Eric, this is very helpful. I assumed the optical quality would not differ much between the X100VI and the X100V but you clearly show how well the lens resolves the new sensor. And more, how feasible it is to crop to 70mm and still get great images. That, in addition to the IBIS, really sets the X100VI apart.
Hello! Thank you for your comment!
Thanks for these tests. Good to know the lens is so good. I got the X100VI but haven't had a chance to shoot much with it yet, but hopefully next week.
Thank you. Enjoy your camera
Finally a video like this! Much more important, than so many other X100 videos I’ve already seen… and as a V user until around 2 weeks ago and since then a VI user I of course appreciate these results although am not too surprised because it matches my own experiences 😊… well, and I thought in the past already about Qs but had always certain concerns if the quality of the images is really better than from the Fujis and worth the price - am happy, I kept the Fuji way 😂
Hello Jurgens, thank you for your comment! Enjoy your camera!
Excellent & informative review.
Thank you
Sorry the haters may not want to accept but the X100VI does resolve fine detail in all its 40mp glory. It really is that sharp.
Excellent job! would love to see more testing vs the Leica Q2/Q3
Thank you. I also want to make some more.
Would it be possible to run the same tests with the wide angle and tele converters ?
Hello, I hope to be able to get them soon. I am very curious about the results too
Thank you so much for giving us a professional viewpoint of this lens. There was one commentator online saying he sent his back because the lens was ‘rubbish’, given it also has IBIS I think he must have the shakes……😮
Well, some people think an IBIS is like a gimbal LOL. thank you for your comment
Thanks for this! I had been wondering if the Lens could resolve OK as there were other youtubers casting doubts.
Be nice to see you test the buffer also! Found it an odd decision for 2024 for a company to release a card slot that is only UHS1.
Thank you. I will make more tests 😁
Thank you Eric for a really helpful video. Well done. The defraction at f11 and onward may be useful for soft-looking portraits? I have no idea when my pre-ordered VI will arrive (some say June!) but you’ve made me even more excited whilst waiting. Subbed. Greetings from London.
Hello, yes it could but if you want a shallow depth of filed, then it is better to use a mist filter. X100VI deliveries are good bit by bit but they do arrive, I hope yours will be with you soon. Greatings from Tenerife
I don't have Fuji so no dog in the fight but I would think you have to turn off lens corrections to really test the lens, because it fixed I don't know if you can even turn off corrections. I also think it really doesn't matter as ALL brands now use some type of processing to correct and reduce noise, if you like the images from the camera that is what should really matter, don't overthink it✌✌
He used RAW and non processed. This is an optical test not a computer adjusted image. Another expert rates this lens as good as a 35mm F2 Leica. That lens costs multiples of the cost of the X100VI and then you need a body…….
Can you compare it with the X-S20 that has the 26mp sensor with XTRANS 5? and compare their Autofocus performance thanks
Hello. I al getting the 23mm f2 to do that. Thank you for your comment
thanks@@EricGibaud
There is no way that that the Fuji lens is comparable to the Leica 35mm apo.
If you say so…
I don't think you can really test a fixed lens on a camera, all the brands do a lot of processing, NR and corrections I don't use Fuji but can you even turn off lens corrections on the X100? I wouldnt overthink it if the images look good to you just be happy
I can appreciate this review- but it’s flawed in many ways. Your testing chart honestly needs to be replaced with a proper chart. Your cropping in to center sharpness. Most modern lenses will be sharp at f8 in the center. Not saying the Fuji is bad, but it’s no where near the Leica apo. Ken mentioned the asph version, not the apo. Nice work but I’d rework your environment so that it’s consistent and then actually test these cameras consistently if that’s what you’re into.
Hello, as I say, I used a recent chart and results prove the lens is even better than we can appreciate on this chart, but I publish with this one so I could show the comparaison with X100V that were done last year. As I don’t have the X100V, I could not repeat them with my new chart. On the thumbnail you can actually see my new chart.
ok?
LOL
