    Todd and Esoteric crew, thank you for this video! I've recently been contemplating which machine I will be purchasing next. This video couldn't have come at a better time for me to help in the buying process. I love the body of the LHR75E Mini over the full-size RUPES machines. I am confident in saying that the Duetto will be my next machine. This is another great video my friends! Thank you again.

      Thank you and agreed! For most detailers and DIYers, a good one-step is all that is needed most of the time. And I focus on the word "good". Many people think they have to do a multi-step simply because they aren't using the right combination of tools, pads, polishes, and techniques to realize just how effective they can be.

    Just came across this video, even though it’s a few years old. I have just come around to the world of paint care vs just washing the car in the last six months, and many of the quality videos put out by Esoteric have shown me the folly of my ways lol. But the tremendous amount of knowledge I’ve gained from them has been INVALUABLE, and I thank Todd and the Esoteric team for that. I have gained the confidence to attempt my first paint correction in process for my first ceramic coating attempt, and this package seems perfectly suited to my needs as a diy guy who’d only have 1-2 polishes every couple years on my personal vehicles. I am curious, though, as to what sort of time commitment and pad count I’d be looking at to polish a 3/4 ton truck and Tahoe suv. The Tahoe has been hand washed weekly, so just a jeweling should suffice for it, but the truck has severe tunnel wash marring and swirls(from the “lack of knowledge” time), so I’m thinking a good compounding and polish is a must for it. Just looking for some insight to tailor my shopping to. Thanks again for all you do!

    • @Esotericdetail
      @Esotericdetail  Před 2 lety +1

      Glad that the channel is beneficial for you. First of all, let me get you past the term "jeweling", because it isn't a thing. For your one-step, you could expect about 6 hours of polishing, and probably 6-8 pads. For the multi-stage, plan on 12-15 hours, and at least twice as many pads. I hope this helps.

    Todd, thanks for the great video. I have been considering this model for quite some time now, but have held off on the purchase. I am in need of the correct machine for both boat finishes (Gel Cote polishing and minor correction and waxing/finishing), along with auto finish minor correction and waxing/finishing. I have actually contacted Rupes directly in regard to marine uses, but could not get answers to my questions about the high RPM of this machine in relation to their newer 15 models that are a bit lower; for the application of waxes etc. Please review if this is appropriate for both, and what I should be using for pads, one step solutions or other, and wax/coatings for the gel Cote. I'm looking for a quality machine that gets into smaller areas, that can handle the entire job. Thanks much.

    • @Esotericdetail
      @Esotericdetail  Před 5 lety

      You're welcome. If you're doing large boats, you might be interested in something like the Rupes LHR21 MKII that can utilize the larger 6.5" pads. You can also switch that machine over to the smaller 5.5" pads/backing plate when doing paint correction on cars. But if you're not working on huge surface areas, then the Duetto would be great. Speed differentials from one machine to the next are a non-issue as you simply adjust it to the best speed for the job. For instance, you would probably operate in the 4.5 speed range for polishing, and just 2-3 for wax or sealant application. The video should tell you what you may want for polishing (Perfect Finish and Yellow Pads), then you'd probably go for the white pads for wax or sealant application. I hope this helps!

    • @Esotericdetail
      @Esotericdetail  Před 2 lety +1

      Then it would be a 2-step, not a 1-step. If you're using a good polish for your 1-step, you should have no reason to follow it with anything else. Just because a polish might be listed as "finer" than what you use for your 1-step, it doesn't mean that it's going to create a better finish.

    • @Esotericdetail
      @Esotericdetail  Před 5 lety +2

      Thanks, Joe. After a one-step you would add protection of your choice...wax, sealant, or coating. As with any machine polishing, you would wash and decontaminate through mechanical and / or chemical methods.

      Start with the basics, depending on budget you can either enter into the high end like these products, or lower end and get 90% of the results with a little more effort. I highly recommend visiting a forum or reddit r/autodetailing for information.

    • @Esotericdetail
      @Esotericdetail  Před 5 lety +2

      I'd be really hesitant about sending a new person to a forum of all places. It's nearly impossible to weed through the information, as much of it is coming from those who don't really know themselves. I'd also argue the 90% rule there. You can have the right tools, pads, and techniques, but throw a "so-so" polish in there, and you can easily see a 30%+ reduction in results. Now mix in a hodge-podge of tools, pads, products, and techniques, and the difference becomes even greater.

      @Esotericdetail  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes you can, however I'd definitely recommend spending some time on our channel learning about paint polishing and coating application. Please let us know if we can answer any questions for you.

    The ergonomics of the Duetto are great. However, the machine lacks torque on curves. Stalls very easy. On a side not, Optimum Hyper Polish finishes just as good or better than Perfect Finish. Also, no dust with hyper polish.

    • @Esotericdetail
      @Esotericdetail  Před 5 lety +1

      "Machine stalling" is a technique issue, and not a machine issue. This holds the same with the bigger Bigfoot machines. Can I assume that your comment on the performance of the other polish is strictly limited to the eye test? Also, it doesn't nearly have the cut range of Perfect Finish. Only a DOI machine can evaluate and determine the cut / finish range of polishes or pads.

I was also curious on what you thought of Rupes compound polish line compared to the polishes you showed in your video? It seams that Rupes DA machines are most preferred by professionals for paint correction but, everyone uses different compound brands and swears by them. I thought I would be able to stick with one brand for detailing products but, I guess each company shines in certain areas of what they produce. I appreciate any feedback you may have or even a new video on a kit that comes with everything you need to start a detailing business with the best professional products on the market. Rupes is the king of the hill when it comes to machines. When it comes to chemicals or polishes, there's no one brand that is the perfect solution. What makes us different is that we can use what we want, and we're not stuck with just one brand. We select what performs the best through testing. So when we recommend the combinations, it's based off of what we have determined to provide the best results. If we are not talking about "product x", then you know it didn't make the cut. The kits that we offer are designed with both the professional detailer and the DIY person in mind. It's all about the test section to determine what will work best, and we have a video on that. Agreed that you have too many products as it just adds to confusion and inconsistencies. Unless it has deep scratches (which you won't get out with foam pads), you should be able to do just one pad/polish combo, then one sealant. There's simply NO need to apply 2 different sealants. I'd recommend starting with some testing of a pad with the Sonax 04-06 to see if you get satisfactory results and go from there.

    Todd, is Perfect Finish and Yellow pads enough to get medium-heavy swirls out? I’m not after perfection but my white truck that was a bit neglected by previous owner could use a good refresh and I don’t want to spend weeks on it.

      Yes, it is more than capable. But it also comes down to how hard the paint it, and how good your technique is. This combo is cable of a high level of correction and finish. But if they are heavier scratches, you may not have a huge impact on them.

      ESOTERIC - Fine Auto Finishing No scratches. Just swirls and halos from body shop repair on a few panels.

    Would the micro finish polish and white pad be the least aggressive one step correction ???
