Well I have used this bell for a a month now...I find that older folk can't really here it so well so they don't respond as quickly as I would like. Middle aged folk tend to look at each other and around them but only in a forward direction like they can here the ping but can't tell what direction it's coming from. Some folk reach for there phone expecting a text until I get closer then they realise it's a cyclist now applying the brakes to avoid a collision because they still haven't moved out the way. Younger folk appear to hear it from a decent distance and respond to the alert much more swiftly. ..The ping is a hit or a miss overall. It's not really as loud as a traditional bell, maybe the frequency is a problem for folk 40 year upwards. When I had the trading bell I would.say folk of all ages are much more receptive to the bell and instinctively know what's behind them. This ping on the other hand mmm. I also learning how to obtain the best ping, you ping to hard it's dies out quickly, swift gentle ping on lever and the ping is more pronounced and lasting I do have trouble get it right to be honest. I know it's just a bell but an expensive one. It's possible there is a design flaw, it's ok if you live in a warm sunny dry climate BUT if you have rain regularly lie we do here in Scotland then it's a problem. When droplets of water sit on the steel ring it's deadens the ping to make it useless in the rain... Oh and when it's windy it's alike the ping gets blown away so it's even harder for most folk to here....So I don't think it's worth the money at all... I do like it's appearance and when you get it pinged right on then it's sounds great to. I Will update later.after. more use.
If you use one leave a comment on how you found the ping.

Used it for a few months on a gravel bike. I can confirm your review: looks great but ping is too soft

This is the one for smaller bars, the one which goes up to 31mm is bigger and makes a beautiful and louder sound, although it is not particularly easy to fit.

I too own the same bell and can confirm it's designed for compactness rather than loudness

COOL LOOKING BELL, BUT IT HAS ITS FLAWS. RAIN DROPLETS DAMPEN THE RING. THE TONE IS NOT AS CLEAR AS IT COULD AND MAY NOT BE RECONISED AS BYCYLE BELL BY OLDER GENERATION WHO ON MY EXPERNICE OF USING THIS BELL CANT HERE IT.. AGE RELATED HEARING I GUESS AS YOUNG FOLK ARE HEARING IT THAN OLDER FOLK.

The box shows a brass bell, but the bell... is brown?

Box show's brass...I never noticed that difference to be honest....I did order rose gold Finnish so happy with that choice ...it's about posh for my bike. Sounds great but does not work in the rain. And it's a hit or a miss who responds to it...older folk can't hear it. Younger folk take there phones out there pocket thinking it's there phone alerting them to a text. ... looking good and quality is also good....but maybe only useful in warm dry conditions...wouldn't by another.one.

This Krog is made in China, the Crane Suzu is made in Japan. The Suzu is louder, and just as high quality ... at least. You choose.

A will look out for the one you mentioned....I have used this Long now for a few months....older folk can't here it...middle aged folk wonder what the noise is and think it's a text on there phone... younger folk here it ok but not all thinking a bike is approaching....I don't really like it now. Doesn't quite alert folk the way that's needed...A major problem is if it's raining and the steel parts has droplets of water on the surface. It's like a damper and the sounds is reduce by like 80/90 percent...I Would.noy buy another one unless I loved in warm climate with no rain... Scotland rains alot.

A think my next bell for a bike will be one of the ones you mentioned...the bell being made in China is Downer really...have to make choice that support company that doesn't use China....
