  • Started in London in 1979 as a brush-up course for rusty churchgoers, the Alpha Course has become a worldwide phenomenon and is now held in 163 countries. It is estimated that more than 13 million people worldwide have attended an Alpha Course.
The Alpha Course comprises 15 sessions held over 10 weeks and is free and open to everyone. No question is out of bounds, and participants are free to say as much or as little as they wish as they make up their own minds about the teachings of Jesus. Spirited discussions often ensue on topics ranging from Who is God? and Why am I here? to Why is there suffering? and Is God a delusion?

Yes they fear it will cost them their freedom. Little do they realise by rejecting Christ they forfeit the total freedom that is on offer. The bible is beyond their understanding because it's written for those who seek the truth, which I'm afraid they are not seeking truth, but controversy. "Ask and it will be given you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you. Matt 7

@mirrodin68 Actually in another video where he is at Tomoka Prison, he tells the inmates about his faith. He tells about a prayer in which he desperately asks God to be his friend again, having that same faith and relationship with Him he used to have when being a child.
Yes, he does quote the bible, but there's nothing wrong with that. In fact I think that's great. Especially the quoting of 'I can do everything with Christ'. And that's exactly the point. Watch the Tomoka Prison video.

On the one hand I am not sure that many of the things they teach in the SAS are compatible with the New Testament .Jesus was not an expert in close combat and explosives. One the other hand the Manichean vision of the world and the dialectic between 'good' and 'evil' that informs military strategies in our era is a reflection of moral and often religious self-righteosuness. I do have great respect for his courage though

  • @mattluxford7979

I don't think anyone can really criticise a man who admits to an inner life of relationship with a God personality, even if that God's existence cannot be proven. It's benign, in that he has an inner strength based on this belief, and he attributes it to a God that he prays to and uses the bible to inspire him. As he said, its personal. That's the whole point here. It's personal, as personal as the person who says that they reject belief in a God as part of their inner life. If the man isn't ramming it down people's throats like some rabid preacher then I don't see what harm he's doing. By all means mock the man for his belief if you feel the need to. Or be mature and accept that it isn't doing him any harm. If he comes to a point in his life where his belief ends then that will be his choice. People living and dying on the mountain doesn't invalidate his belief. He said he felt gratitude for coming away from the mountain with his life. He wasn't saying that because of his faith that God saved him and let the others die. He was expressing gratitude for life.

Just stick to the new testament. The teachings are timeless so time+space mean nothing. The purpose of the Bible is to kill off the ego, the carnal mind, the Adamic mind. That ego blocks an experience w/ God and true inner morals. Until Ego dies (born again) you will be stuck operating from an animalistic sense of pleasing lower passions which are empty and unsatiable. You just have to dig out the truth and have direct Spiritual experiences of God. That is the Only way!!!

this god in the bible is flawed in ways a true deity could not possibly be i appreciate your experience must have been strong and life changeing but i urge you to look more closely at that which you think is god and re evaluate before you are trapped into a self destructive and very limiting way of thinking, i am not saying god does not exist, just that he is much more than the bible or christian church understand or choose to teach, if you want more clarification i welcome questions.

you are living in denial of reality. did i say that people don't die? It's the second death that you need to avoid and that is the eternal lake of fire. There is only one way to escape eternal judgment and that is to repent, come back to God, and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Try it.

Nature killed the climber, just like people kill each other all the time. I hope you look for the truth with all your heart and diligently look into the bible and Jesus. Because if it's true then most of the world is screwed and responsible to God, and need a savior from sin. If you seek God with all your heart you will find him. God's love doesn't undermine His justice, His love was expressed in Jesus' death on the cross for sinners.

The teachings are timeless. If I was to say 2 + 2 = 4, that would be timeless. It was true then, true now, and true in a trillion years. U dont understand, the mind is the ego, the mind is carnal, the mind itself needs to be controlled. It is like a spoiled child. The NT leads you to experience Divine realities and transcendence. Without those you are operating from the limited mind. Enlightenment exists and is the highest state. Everything else is mindless flim flam!

2 Kings 8:12 -- (The people of Samaria) ...will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open.
The scriptures are filled with far too many examples of like this all commanded by this "moral" god.
Also for god's kill count check out... watch?v=IABptlAhyJw
It's all there in scripture in full glory for you to read. Rationalize it or ignore it if you wish. I shall do neither.

Just a personal opinion here... not meant to offend anyone...but...I think religion should not be organized nor do i think that anyone should try to teach religion to another. People need to stop living their lives preparing for a afterlife that no one has proof of and start making heaven right here in front of you. Stop looking up for answers and start looking inside for them. ps. I did take this alpha coarse and relized it was nothing but attempting to shove jesus down my throat. waste of time

i don't pass judgment on you. God says in the bible that you are condemned because of sin. Jesus paid your penalty on the cross because that is the only way for you to be saved. You must repent of your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior or spend eternity in Hell acdcording to God. I'm only the messenger. If you don't agree with His giving you a chance through Jesus, take it to Him, not me.

you have it the wrong way round i was like you untill i had a moment of clarity and realised god was much bigger than the christian teachings they only serve to control you and keep you in fear, if god is divine then how can he subject his creations to hell? how can he give free will with one hand and punish choices with the other? if god loves you then what more do you need? however each to their own if it works for you it does not matter either way. mine's not the right way, just another way.

sorry but that doesn't really answer any of the above questions, plus your definition of trust seems more like relinquishing your identity of self than reliance on the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing, i know what faith is i'm just asking you on what is it founded,

the bible is God's eternal word. It contains His moral standards. the lie of satan was that you can set yours own standards and you don[t need God. Yes, God sees and knows what happens everywhere and He createdand sustains everything. But He dwells in Heaven and those who reject Him are separated from His joy, peace, love, presence, guidance, etc. You do not have the true God in you unless you repent of your own ways and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

how can a historical fact be a fairy tale?
any credible historian wouldn't claim what
happened to jesus to be a fariy tale?
people claiming the devil telling people isn't cowardly act
a person sweating blood is a sign of stress
    medical fact
    all these things happened fact
just because you've been offended in some way by either christians or religion
it seems you beieved and now don't
    and the scars run deep

you would have a point if it were that there was only one denomination of chritianity as it is there are 38000 different church's all singing different songs from the same book saying opposing things so which one is right and why are the other 37999 making up their own religion. jesus did not say i must believe in him john did aparently which is hearsay not fact

....yet the bottom line evangelical Christianity teaches is that unless you accept Christ as Lord you will suffer in Hell for eternity. Best keep that quiet eh?
