    Charlie Ruggles was the CONSUMMATE voiceover......here for Aesop. Also Charlie played Margaret Drysdale's card shark Daddy, on "The Beverly Hillbillies." Loved his character and voice!

    As a child none of gave much thought to the time line of events of this tale of Aesop and Son.
    Nice to relive childhood cartoons. The generation now would not appreciate what these cartoons gave this generation who watched Aesop and Son.
    CZcams is great for a number of things, including this video and others

    It seems like Gerard Baldwin animated this, instead of the usual Gamma Productions----and from what I seem to notice, anything Baldwin animated had more music involved. Never knew the music guy's name....I also wonder why Aesop & Son changed hair color later on to blond (one scene has Son's hair blue here!)....

      This was produced in-house at Jay Ward Productions in Hollywood.

  • @yosefdemby8792
    @yosefdemby8792 Před měsícem

    A lot of people think the crude animation from Gamma gave the earlier Jay Ward shows a charm. In my opinion, however, the animation and artwork done in Hollywood, such as that for this short, easily outshines the outsourced products.

  • @SteveCarras

    I noticed the Farnon music....to add confusion, I have a "Fractured Fairy Tale", "Cinderella Returns", with the John Seely Capitol Hi-Q music (Philip Green's "Custard Pie Capers" used in "Snooper and Blabber") and the "Ugly Duckling" with a melodrama piece oft-used in "Quick Draw McGraw". Regardless ANY music in a Ward production DOES sound odd! There's a Toledo Ohio reference, by the Daws Butler voiced fox, to the birthplace of Daws!

      Not true. The networks, the advertising agency, and the sponsor were all afraid of certain aspects of Ward's shows. The Peabody's Improbable History segments especially spooked them because of the ethnic caricatures, and the lampooning of famous historical figures. They were also concerned about the violence in some of the cartoons.

    I would suggest avoiding all children's programming after about 1998 or so. It has steadily gone downhill ever since the FCC took hold of what children can watch. It will probably never get close to this ever again. I am forever hopeful that we can re-capture the magic somehow, but it does not seem likely in the near future.

    These shorts were basically "Fractured Fairy Tales" given an Aesop flavor. They even had the same theme music! (This particular upload uses the 1961 theme music, just like the DVDs.)

    I'll tell you what happened to shows like these: they were replaced with garbage that little kids watch because most kids these days wouldn't know a good quality cartoon if it leapt up and bit them. of course the people at fault here are the parents who don't show their kids the golden oldies they and their parents grew up watching.

      i think the winking horse is about a conman who knows its a con and lets you in on it wink wink and then meets some mark who can't get conned
      but i am still thinking about this one, which is really convoluted (some are fairly straight forward, not this one!)
