For anyone unfamiliar with the basic lore of Orion, he's the avatar of _Kurnous, Elven God of the Hunt._ He's also master of the Wild Hunt (in this world), and one of the bigger reasons he doesn't just continuously murder everyone _outside_ of Athel Loren and the other magic forests is because he sometimes listens to Ariel, avatar of Isha, Elven Goddess of Mercy and Healing.

In all seriousness once you understand the concept of “stay out of melee” and “shoot the cavalry first” you can pretty much destroy any army that can’t outrun your archers with impunity. At least until you run out of ammo. However you do have the option of running away and starting another battle with more ammo.
Alternatively if you want lower micro Treekin are some of the best Anvil units (low damage high durability) units in the game while treemen are some of the best non-character unit dualists in the game. Add on the fantastic cavalry and the only thing the welfs don’t have is artillery.

Hitting a deer with a car is dangerous, getting hit by a deer ridden by an elf is terrifying. Imagine moose cavalry charging you and that’s about 8 times more terrifying

@@salmontickler Damn straight, but now I just want to see either some sort of Snow Elf or Kislevite moose cav. Bears are cool and all, but moose cav would be the scariest shit ever. Imagine the moose being trained to lock antlers as they charge…. That’s like a phalanx charging you without the riders! Make the riders bowman and that’s a match made it the coldest, deepest and most horrific level of hell. The place that cav will send their poor victims
Fun fact the Russians tried to make a moose cavalry, it didn't work out because the moose would get scared of the gun noises, and were prone to disease.

Which didn't work out to well, the beavers were quite picky with what they put in their mouths. They also were more eager to build dams instead of bridge sabotage, also metal was becoming more popular for building bridges. So we decided to scrap that project, and train Polar Bears to guard our homes, with hockey puck launchers for distant targets. Stale Timbits were not cutting it, trespassers would wear thick coats that were absorbing the impact of the Timbits.
So, a note on how the Elves burned down their own city: The game actually just automatically destroys that settlement after a bit as the Wood Elves so you can colonize it without having to declare war on Alarielle who I believe is also easier to be diplomatic with.

Yeah, if I'm not wrong, the game spawns a chaos rogue army to attack and raze the settlement. After that, sometimes I see the chaos army die by Alarielles hand (but she doesn't recolonise the settlement) and other times, they remain dormant outside even if you colonise the ruins
Happened in my wood elves also
I played a campaign with the sisters of twilight and I never got that forest cause I didn't go to war with the neverqueen and she never left the settlement

As a player thats played more hours in Durthu campaigns than many people have hours in this game this both hurt my soul and made me chuckle
Any tips for early to mid game Druthu campaign? He’s on my next playlist after Arkhan the black
@@renhardhalim Dont be afraid to tresspass in Athel loren, theres going to be some quests that appear for you and the 2 that spawn close to the Minors are battles you can fight 3 times if done manually to confed the minor it spawns near, also look towards treekin and Treemen as your end game armies, i stay away from dragons and elf infantry as, if you dont have a lord that directly buffs them they arnt worth much (except Bladesingers they are decent everywhere). As far as Durthu goes he can be built as both a fighter or a mage but i prefer the fighter while keeping a life mage in the army, hius beast magic is nice but his sword of Daith is a much better spell than flock of doom. As for tactics: if your wanting some range avoid using treeman and treekin as a front line(they get hit by freindly fire more than youd think). If your going Melee stack go in blobs with the mage on eagle AWAY from the fight the life magic is still VERY good(cough cough dwellers below and both heals). Other than that just try to have fun your not gonna win EVERY fight as durthu hes gonna die ALOT for a monster lord but youll get used to it starting out till hes full kit full tree( pun intended)

Orion is my favorite campaign and you’re absolutely correct about one thing. Welf friendly fire is HORRENDOUS. Nothing like botching your micro for half a second and watching a friendly unit vanish from five units of way watchers deciding “acceptable losses” Treemen having literal giant hit boxes (recycled code) are even worse at getting obliterated as they take more hits. Truely the most skaven non-skaven faction.

You should play as Drycha because she got aggressive trees
the best elf faction: the one that hates elves more than anyone
Drycha is definitely in my Top 5 campaigns
If there's one dryad that can wipe out humanity AND elfkind (she'd explode if she knew that Malekith is why the Asrai exist in the first place), it's Drycha and the Wargrove of Woe, complete with malevolent dryad, malevolent treekin and treemen, and feral animal doomstacks.

I'm so glad you took my (and several others') advice to try this one out. It's certainly an experience. When I did it, I broke the game entirely.
I had millions of gold, and the game tried to start the Wood Elf Endgame crisis... but I had confederated all the wood elves previously. So nothing happened when the counter hit zero.
Naturally, with my millions of gold and many free armies, I chose to BECOME the Endgame Crisis for every other faction. RIP world.

31:07 Quick tip: there’s hot keys to cycle through your armies and cities. Click whatever you want to cycle through and spam the Comma and Period keys.
You earn bonus points if you can watch the camera zoom across the entire map fifteen times in half a second without throwing up.
also, if you go to the province tab, you can see each of your cities that can have buildings built that turn. also, you can enable auto-skill point assignment for each character
