    I have a really hard time getting my head around these guys not having rangefinders. What about the spotter? Surely this basic tech is standard issue to military snipers?! When he says he missed his first shot at 150yds, or less, it beggars belief really. I guess this is down to the heat and fury of the battle.

    • @CthonicSoulChicken
      @CthonicSoulChicken Před 3 dny +2

      Yeah. The truth is that most guys don't ever get a chance to kill many people, if at all. The vast majority of killing is by air strikes and the vast majority of shooting is suppressive fire at an area target or possible enemy positions. He got to shoot more than a few people, but it really doesn't make him a remarkable sniper. He was in the right place at the right time and he was marketable, which is why he is now a "somebody." There's a video of him zeroing a rifle with some other famous guntuber and its pretty embarrassing. Please understand--I'm not saying I'm better, I'm just saying that circumstances can make a guy out to be more than he is.

It wasn't until I started going downrange that I realized it was all nonsense. But that's how these things go. Lots of credible guys have been sold a line of crap and continue to do so. Nerves man... first time... target may have been moving in an unpredictable way as well... walking perhaps and with equipment so not a steady pace. We dont' know, cause we weren't there. Zero could have been off as well. Could have had a can on the SR25 that affected the zero as well. If it was through the side of the body... and not straight on... that's a fairly slim target while moving at 300 plus yards. .308 isn't super accurate either. probably 1MOA at best with military ammo. So you've got 3" of variability with that alone.
