    just wanted to say this helped me cook Christmas dinner for the first time for my family last year and it went down a treat! Watching this video again since I have requests to cook it again today, thank you for your straightforward recipes as well as the idea to mash the potatoes cooked in the pot roast- made some of the nicest tasting mash ever!

    I take the inter pot from the slow cooker onto my stove and sear the meat that way and just put the inter pot back into the slow cooker, just avoids extra cleaning.

    • @brite1978
      @brite1978 Před 3 lety

      I thoroughly recommend getting one, some are as cheap as £20. Ive made roast beef in the oven and its not a patch on a slow cooker. If i was to guess, id google the temp of a slow cooker at low setting and just cook it in the oven for 8 hrs at that temp, in a similar way with a deep roasting tin with the stock and wine etc. But im just guessing, its what id do.

    I hate to say this but when you use as much liquid as you are doing, it cannot really be called a roast beef. You are technically boiling the meat rather than roasting it. The taste between the two is noticeable. A properly cooked oven roast is far better tasting than using a slow cooker packed with liquids. You leave it till near enough the end to put the green beans in, when really you can do the same with the beef stock, if you do it this way, you get more of a oven cooked roast beef than you would boiling liquid from the start. However, if everyone cooked the same way, then the kitchen would be a very dull and boring World, it is always good to experiment and find out different ways to cook food.

      There is also a price difference. You wouldn't use a pot roast cut in the oven it would be tough.
