Being a cardiothoracic surgeon is indeed a life long dream of mine that I can't wait to achieve. I am currently waiting for my acceptance into medical school. I am pressing towards that mark of the high calling in Christ Jesus.
Did you make it?
After reading Jodi Picoult's book 'Harvesting the Heart' I became fascinated with this field and what it entails.
I will become a cardiothoracic surgeon
I am a medical student I am planning to be cardiothoracic surgeon in future . How can I prepare my self to until the graduation from medical school .
I am from Sudan

Can we go directly into CT surgery residency or we have to do general surgery first?
Nice God bless
after high school we have to do 4 yr clg for CT Surgery or also for other residencies ??
I desperatly want to be like you one day
Becuse it,s my dream to become a cardiothoracic sergeon😍
Wow I interviewed here with his department a month ago. but I didn't get to meet Dr. Chigo
Good stuff!
Is cardiac surgery a dying field? I read some articles about this topic.
It said Because of interventional radiology and invasive cardiology , cardiac surgery is a dying field and it’s future is not bright. What do you think about this?
Currently i am a second year medical student ,can you tell me what i should do in med school to raise my chances to be accepted in a training program without going through general surgery giving the fact that i am from sudan
I noticed the i-6 program has an academic enrichment year (usually the 3rd) is this common to all i-6 programs?
So _______smart. Black men leading the way!
Hello Dr Webb, pls do a video on foreign trained MD’s who did their residency in the U.S.

U do look like a lot of Nigerian males Dr Webb ✌🏾✌🏾
I'm 17, and a first year med school student at the KNUST, Kumasi, Ghana. What is the path from getting an MB. CHB. degree to becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon?
17?wow, how did you get into med school at that age? I want to study med
@@jessiesc282
In Ghana, one has to endure 9 years of basic education, coupled with three years of secondary education before entering medical school. And I started the whole process at age four
Bro he looks like the black cardio surgeon from Grey's anatomy.
I’m really confused between CT surgery or orthopaedic spine surgery, they’re both completely different things but I just don’t know what to pick haha.
Yeah, i wouldnt worry too much about picking right now. Most people dont decide until 3/4th year of med school so you have plenty of time. I didnt decide until beginning of 4th year of medical school
Antonio J. Webb, M.D. Thank you.
𝑀𝑦 𝑑𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑚 𝐶𝐴𝑅𝐷𝐼𝑂𝑇𝐻𝑂𝑅𝐴𝐶𝐼𝐶 𝑆𝑈𝑅𝐺𝐸𝑂𝑁.♥️
wait a minute so working as cardiothoracic surgeon I don't have any time for anything beside work!!!!! i will work 18 hours a day :''(
This was my dream as a child, but the lifestyle and rigor of residency turned me off a bit.
it should not matter man if you love doing it
CT surgery is my dream and I will accomplish it.
He looks really young
Is calculus required for becoming a cardiologist
st
Good thoughts with RUPAM AGRAWAL yes calculus 1 at least in my university
Are there MD from engineering background? I'd been interested in health science course before i went for college but my parents had asked me to do mechanical engineering. After 1st yr of engineering schools, i know i hv to move to medicine. I graduated from mechanical school last yr (because i hv to so as not to payback the sponsorship body). But now i'm still in dilemma if i'm good enough do medicine.
So i'm heading to imperial to do masters in biomedical engineering for next academic yr. I can still feel, my passion for medicine, is still burning deep down. But i just hv no idea if i'm good enough. Any advice doctor?
I would truly appreciate it. Tq!!
peter_parkerBN go for it bro . I was in the same dilemma as you and i realized we only live once and I choose to go for it and chase my dream to become a MD
Peter, why doubting yourself? The greatest regret in life is not what you did but what you didn't. You are obviously very smart, have the passion and based on your strong science background, you are half way through. Chase your dream NOW!
I am not sure you have finished your masters at Imperial wish is of the premier Universities, once done, just apply to med schools either in UK or move to US, although that will cost a fortune. Anyway just go and win! Good luck brother!
Is it true that this speciality is not smart to choose because most of cases Cardiologists are taking from CT surgeons. Also technology is developing very fast which means in future even multiple coronary artery diseases will be treated by stents and not by open heart surgery...
I am 14 years old (8th grade going into 9th) and my dream is to become a heart surgeon. In order to proceed on my path in the medical field, I am going to drop out after 10th grade and go straight to college. This will allow me to get a 2 year headstart on my schooling. Plus since you are aloud to pass highschool with a GED all I have to do is pass that test. One of my greatest advantages is since I will be only 16 when I start my college classes, I wont have to worry about finding a house/apartment to live in while taking these classes. (Therefore allowing me to focus on paying off my college tuition instead of paying living costs of a house/apartment.) This will all in all give me a headstart on my career and save me money. Let me know what your thoughts are in the replys😁
@Jakob Lenker I meant graduate early with a GED. Not drop out
Tough question: what is your favorite food?
I'm brittish and I want to be a cardiothoracic surgeon in America
I am 30 years old right now, will my age limit me to join medical school?
No! There is a family man without science background who became an MD at 47. You are still breathing, nothing is impossible for a willing mind. Please, get going so by the time you are 40, you might be sitting here like these 2 featured MDs.
CHASE YOUR DREAMS!
Is there an Association for Black Surgeons?
Racist !
someone says cardiothoracic surgery is dying field. is that true?
I havent heard this
Far from the truth .. this is everlasting field
Not at all
What do you mean by dying. ???
Let me tell you something . Just in Africa there is about 3million people in next Twenty years will need a heart surgery because rheumatic fever .
not at all. Cardiac surgeons have been employing Minimally invasive surgery. so it continues to be very relevant.
Wow inshallah I become a cardiothoracic surgeon 🤞🏻
Awesome! You CAN do it! Its a long road but worth it in the end! Keep up the good work and let me know if you have any questions along the way!

How many exact years does it take to be board certified cardiothoracic surgeon??
Balla Jallow 4 years of undergrad, 4 years of med school, 5 years of general surgery residency, and 2 years of fellowship.
after you graduate medical school, the number of years of residency/fellowship can range anywhere from 6 at the lowest to 10+ to become a full CT surgeon. It varies a lot depending on the track you chose and which particular fellowship you want to do, if any.
10 for me
not including college/medical school, then its 18 yrs total ( half of my lifetime)
@@babyyoda8195 half ur lifetime... not bad for the amount you'll be making
Great video, great doctors. Idgaf about anybodies ”race” as some commenters do, Were all human. PS: CT here i coome!
Andreas Magnusson The reason why other Blacks acknowledge other Blacks in medicine because that’s not common to see that in America especially to see Black male doctors; I personally love to see black men in white coats
Why do you think he keeps uploading videos with black doctors?
Wow HOCM.. what a killer ...
me after watching Grey's Anatomy:
🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬
Can you interview a black male psychiatrist?
Is there some sort of nigerian mafia in these high end competitive specialties? almost every black guy we see is a nigerian, what is up??
Lmao dude. It's simple arithmetic. Nigeria has about 200 million people. Theres alot of nigerian doctors that go all over the world for medical school and residency programs
Cardiothoraric surgeons have basically no life😱 well doctors in general, that’s why I’m thinking on going to PA school
eduardo santos not true. If you want a life you make the time
Key Brown work 14 hours go home study for 2-3 hours, shower, sleep. Wow so much free time.
I mean there is 24 hours in a day 🤷🏽♀️ which leaves you about 6-8 hours free time.
eduardo santos you said doctors in general now which isnt true. Theres many that have lives just depends on specialty
Key Brown well yeah not every doctor
