- The Conservatives are “not even pretending to govern any more” and have reached a “new low” with the King’s Speech, Sir Keir Starmer has said.
The Labour leader said that Rishi Sunak had shown he was not a “serious prime minister” and singled out Suella Braverman, the home secretary, for criticism after she suggested rough sleeping was a “lifestyle choice”.
Starmer said: “What we have before us is a plan for more of the same. More sticking plasters, more divisions, more ‘party first, country second’ gimmicks. Today we reach something of a new low because they are not even pretending to govern anymore. They have given up on any sense of service. They see our country’s problems as something to be exploited, not solved.”

He was that bad that he was commended in Parliament by Cameron for the wonderful job he did of reorganising the dept to cut out waste and repetition and was knighted for his effort. Even the right wing newspaper the Sun did a piece on him praising his achievements. That's how bad he was.

And Braverman claims to be a Buddhist. To be one of those you have to demonstrate Buddha nature. So far as I can see, she has never done that. It’s like she actually enjoys being judgemental and unpleasant. I could easily have used more forthright language to express that last sentence but most will be able to reword it appropriately.

I've been hearing the same tired old political presentations for nearly 7 decades. If you’re younger, I can tell you, they don’t care about you. None of them. None of the political parties If they did they wouldn’t be in politics.
Are you starving, are you unwell, do you have money and clothes and feel relatively safe. If so then govts of all colours haven't done too bad a job. I personally feel Labour govts do more and care more but even the tories are better than Putin, and Kim Jong un etc.

The reason they are so far up in the polls is they've moved towards the centre while the Tories go off in populist Thatcherite far right LaLa land.

We don't need more government, look where it got us! The Tories are not the party of the right, not since Thatcher since they advocate for the policies the left and Labour did 10 or 5 years ago. When was the last conservative who said 'Free Markets' as opposed to 'More spending'? Both parties are for government and only Labour is honest about it.
That does not excuse the horror that government brings. We saw it during the 60s in the UK, in the 70s in Sweden, in Eastern Europe during the 80s, and India in the 90s. All of these countries tried the Government and Socialist approach and failed so bad they elected actually right-wing governments who privatised and opened markets.
