If you would have told Willie Dixon in the 1950’s that in 1988 he’d be performing in front of a young all white crowd he would have thought that you were crazy.
Man, who cares who the other musicians are, Willie Dixon was, the, most prolific blues songwriter of all, the only reason that his name is known so well is because he made others long, long before he decided to step into the limelight himself. He wrote over 600 songs in all, he made...Leadbelly, Muddy Waters, lightnin' Hopkins, Howlin' Wolf and so many long lost to history...Lonnie Johnson (without who, lead guitar would only be power chords), Rolling Stones, Clapton, really, man Charley made the blues (14 albums), but, Willie Dixon is the backbone...and kept it popular, so long it became a culture, and not a fashion!!!
You got to love it when a bunch of white guys get together and try and play the.blues . One doesn't know what the other one is going to do next and nobody bothers to look up and give a cue. And poor Willie has to sing over this mess . But Willie handled it as usual. 😮
