John Wick is an American neo-noir action-thriller media franchise created by screenwriter Derek Kolstad and owned by Summit Entertainment. Keanu Reeves plays John Wick, a retired hitman seeking vengeance for the killing of the dog given to him by his recently deceased wife, and for stealing his car. The franchise began with the release of John Wick in 2014 followed by two sequels, John Wick: Chapter 2 on February 11, 2017, and John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum on May 17, 2019. All three films were considered critical and commercial successes, accumulating a collective gross of more than $587 million worldwide. A fourth installment, John Wick: Chapter 4, is in pre-production and has a release date of May 27, 2022. A fifth installment is also in development, and it will be shot back-to-back with the fourth film in 2021.
John Wick is on the run, being hunted with a $14 million open contract on his life for breaking a foundational rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim, Santino D'Antonio (Riccardo Scamarcio) was a member of the High Table-the organization that ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed but Continental's manager, Winston (Ian McShane), has given him a one-hour grace period before he is "excommunicado"-his membership revoked with him banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses favours and contacts accrued in his former life to stay alive as he fights his way out of New York City. In October 2016, Stahelski announced the development of the third film. The film began production in early 2018.

*Personally, I'd rather them do a prequel movie about his time as a hitman. With added backstories of returning characters and how they met John. And show audiences exactly which "impossible task" that John Wick had to do in order to get out of that life.*
That pitch makes more sense than a run of the mill "Faked His Own Death" scenario. John's life as a hitman before meeting his wife, in my opinion, is the only chapter left to tell!

Film Theory made convincing point at this theory - particularly the wounds he sustained during the duel with Kane. None of the shots he took were fatal. I think John really took the Elder's advice that the only way for him to find peace at that point is through his death - he didn't mention that it has to be real. His dog looking towards the woods at the end of the movie could hint that John may have moved to the woods to live in seclusion.
It would be interesting to see how his legacy could affect their industry, like inspiring more assassins to just leave and avoid being forced into deals and hits they don't want to be involved with, which may then force the high table to take action and hunt deserters down.

John Wick should claim the title, and chair at the high table for the Marquis Gramond and have to prove himself against the vengeance from a single seat holder (the prior Marquis's mentor and master). That would be mint do all three: protecting Caine, and helping Winston and The Bowery King, and mentoring a young protege. Although you could do movies of each of those then combine them ongoing.

After watching the fight on the steps in chapter 4, I firmly believe John Wick is immortal, he survived 4 films worth of stabs, bullets, falls and explosions, and immediately stood up and kept going.
