If you’re planning a trip French Polynesia then a visit to the island of Mo’orea has to be on your bucket list! Here’s my guide on the best things to do in Moorea:
🏄‍♀️ ACTIVITIES
Mo’orea is the best island in French Polynesia for activities! For thrill-seekers, there’s jet skiing, zip lining, kayaking and I highly recommend booking an ATV tour with @alberttours_atv_ssv_jetski6 to experience the jaw-dropping Belvedere Lookout. Don’t miss a visit to the Lagoonarium, where you can swim with rays and sharks. There are also plenty of hiking trails, waterfalls and hidden coves to discover.
🛌 WHERE TO STAY
If you want to stay in an overwater bungalow in French Polynesia, you can easily spend multiple thousands of pounds ££££ per night however Manava Beach Resort provides a more affordable option of £645/night. Manava is conveniently located only 10 minutes from the airport & 15 minutes from the ferry port. On site you’ll find an on-site restaurant & bar, a few beaches, a large swimming pool and a range of rooms available (overwater, beachfront and garden bungalows with private pools).
🍽️ RESTAURANTS
For a taste of local cuisine, head to Rudy’s, known for its fresh seafood and warm hospitality. For a romantic evening, dine at Moorea Beach Café, Le Cook's or Te Honu Iti. Don’t forget to try a traditional Tahitian dish, such as Poisson Cru, a refreshing raw fish salad marinated in coconut milk and lime - head to Snack Mahana to try this!
⛴️ HOW TO GET THERE
Getting to Mo’orea is relatively easy. Most travellers will fly into Tahiti’s Faa’a International Airport. From there, you can take a quick 10-minute flight to Mo’orea or opt for a scenic 30-minute ferry ride. Once you arrive, you can rent a car or scooter to explore the island at your own pace or there will be taxis waiting for you at the ferry port.
📆 WHEN TO VISIT
May - October are the best months to visit French Polynesia. During these months, you’ll enjoy warm, sunny weather with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 30°C (75°F to 86°F) and low humidity.
