    Let me know what you think. Really unfortunate but oh well. it seems the main census around this reveal on one side is that it looks good. But again, like I mentioned, a lot of games look good, so does Fortnite, haha, and by that argument, Dragon Age has become just that, your average fortnite-inspired action rpg coming to PC and Consoles this fall. I also noticed that it has a lot more cutscenes with minimal dialogue options.

      So this pretty much hit me the exact same way that it hit you. I saw this trailer and immediately compared it in my head off against Dragon Age Origins, though this is coming from someone who has played upto Dragon Age Inquisition, I struggle to play that game or push seriously into it and just didn't enjoy a second of Dragon Age 2 whatsoever.
      The vibe I get from this trailer is pretty much playing off like another super hero movie of the age, some Marvel movie or another terrible thing relating to Suicide Squad. Something thats just been Joss Whedon'd to absolute death. I was utterly disappointed by the trailer and lost what little hope I had in the franchise right here, because while I couldn't get invested in Inquisition it wasn't all bad.
      But this trailer just... it tells me at least what the suits want to pump out and it feels terrible and definitely isn't marketing to someone like me who prefers Origins.

      @@HalfLord Now that you mentioned, I did remember seeing a gameplay of a suicide squad game in recent time and yes, they all share similar vibe. They aren't necessarily bad looking, though that's up to you, it just doesn't fit the dragon age IP.

      @@TheVillaousTerminater I think its mostly that the style being done is over saturated and they're all more or less copying each other. Its fine when it stands out but when everyone is trying to prove how "quirky" their characters are and throwing jokes and not taking moments of their own story seriously. The tone itself becomes ironic all the time and Dragon Age Origins, while it was sometimes funny. Took the tone of the story very seriously, it was particularly painted in a dark light. So from two angles, its overdone and purely done for marketing, copying what has worked for the MCU and secondly doesn't fit Dragon Age in the slightest.

    As a fan of all three Dragon Age games, this is how I see it.
    Origins was great. It had a gritty story and didn't pull any punches. As for the gameplay, Bioware was still refining the DnD-based combat they had become famous for. It was clunky, but the tactical element was satisfying enough to get by.
    If I had to describe Dragon Age II with one word, it would be "undercooked." While the story and location were on a smaller scale, it still retained some of the more brutal elements from Origins. The combat was more action oriented, which, while not terrible, wasn't necessarily a positive change. The worst aspect were the consistently re-used environments. Entire areas would be the _exact same map, just entered and exited from different angles.
    Inquisition, I actually enjoyed quite a bit. While much of the dark, unforgiving imagery of Origins had been polished away, it still offered a compelling take on the world. There were vast (sometimes too vast) areas to explore, and the story was more centered around _the world itself._ It fleshed out things like the Black City, the origin of Darkspawn, and the Elven pantheon. Its combat had a good blend of action and strategy. Dragon battles were great.
    This... This Veilguard trailer looks like Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Age. Fortnite; DA edition. An action-oriented reboot of Disney's "The Haunted Mansion." My hopes are not high.

      @TheVillaousTerminater  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yeah, what you're saying is what I often hear from most who've played da2 and inquisitions. I actually looked up Tiny Tina's Assault and it does look like a sharpened (style) version of veilguard.

      Everything about Dragon Age 2 is awful, except the writing. DA2 has some of the best dialogue in the entire franchise, the characters are enjoyable, and its story was short (due to the game being forced to be rushed) but imo still quite enjoyable, it retained the gritty and dark atmosphere DAO had; shame that the game suffered in all other areas because of the not-so-ideal development situation.

    The trailer is bad. But to be fair absolutely none of the cinematics for any of the games looked like the actual game. The gameplay proves it ATLEAST looks so much better than what was shown there. However, idk how the story will turn out.

    • @TheVillaousTerminater
      @TheVillaousTerminater  Před 2 měsíci

      Of course, cinematics aren't really supposed to represent the actual game itself entirely but it's important to convey the accurate tone and origins trailer is pretty standard, not bad or necessarily impressive, but it does its job. Also the bar set by the trailer was so low, anything would of made the game look better at that point.

    Dragon Age Origin is by far the best of the series in terms of story, characters, gameplay... pretty much everything other than graphics.

    • @TheVillaousTerminater
      @TheVillaousTerminater  Před 2 měsíci

      The graphics did the job of conveying the dark tone in every possible ways I can think of and that's really all I ask when it comes the visuals. Also for a game that came in 2009, I say it looks pretty good, not too far from its competitors.

    Dragon Age 2 is great, the combat is an upgrade to what Origins was. Some things are not so great, like the reusable assets, but it's a great game. Inquisition has the "mass effect problem". I hate the controls. but if you like Mass effect, you'll like DA:I

    I disagree. I think the gameplay is what set origins apart. Yea the world building and the design was phenomenal but it was the complex mechanics with the behaviours it was what set the spark in that dark gritty theme.

    I disagree. I LOVED Origins, its what got me hooked. But i dont see how the artistic style of tgis will make it any less playable than Inquisition. Graphics have progressed, its been 15 years. Technology has made massive advances in that time, i respectfully suggest we just roll with it and accept the fact that Origins is now nostalgia!

      I'm with op. Most of the complaints I see about dai are things you can easily choose to steer around, not critical game flaws. (once the first ship bugs were fixed). The depth to dai is pretty solid. SOME zones were also appropriately rendered darker. It made the world feel BIGGER and epic. Appropriate for an epic worldwide plot imo.

    i don't get it.
    The first one was a solid and good rpg that made people hopeful for the future of crpgs.
    The second was an atrocious piece of junk that pushed the original playerbase away.
    Further than that, i don't know, i remember seeing something like jump or dodge buttons for the third one and never checked it again.
    So still talking about it must mean that most people, are actually stupid creatures of habit. Unable to move from something in a market that can offer you something better for less money. If someone is clinging to games like these, bethesda/ubi/ea/ca/bio/obsi ect ect, then there has to be something really wrong with this person, and i pity them. I pity all of you.
