The $1,000,000,000 North Korean Bank Heist
Bangladesh, February 7th, 2016. The director of the Bangladesh Central Bank got off the elevator on the ninth floor, and headed to the back office of the Accounts and Budgeting Department. This was the most restricted part of the building. He was there to deal with a problem, one that had been plaguing the office the last few days.
You see, the printer wasn’t working, and this was kind of a big deal. It was causing a real disruption.
The automated printer, which was hooked up to the bank’s software, was supposed to work round the clock, 24/7, printing out the bank’s transaction reports in real-time. Due to this technical glitch however, the printer tray remained empty.
Much of the day was spent trying to fix the issue; and, after a great deal of effort, there was success. They were able to restart the printer. And so the backlog of transaction reports started rolling out, one by one.
Now, it soon became apparent that something wasn’t quite right. There were more statements than expected...

Bank: I have millions of dollars.

also seems ridiculous in this day and age, that these banks are dealing with millions upon millions of dollars but do not have rotating staff working weekends. Meanwhile, McDonalds is open 24hrs.
Same as what I was thinking... Are Two printers that expensive? But the I realised, it's not the printers that are expensive rather it's the cartridge, It is expensive for banks even

Dont be surprised if that was done on purpose hahaha
Seriously though, how do these hackers know how to hack a bank's cybersecurity yet can't spell an English word correctly with all the tools available on the internet?
Its beyond me mate.
Pretty sure they knew most of the transaction wouldn't go through. Most likely they calculated how much and how many would have been lost in order to get a certain sum of money. That particular one was probably a fake-trail. Even the point of making NK the culprit is very clever. If you want to frame someone for a massive heist like this, frame the only state in the world which no one wants to deal with - ND no one can confirm is the real culprit..
i like your point, you're probs right
Banks: "We handle trillions of dollars in transactions every year".
Also Banks: "We can't hire a few employees to monitor crucial banking systems because of a holiday or the weekend".
For real though! And especially during an ONGOING massive bank-heist that could potentially destroy their economy
@man with square mustache but then all the snowflakes will come out and say 'its holiday' and that they're 'overworking their employees' and all that crap. They'll somehow get the media against the government
