Thank You & thanks for watching! We try to be as open & honest as possible when reviewing & showing the resorts we visit to help others as much as possible with ensuring they've picked the right place!

Some friends we met while there were in one of the top floors with an ocean view, we meant to get up there to capture their room & view to put in the video, but unfortunately didn't get around to it. We loved Puerto Vallarta, so much to see & do!

Recently stayed at the Hyatt Ziva in Cabo and wanted to research some other high all-inclusive properties. In comparison, this place is a shack. A good review though!

Thanks for watching! From our experience the Sunscape branded resorts are older, & more budget friendly. A great bang for the buck, but you're 100% correct, compared to a lot of others in the World of Hyatt brand, they don't even come close. Our 6 night package last July, flights included, for two people was under $1700US. Really hard to beat at that price for flights, All Inclusive Resort, trip insurance, & transfers.

@@wanderlustwinklers That is a great price! Thank you for this information. I think I’ll save my world of Hyatt points for a different resort.

Thank you for your review. We have been looking for another hotel to check out in PV, the one we normally stay at has raised their pricing far beyond their rating level suggests.
Your review hitnon some key details for us, the WiFi extra charge is an auto no-go for us. On a 3 week stay that just adds up to too much. Also your take on the club upgrade provided information that we were looking for.
And seeing the comments from some others here makes us think that this hotel is experiencing what our current hotel is.
I think we have ruled this place out for our stay in 2024.

Thanks for watching! In this day & age charging extra for WiFi seems extremely petty & unnecessary. The infrastructure is just not that costly to justify an extra charge in our opinions. Fortunately, our cell carrier provides great international data roaming, but it's still a major downfall & turn off when booking resorts that they try to upcharge as much extra as they can. Unfortunately we found out it was not included in Sun Club after we had paid to upgrade, or we wouldn't have done that either, we assumed since it was at Sunscape Akumal, the same would apply for Sunscape Puerto Vallarta. Our mistake for not asking first, but brand uniformity should be a top priority amongst the different AM Resort & World of Hyatt brands. We will likely stay away from their lower tier brands in the future, if not their entire line of Resorts (Dreams, Secrets, Now, Alua, & Zoetry, & Hyatt).

My husband and I are writing to express our disappointment and frustration at the Sunscape Hotel Resort in Puerto Vallarta Mexico, which we stayed from Saturday July 22, 2023 thru Sunday July 30, 2023. We experienced a significant amount of issues during our stay that impacted our overall experience. First during our arrival due to a mishap in the hotel our room was changed, and the room that they upgraded us to had no air conditioning, so we had to move to another room.
In that room the air conditioning unit barely worked, and the water was cold. Next the room that was next door to us ordered room service and the tray of leftover food was left outside their room door the whole week why we were there, causing all types of insects outside our door. Also there are 19 floors in the building that we stayed with three elevators which only one of them worked the whole time we were there, not only was there only one functioning elevator, but it was on the outside in the heat.
Next to the pool, if my husband and I were not wearing water shoes there was no way we would have been able to get inside of the pool, due to the gravel your feet were touching at the bottom, and that ended our pool activity for the rest of the trip. Lastly, the food, although we were not expecting the best, but what resort does not at least serve bacon and sausage for breakfast. We were told by the staff that works the restaurant that they do not serve it because they now cater to Mexican Americans.
This trip has cost us money that was not in our budget, not only did we have to spend money everyday on breakfast, lunch and dinner, we had to find a pool and entertainment outside the resort. We chose this resort , because of the stay we had back in 2017 with our son who is now deceased, he had such a good time there, and the staff was very accommodating to him because of his disability, so we decided to go back to honor him. We know things change with time, but we weren't expecting this on our trip. This makes me want to choose another agency or even find a travel agent to start booking my future trips through, because this was very unacceptable considering the price we paid in money and time.

That's too bad! Sorry to hear about your experience. I believe they're letting the resort go without major maintenance. I think it will probably be rebranded soon & get a full renovation with Hyatt buying the brand. That's what they're doing with Sunscape Akumal now. When we stayed a year ago, there was some dilapidation, but not as bad as you describe! We definitely recommend using a Travel Agent, we book most of our trips through one, & we did our trip to Sunscape, but we didn't choose it due to her recommendation. It was the cheapest, & we leave the resorts quite a bit anyways, so we set our expectations pretty low beforehand.

Muy mal servicio parece que les pide uno regalando las cosas en el desayuno comida y cena se hacen unas filas de espera enormes. La alberca está muy sucia. Que pena aver estado en esta estafa de hotel

    • @wanderlustwinklers
      @wanderlustwinklers  Před 11 měsíci +1

It definitely has room for improvements. At the time we booked it was the cheapest by quite a bit, so our expectations weren't that high & it was our first time in PVR, so I can't compare others there, but both Los Cabos & Riviera Maya had places in a similar price range that were much nicer. It's definitely due for a renovation, which may be coming with Hyatt buying the brand. Sunscape Akumal is undergoing that right now. Sorry your experience was so bad! Thanks for watching.

@@wanderlustwinklers no problem. i used my hyatt points that i had spent a couple years earning and had zero A/C meanwhile 100% humidity and 95 plus temperature. and then had to pay 200 dollars for my guest. I i had known I would have gone down the street and paid 70 dollars at Amapa.
I had no idea that it was a fake Hyatt

@user-cg9tx4sr7e yea World of Hyatt bought Apple Leisure Group, I believe in late 2021, & are slowly changing & remodeling them. They own all Sunscape, Zoetry, Dreams, Secrets, Breathless, Alua, Hyatt Vivid, & the old NOW properties. They seem to be remodeling & rebranding some, & selling off others.. the downside is it seems the ones they haven't started on yet, they're letting fall into disrepair, while still displaying older or enhanced photos online to make them look better than they are unfortunately, & Sunscape was the lowest level even when they were part of AMResorts, when Apple Leisure Group owned them.
