  • Just three months after graduating from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Ensigns Emma Cox and Dana Rohde were learning to maneuver the 225-foot buoy tender Juniper on Long Island Sound.

That brought back great memories of my too short time in 1958/59 on the old "OAK" (1921 - Steam triple expansion top speed 8 knots) working the Jersey Shore, Long Island Sounds and the Hudson River. THANK YOU....an Old Coastie.

Good to see another Blackhaw alum. I was a snipe from '80 to '84. Great times. "Work Hard Party Hard".

QM on BALSAM, CONIFER both 180's, and WHITE SUMAC 133. There seems to be a large number of people on the bridge.

Who operates the crane? And who’s tending the buoys on the deck? Which rates? Are they all BMs or are BMs only in the piloting of the boat. Just curious how it all works, going to join soon.

Are all the 180' s gone now? I was on board the Bittersweet (WLB-389) at the time the Blackthorn went down.

Jan that is really cool. 👍🏻Those who shoot and edit are never given enough recognition. People watch and simply don't think about the person who not only was there but lugging around equipment and operating it all while still watching for themselves.
