I added a DVR to these goggles.... watch my other video here - czcams.com/video/eN-ECjKdto4/video.html
Since this was made, the padding has changed to a cloth-covered foam, so that's much better.
Thanks for the review and explanation of how the operate. There was zero user information in the instruction documentation so your video was very helpful.
Exellent review. The tear down is awesome and the best part of your reviews, so please keep those tear downs coming!
Lots of possible mods on these goggles like your DVR mod.
-Make it lighter by removing LiPo and using a cable/ adding a plug to a remote location on the head strap at the back so weight is not way out in the front (cantilever weight always feels heavier!)
-Add different frequency Rx. You'd need to clean up solder blobs on internal Rx module Video out and Power in points and bridge with a toggle switch to a plug so you can use an external 1.2G or 2.4G Rx if you need those frequencies.
Thanks! Great suggestions on the additional mods. I don't have any 1.2G or 2.5G receivers unfortunately. Have you seen the new version they are coming out with? Diversity receivers, DVR, and adjustable lens! goo.gl/Ut7NR2
Thanks for the heads up on those new goggles. They seem to be the "killer" setup. Wish they added a simple "video IN" plug. $70 is a bargain for all they're offering in those new googles. Will you be reviewing them?
Yeah, they keep forgetting to add AV in/out options! LOL.
I'm not sure if I will be reviewing them. I hope so! It seems they might be a while in getting them out however. No date on arrival :(
Great review! I just ordered the Eachine VR D2 goggles, today they are 69.99 on promotion from Banggood. They are on backorder but hopefully worth the wait, they are 8inch Diversity with a DVR.
When you shoot your DVR mod, I hope you will also demonstrate a mod to allow simply plugging in a video source cable and bypassing the receiver. Should be an easy mod, but not so much for a newbie like me.
I love when people take new equipment apart, prevents me from doing it ;-)
Very impressed by your review.
I appreciate that!
i lost the plastic straps which are on the inner side of the googles- can i find it form anywhere
Great review, Well done!
Great review! Would be nice to compare this one with the Quanum Cyclops Goggles sold by Hobbyking? I like the concept of Cheap FPV. :-)
Great video, just a question, the battery is a lipo or a li ion?
can i use it on 5.8 ghz transmitter of my onepaa x2000 camera?
Can you direct wire these to a camera instead of using an antenna?
can these be used for racing?
will it work with the furibee FO3 AIO camera?
the updated version has av in, so i think i can add a diversity receiver?
will that increase latency?
Just wanted to say that the OSD battery indicator seems to be working properly on my EV800's. Holds full bars for a while. Maybe you got a dud?
Can i use this for fpv racing im beginner
Now this is called real unboxing!
Looked @ your channel after seeing your review on setup of the fpv cam (very good)... then ran across this vid (watched all the way). i'm currently using the uber expensive FatShark Doms you show. you did a great job on the review - i think the detachable screen is (and i hate to use this word) awesome along with the tripod mount.
i've found that i've had an awful time trying to get the FS Doms to get focused for me - so i'm wondering, although the DomHD have a better resolution and they have the 2 eye-screens, how would you compare the Video experience (the Eachine having the single screen) between the two?
looking forward to your DVR mod, too!
thanks again, and i'm looking forward to watching other vids you have.
Russ from Coral Springs, Fl, usa
I too had difficulty with focusing on the Fatsharks but adjusted eventually. The trick is to let your eyes relax. It took me a while to figure it out. The nice thing about the Eachine goggles is that nothing like this is required. You just put them on and watch the video. I've heard that if you use these for an extended period of time your eyes will get tired but I find this to be the case with the Fatsharks and not the Eachine :) It really boils down to personal preference. Some people will just hate these and some will love them. You just have to try them to see for yourself.
I think that for the price, it's worth finding out. The ability to pop it onto a tripod is an option i will definitely use - both out in the field and (as you mentioned), at the bench when working with camera tunings and OSD modules.
thanks for your quick reply!
Russ
Great Videos...I am looking for goggles, what is the real world comparison against Fat Shark or others. Can you notice anything from the FPV experience (picture).
I already made a video on this czcams.com/video/8rj1T8SCGiw/video.html
How about the range test on these ev800? How far they go? Is it enough for serious race?
+TUYULs9 on 200mW I was able to go about 1km
Hey Albert, Nice Video. What is your glass prescription?
-6.0
@@AlbertKimTV You didn't need any glasses to focus on the display while using the EV800?
These seem to be missing the face padding. It is quite comfortable.
hi sir .which camera can i use with the ev800 google to get at least a video qualite as like 360p(like watching youtube with 360p)
but in ev800 goggle
Get this camera, it's good - bit.ly/2Ci8pJl
+1 Albert, Eachine EV800 (5.8Ghz 14dbi Ultra-light RX Panel Antenna on the goggles) with Boscam 200mw TS351 (BG Clover Leaf Antenna VTX) proven and tested on my DJI Phantom 2 v2 .. video reception is crystal clear - ## Radius: 1500 meters / Altitude: 1200 meters ## changing antenna will do the trick for long range FPV .. Happy flying and safe landings!
hey Albert, I'm ordering a set of fpv goggles this month. I'm new to the hobby and really respect your opinion. that being said, in your opinion, what is the best budget goggles for 100-150? I was leaning towards the kylin goggles. any info would be most appreciated
I really like my EV800's and they work well. I would consider the updated ones with diversity (VR D2 - goo.gl/Ut7NR2). I don't know anything about the Kylin goggles so can't offer an opinion on them.
Albert Kim I was looking at those. I couple of reviewers said they had a lot of light leakage and that they would need mods to block light. that being said the built in dvr is an attractive feature. yeah I think I will try those.
can you fit your prescription glasses inside the goggles ?
+Ike Hancoski maybe. It would need to be a small frame however.
Thanks for the video, I recently purchased these goggles and am wonding if there is a way to set the video to NTSC or is this auto detected?
I think it's auto detected. I've sent both signals to this and the image shows for both PAL and NTSC
ok, I am having a problem where my video is scrambled so I thought maybe it was a video type mismatch issue.
Wow, anybody saw this? *Get the Eachine EV800 now with 50% DISCOUNT from Banggood:* www.banggood.com/Eachine-EV800-5-Inches-800x480-FPV-Goggles-5_8G-40CH-Raceband-Auto-Searching-Build-In-Battery-p-1053357.html?p=TL0111854575201411Z0
I wonder if these would work with some better diversity reciever since 5802D monitor dvr is a bummer...
Also, how's the reception and range? Most videos (except sebydocky) show pretty much close flights with barely any obstacles in the way. I'm wondering how those perform in stock on a tracks with a lot of things in between. Have you maybe done any flying in more complex environments?
+CoconutFPV I have flown these in close range with a lot of trees with no more break up than my FatShark. I have not tried long range. I do not believe these would be appropriate for long range use. I would use a monitor instead.
Well, maybe not really long range. I was referring to "long range" as considered to micro platforms, say between 100-300 meters. I should made that more clear in the beginning, appologies :)
+CoconutFPV Ah.... I think 300 meters is probably doable. I'll try and test this.
Hi Albert, hows the fpv experience between this and your fatshark?
Hmmm, good question. The fatsharks are more compact and more convenient to carry around. The screen on the EV800's is pretty nice and I can focus easily on it but people with vision issues may need help with the focus. Both are comfortable to wear and when I'm flying I don't notice them. The EV800's can't sit on top of my head (when I'm NOT flying) like the fatsharks can which is annoying but this is true of all the "screen in box" goggles. Honestly, I use both and like them both. They just have little differences here and there as explained above.
Albert honest opinion do you prefer the fatshark dominator or the echine ?
Visually, they're about the same. I use the Fatsharks more because they're smaller and easier to transport around. If that's not important to you or not worth the extra cost the Eachine is perfectly adequate. I also use the Fatsharks more to use an upgraded diversity receiver which has better reception than the one in the Eachine. All together I've invested over $500 in the Fatsharks versus under $100 for the Eachine. If money is no object, get the Fatsharks with all the bells and whistles.
if I use a 16: 9 room, are these glasses good?
16:9 camera? The image will appear a little squished on the horizontal axis and it depends on the lens on the camera as to the extent of the distortion.
just want to know if you can modify it to add FR632 to become diversity, not sure how much the range for the D2 version but i really trust my fr632 for better range.
NO, the receiver is built into the PCB. I would not know how to do that mod.
i think you have the old model, for the new model i saw that they already upgraded having the AV in, i think i can use this for my FR632 if i wish to use it for long range fpv.
Hello Albert Kim,
Nice review - thanks a lot!
I bought these a few month back and I seem to have issues with battery life. It's draining quite fast!
Can You please share the dimensions of the battery, so I can order another one before taking the goggles apart?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Rgds Kim
I didn't measure it when I took it apart sorry. Take a look at my mod video and you can see the battery in there and can probably make a good guess on the size and what you can use. You have some leeway in the battery size in that space - czcams.com/video/eN-ECjKdto4/video.html
Yup - it looks like there's plenty of space, so best estimate should be alright.
Thanks a lot for Your rpely.
QUESTION
Do these show the battery voltage left on the drone on the screen?
No, only if your drone has an OSD then it will show up in the video feed of course.
Albert Kim do you know of the eachine x220s has that? If not, how can I add it! Is it possible?
@@keenanlanser9409 I know this comment is a year old but in my video in my betaflight config I set the battery monitoring and everything up, hope it helps!
hi please can you tell me if it is possible to fit proscription goggles in these goggles
I was NOT able to use prescription glasses with these goggles. It gets quite skinny down on the end where it meets your face.
Mark Pearce can you use them without glasses? I can't see far away
WICKED good gamer since the screen is close, it's more of a reading glasses problem. If you don't need reading glasses, you will probably be OK.
Very stylish
Will these work on a mjx bugs 2w? And a bepop 2?
no. those are wifi fpv. different.
Albert Kim ah yes that’s right, what about the MJX Bugs 6
How do you know when the battery is fully charged?
red light will turn off
@@AlbertKimTV 감사합니다!
i have the same cutting mat
Walmart $15! 😲
did you get yours from banggood? I got mine from Amazon and mine came with fitted foam padding. I'm annoyed they gave people the goggles without foam. did you get the padding yet?
+Ian Rice yes, I got the padding
Awesome I know they were not comfortable without the padding.
I got mine with foam padding aswell.
Good man I kept seeing people not get the foam.
Gut ! Ausführlich erklärt
Can you change the aspect ratio of the goggles to 4:3?
i think it is fixed.
Hi, can we choose aspect ratio between 4:3 and 16:9 please ? A comment must have been deleted so i don't really understand your answer.
What's the max range video signal reception of EV800?
With a 600mW transmitter probably 5 or 6 miles depending on the antennas you use.
can we use cloverleaf antenna on the goggle
+selçuk dogan yes
Is it better than Eachine VR006 ? Please answer my comment i am requesting you
The EV800 is not made anymore, get the EV800D. The EV800D is better than the VR006 but also costs more too.
@@AlbertKimTVEachine EV800 is in stock in Aliexpress. So which will be better decision?
If it's between the EV800 and the VR006, get the VR006.
@@AlbertKimTV thanks for your help 😇
Is the caddx eos1 better than runcam nano regarding image quality?
does it have built in dvr??
This one doesn't but it's discontinued anyway and not for sale. The replacement EB800D does have a DVR and you can buy it here - bit.ly/2HNUxvP
Are they good for fpv "racing"?
Yes, should be fine for racing. I use these as well as my FatSharks. It just depends on how you like the feel of it on your face. It will boil down to personal preference.
I realize that - i did not hear wear you made the real world comparison
just want to know if 13.5cm wil clear??. my prescription glasses is 13,5 cm
+neal4254 are you asking if the width is 13.5cm?
jes please can you just put a finiar caliper to check the width?just want to see if my glasses would fit
The width of the opening is only 11.75cm.
thank you so much for your trouble really appreciate it
You're welcome!
Thank you for making these videos........ok one question. I have my first DJI Phantom 3A. What goggles are comfortable PLUG AND PLAY.....ready to go?
Hmmm, don't know anything about the Phantom 3A. I'm assuming you can watch the video feed over 5.8ghz? If so, these EV800's are pretty comfortable once you put on the foam padding. I believe the ones on sale now come with the foam padding. I believe the updated version is here - goo.gl/Ut7NR2
how to record video on quadcopter racing?
+Ariqkamil Nugroho right now you can't
I added a DVR to these goggles! czcams.com/video/eN-ECjKdto4/video.html
+Albert Kim (marblekit) cool
Lol that internal battery is great....
+Phil659 I think they wanted to keep it lightweight up there as it will put more pressure on your face.
no video in?
+Razor E no av in or out but I may mod this to tap into the av out of the receiver.
+Albert Kim (marblekit) damn
Albert Kim ya hopefully not off that ribbon cable lol
+Razor E no, directly from the receiver
thats a DVR comparison - not how you see it from in use flight
sorry if I am asking the wrong question
+Bryan Campbell gotcha. This is very subjective. To me the experience is similar. But you may find it very different
little bit different from what i got, weird
