    You were supposed to slide the two GFI screws into the slots on the cover, then secure the cover with 4 screws. Two on top, two on bottom.

    I dont understand why you didnt throw away the old box and then place the plastic on and have that recessed into the wall.??? It doesnt make it water tight i dont think…because the box is supposed to be recessed into the wall

      you need housing for the outlet. the plastic is just cover to protect from water etc. as you see outlet face sits on back of the plastic box.

    Waterproof??? I'm going to say no. Not until you caulk around that box.
