    Most bluing requires that you rinse with water after to stop the product from rusting

      The browning or bluing reacts to the nickel content in the steel depending on which product you using... I normally give whatever project I'm doing a rub down the following day with fine wire wool then a buff and it turns out ok but different products require a bit tweek8ng in how you deal with it

    Looks more like black to me than blue.

      Bluing is the term used to describe the process but the colour is black

    • @duffmanmark
      @duffmanmark  Před 2 lety +1

      I have noticed very fine rust appearing if not suitably oiled after a final rub with 0000 grade wire wool

    • @duffmanmark
      @duffmanmark  Před rokem

      You can as long as you do it before you apply the oil also the following day there may be dust like rust residue that you just buff off

    is it pitch black in the end or dark blue?

    • @duffmanmark
      @duffmanmark  Před 4 lety +5

      It is black

      You will never get a dark blue finish with cold bluing, because of the same chemical[selenium] used in the formulas. It always create this blackish color.
