Fun fact: the kids were played by two of the actors’ real children, which I think must have added to that last scene.

Something I always find amusing is the correlation between Grog and Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy. The funny bit is that Grog was an idea before Drax! GoTG was released in theaters a year earlier than the first stream of Critical Role, sure, but before that first episode, the game had already been going on for two years as a home game!

But Drax was a character in comic books for even longer.

@@filthycasual8187but Drax in the movie is nothing like the comic book version.

Vex is a ranger and one of her abilities is to sense the presence of dragons. She focused on them since one killed her and Vax's mom.

@MikeyVenture I don't know if anyone answered your question in the comment section of your original video, but I don't see an answer here so I thought I'd leave you one. You asked about the Kickstarter. So here's the story. Critical Role shopped their pitch for an Animated Series around to different distributors/studios. They all either said "no" or demanded that Critical Role make their show "Mainstream" if they wanted their funding and help. Matt Mercer's answer, as he said on a panel, was "Hell No! This isn't Mainstream! This is Critical Role!" So with no other option, they turned to the people that got them this far, their fans, The Critters. They put up a Kickstarter. It was a Kickstarter with a goal of about $750,000. They just wanted enough to do an Animated Special which would be what we now know as Episode 1 and 2 of LoVM. By the end of the first hour of the Kickstarter, they had raised a million dollars. By the end of the first day, that number jumped to about 3 million dollars. By the end of the entire Kickstarter duration, they had raised just over 11 million dollars. This money increased the project from just an Animated Special to a 10 Episode Animated Series. Then they shopped their, now funded, show around to distributors again, still needing a place to host the show. Amazon, who owns Twitch where they stream their Campaign and, thus, knows better than any other company how marketable and bankable Critical Role is, responded with, "We'll do you one better. Well fund two more episodes of Season 1 to bring it to 12 episodes and then well fund another 12 episodes for Season 2. Oh and you get to keep full creative control." Do keep in mind that other Amazon Original Series have 8 Episode Seasons. Critical Role approached them with a 10 Episode Season. They increased that to 12 and fully funded a second 12 Episode Season. Hopefully they'll see how popular and successful Season 1 has been and will offer them a deal for the entirety of Campaign 1. Or, at least, more than just Season 2 because there's no way the next Story Arc would fit within one season. It would be a travesty to even try.

Commenting both to add to your algorithm stuff and for anyone who happens upon this re-upload and so misses how I am sure several people answered your question about if this was in the campaign: The first 2 episodes are from before the campaign started streaming on the old Geek & Sundry channel, but are indeed still at least heavily based on what they did in play as a home D&D game, the remaining episodes are a very close adaption to actual gameplay for a single arc of campaign one. IIRC the arc was about 20 episodes that were roughly4-5 hours long each, so of course it's not an exact duplication of the gameplay, but they kept a lot of the best moments and lines and stuck pretty close to what happened.

So a word of warning if you try to watch the campaign. The first one (which is this group) has 121 episodes about 4 hours each. It's lengthy.

I haven't watched any television since 2005, but I got a one-month trial of Amazon TV just to binge 2 seasons of LoVM. It's the best thing I've seen in a long time.

I've watched all of the campaign and currently watching campaign 3. The members are Grog whos class is Barbarian and voiced by Travis Willingham, Scanlan Shorthold is a Bard class and voiced by Sam Riegel, Vex'ahlia is a Ranger class and voiced by Laura Bailey, Vax'ildan is a Rouge class and voiced by Liam O'Brain, Pike Trickfoot is a Claric class and voiced by Ashley Johnson, Keyleth is a Druid class and voiced by Marisha Ray, Percy is a Gunslinger class that was made when they were using the Pathfinder RPG before going to DnD and Percy is voiced my Taliesin Jaffe. Matthew Mercer voices a lot of NPC in the show.

You are one of my fav reactors, I’ve watched most of your animated show reactions, but I never knew you reacted to Vox Machina, I’m so glad you did tho! I found the show about 3 weeks ago and binged everything there was. While waiting for season 3 I started watching Critical Role’s Campaign 1. I’ve just gotten to the Briarwood arc. Super looking forward to binging your reaction to this show.

As Critical Role tells you at the start of each episode of their campaign " We are a bunch of nerdy voice actors playing D%D". Just to let you know David Tennent ( Dr Who) is the voice of the general.
