And dad, you should be wearing hearing protection also 😉. I’m living billboard for wearing hear protection at the races. I have severe hearing loss in the tones which most people talk from 20 yrs of my dad racing.
I went to both 2023 richmond races… theyvwere my first 2 races in person and they were awesome experiences. I sat in the row aligned with the restart zone and the restarts sounded so awesome
It is an implant that has an external and internal component. It’s called a cochlear implant because some deaf people have either malformation in the physical items in our ears that allow us to perceive sound or difficulty having those signals transmitted and understood by the brain. It’s my assumption in Kylee’s case that she has a cochlear implant so basically she has a microphone on the outside of her head that picks up the vibrations (what we perceive as sound because it’s what it is) transmitts the information usually through a transmitter sensor inside her scalp into electrical signals that go directly to her cochlea (the part of the inner ear that transmits the vibrations electrical signals that to the brain) and tell her hearing nerves to tell the brain she is hearing something. Basically it skips the outer/middle ear that may have not formed correctly or work. Since she only has one I assume she likely didn’t qualify for another. The sound she hears may not be as hearing people do normally. It can be different from the actual hearing or the processing centre FOR hearing or the nerves themselves can also have issues. If she can’t hear it does give some advantage to have it. One of the reasons the deaf community is somewhat split on it is it can kill the residual hearing one does have…that and most people don’t bother trying to continue teaching asl even if they have those continued hearing difficulties leading to an insult to an entire language/culture and looking at everyone with a above the knee amputation and the special Olympian sprinters and not understanding that it isn’t 100% and something’s still are going to be THEIR normal. And people need to be cool with that like taking cochlear breaks, hating certain sounds 😂, becoming overstimulated and etc. If done to infants they begin to cry a lot because it’s incredibly overwhelming! It’s ok but it’s important to understand like the implants are a treatment option, a tool for those with the hearing disability not like “ah we fixed you, now talk and stop that signing nonsense or adapt to my needs because yours make me uncomfortable” 😅. TLDR; it essentially does the work of the external and middle ear and transmits it directly to her inner ear so her nerves/brain can do the rest of the hearing work!

I’ve been to a race and my goodness they are soo loud I was at the top cause I chose to be there(I was a kid) and it was still sooo loud but awesome and one of the cars caught on fire(they guy was ok)
Do some deaf kids/people feel the vibration specifically in their ears even though they can't hear it? Like when you drive with a window down and you get wawa ears?
Wow..when you watch on tv you don’t get a sense of exactly how fast those cars are ping. They’re like a blur. I’m glad she had fun!

I have, but so surprising yet she loves it! Its a good sport to watch.
How does her cochlea help her hear?💕
It’s like a hearing ade except different
It transforms sounds into vibrations so she can hear. It sounds muffled though
its like if someone said "hi" she hears "bleep" so she has to learn english all over again so she knows what "bleep" or "hi" actually means.
HELP WHY DID I READ IT AS “coochie-ella”😭😭😭

Why is she wearing them when she’s deaf?
It helps her hear better that’s why
@@rafimohammad39no it’s the vibrations that she can hear so the noise canceling headphones blocks it
@@KrissyRoseAnimallover yes that’s what I meant to say thank you for clarifying that I appreciate that
First
@letsgo-byeee did how much fun did you have during the race
