  • A combination of not being packed well enough and rough handling by Parcelforce resulted me in opening a rather damaged Hoover Turboboost. If you have a spare hood or skills at invisible mending, comment below.

    Roger, you seemed intrigued at the prospect of this being as late as 1991, but it is absolutely one of later versions of this style of cleaner, as defined by the height control knob, which is the third (and last) style that Hoover used. The first was square and flat; the second was also square and flat, but it also had noticeable ridges running down the left & right hand sides. Yours has the third type, which is square but with a bevelled top and rounded edges. Also, it has the extra-long green edge-cleaning bristles, and the very late font & icons on the bag door around the air freshener, though I appreciate you mentioned that in your video.
    It cannot go without mention that in the "Back To The Floor" TV reality show episode where they went to the Hoover factory in Cambuslang, it was noted that Hoover had a lot of stock of old parts. As such, it is not beyond possibility that production of your cleaner here was stopped and later restarted, if it was that Hoover had parts in stock that needed to be used. After all, most parts of the cleaner would have been generic and produced for the entire range - it was only external parts that were colour specific and had different lettering. This said, the seemingly endless variations of Turbopower cleaners never ceases to amaze me, particularly when later models could have the on/off switch in one of three different positions, depending on the features of the cleaner and where provision was needed to screw the autoflex in place. Hoover must have spent a fortune on making the moulds to form at least four different versions of the main body to accommodate these changes.

    A little bit of schadenfreude, I ordered a Electrolux upright from UK (Blackpool!) and it was shipped through Parcelforce all the way here to USA. I knew from your videos that they could arrive with broken wheels or handles. I crossed my fingers that it would arrive good and it got here 100% untouched and with no damage at all. The seller was not a collector either, he had just bought a flat and the vacuum was forgotten in an upstairs closet and he figured he would sell it. Very friendly chap and he did pack it well, he never shipped a vacuum before or anything to another country. I don't think I'd be that lucky again lol (I'd love to get a Henry or one of his family members eventually)

    I could fix the hood. Have you ever tried using fibrous tape underneath and letting it get solid then maybe piecing it together? I’ve done that before, it saved my Hoover Elite.

    i have got a junior1335 and its missing a suppressor when do i find part number or parts from?

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  Před 9 měsíci

      It doesn’t need a suppressor. Most people who repair or collect vacuum cleaners remove them from vintage machines as they tend to fail, sometimes with a loud bang.

    Did the shipping company break it?

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I was intact when it was posted and arrived broken when I unboxed it, so I assume the damage happened in transit. If the seller had put in better internal packaging it may have survived.

    I collect vacuums as well, mainly Fantom, but I've had quite a few blunders with the mail carriers as well. FedEx is by far the worst carrier to conduct business with.
