Same as the coatings used on fasteners. Plated with electrolysis not at all compatible to a true hot dip process. Not sure it can be effectively dipped once that electroplated has been applied.

    • @chats5957
      @chats5957 Před rokem

      @@douglasthompson2740 We'll have to wait and see then. If it's not galvanised, it'll be something better I reckon.
      I think you're referring to zinc plating when you talk about that yellow look. That's not what cruisemaster uses on those components. The coating they use is a Supa-Alloy 5 (SA5) plating system. The process is particularly suitable where hot dip galvanising may distort, damage or clog up machined features. This process protects weld rings, seal surfaces, wiring tubes and mounts which cannot be satisfactorily accomplished with galvanising.

    • @mungbean84
      @mungbean84 Před rokem

      @@douglasthompson2740 I don't think anyone involved with boat trailers would ever bother electroplating steel. It's either gal or go home.
      I do agree with adding some hdpe isolated though. Electrolysis will kill stuff quick smart once the salt gets on it.
