Back in the mid-1990s, my older brother would play this. I was about 7 at the time. In the mid-2000s, I found his old cassette at home (he had since moved out). I liked the song, but it was a low-quality recording and I could not enjoy it as much. Since it’s instrumental there were no lyrics to identify it through online searches. I asked him what it was called but all he could remember was that it was Erasure. I thought I would never locate the song. My 15-year search came to an end today, when I asked Siri to listen to that old recording and she correctly identified it-Tragic by Erasure! Here I am, enjoying it now more than ever. The title fits the mood it evokes.
Kind of reads like Vangelis's masterpiece, "Chariots of Fire" for that title soundtrack. It also had beach scenes. Vince Clarke's sound was more refined, doubtless because of his purist sensibilities when it came to analogue synthesis. Very inspired fan-made video! A true gift and honor to Erasure!
One of those amazing B-side tracks that needed to shine on its own, but since it was on the back of 'Always', it would have got the play time it nearly deserved :)
Check out "chi mai" by Ennio Morricone pretty similar Vince must've took inspiration from ennio I know erasure covered one from "the good the bad and the ugly".

In fact I consider this is the Erasure's "Poem without words"...in spite of the great differences between both pieces.
