Did this exact style on freshly washed, wet hair after watching this video a number of times. Thanks so much for uploading!
For those who were wondering, on my low porosity, fine and highly dense hair I used the Shea moisture curl & shine hair milk, some olive oil and a bit of eco styler gel to get the job done. Came out beautifully!

Ashley W Gillett try putting the eco gel, then an oil. So I use eco with argan oil on my sleek low ponytail, so I apply that to the top and then over the gel, I add argan oil and it doesn't go hard or flake or lose any hold.

how do you like grab the edge of the hair then start braiding?

I just grab a small section at the front, separate it into 3 sections braid a little then start adding to it. Hard to explain but i hope that helps. If not, there are tons of in depth braiding videos on CZcams that you could watch too
