    What about the cost of heating and watering ? The maintenance against bugs and diseases like medicine and Insecticide?

    • @earthnailsandtails
      @earthnailsandtails  Před rokem +3

      Great things to consider but they are not required for everyone. For example I don’t use any heat, insecticides or herbicides therefor there is no cost. Depending on where you live water can play a large part or none at all.

      @@earthnailsandtails how do you get rid of bugs then ? I don’t want to use any pesticides like insecticide or herbicide? What’s an alternative?

      @@lovelivenic4606If you are still wondering some people try to encourage beneficial insects to move into the garden. Typically, they will start to move in after the first year, after they discover where the pests live so they can feed on them. Some beneficial insects can also be purchased.
      Companian planting is also often used. Some companion plants will repel some pests, while other companion plants are preferred by pest, so they can be used to pull attention away from your vegetables. Netting can also help protect crops from some pests.
      If you want specifics, then you will need to look up the pests and beneficial insects in your area. You should also look up companion plants for whatever you are planting. It really depends on your particular issues.

    Planning on having my first raised bed this spring. I’ve been researching ways to fill it. Is topsoil considered organic or do you have to specifically buy it labeled that way? Or does mixing with compost turn it into an organic soil? Thanks

      I couldn’t guarantee but if you find topsoil from a mulch distributor you can ask theme where it is sourced from. I think it should be great! Topsoil it self is indeed organic
