- Sir Cliff Richard has backed students in Jill Dando News across the world who are keeping the name and legacy of his good friend Jill Dando alive.

He is also delighted their positive stories are putting a smile on the faces of people everywhere they are read.
He was speaking on the 24th anniversary of Jill’s death, with a video message at her former school Worle Community School Academy in Somerset, England.
Jill Dando News was set up out of the school in 2017 and is spreading worldwide.
He said: “If ever we need good news it is today. Jill was a great friend of mine and a sad loss to the world really but you can keep her name alive.
“If you can get there, be the journalist that faces facts and keeps all of us with a smile on our face because you write stories that are good to read.”

Jill Dando was indeed a lovely lady. Her death certainly changed things at the BBC. I was one of their transport drivers when she was murdered. I, along with many other contracted drivers in charge of moving BBC workers etc from the various studios to their homes etc were then in charge of making sure each worker got to their homes etc by basically becoming their minders. Certainly a strange time, and very worrying for everyone. Her horrific passing is one of those times that will never be forgotten, and of course, Jill Dando will certainly live on in many of our hearts too. May she Rest in Peace
