  • Thats really tricky: to 3D motion track a screen replacement to a device like an iPhone or iPad AAAAND to track it to a swiping finger at the same time.
    The first part of my After Effects tutorial is beginner level and is about a simple screen replacement with Mocha AE via motion tracking. In the second part I'm gonna show you how to attach the screen to a finger gesture via expressions and reverse stabilization.
    Credits to AE BLUES who originally came up with this reverse stabilization trick:

    Your intro did a great job at making me think "oh how hard can it be" to "omg i never thought about masking fingers"

      Yeah, masking fingers can be very fiddly 😎

    Logged in to yt just to subscribe to your channel, really good work and great explanation! I will definitely be coming back to see you teach some new techniques! :)
    The only thing is that the part about tracking the swipe made me think is it really worth the time vs just lowering opacity and adjusting the position by hand if u have moving markers?

    • @MichaelPonch
      @MichaelPonch  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks, man 😎You are right. It’ll work by hand in most cases. Just saw it as a technical challenge to solve. However there may be cases where you want to be 100% precise. Capturing all the subtle micro movements.

    Hi, great tutorial, BTW. But I didn't notice how you made the blue markers. Can you please explaine? Thanks

    Thank you for this tutorial!Tell me pls is it absolutely necessary to have cross heads in the corners of green screen for replacing it after??

    • @MichaelPonch
      @MichaelPonch  Před rokem

      Thank you 😊. Not absolutely necessary as long as you can track the corners of the screen. But it must be 3 corners visible at the same time. But if camera and device are fixed you don’t need tracking points at all to replace the screen 😎

    Great Stuff, which green screen app did you use, which provides the blue moving tracking tool ?

    • @MichaelPonch
      @MichaelPonch  Před 3 lety

      Thank you :). To be honest this was stock footage that already came with the greenscreen and the blue markers.

    Thanks for this excellent tutorial! I’m confused about one thing though and maybe I’m just missing something obvious but how are the larger black “X” markers in the corners of the green screen footage staying in the same spot when the screen is swiped, but the smaller blue tracking markers in the middle move along with the finger swipe when the tablet screen was swiped in real life while shooting that footage? Was the tablet screen split into thirds or something, so that the middle part of the screen and the smaller blue tracking marks would react to the swipe but the bigger corner “X” markers would stay in the exact same spots real active to the corners of the actual physical screen on the tablet? Or were the smaller blue tracking marks added digitally in post after the footage was filmed? Sorry if that’s a dumb question but I can’t figure it out. Haha.

    • @MichaelPonch
      @MichaelPonch  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey that’s not a dumb question 😊. I hope I can recall it correctly: The black markers are actually black tape fixed on the screen to make sure that the screen can be tracked properly in case the tablet corners aren’t sufficient for the tracker. The blue markers are within the digital image. Hope that helps. If not I have have to watch my tutorial again 😂

    • @theorcslayer69
      @theorcslayer69 Před 2 lety

      That totally makes sense! Haha. I was watching on my small phone screen and definitely zoomed in as much as I could to try and see if they were done practically or if they were being displayed digitally and I was convinced they were digital and loaded on the device screen 😆. Thanks so much for the super fast reply!

    The part that I wanted to learn, the swiping screen is soo complicated , my God.

    • @MichaelPonch
      @MichaelPonch  Před 3 lety

      Don’t bother. In most cases you can animate the swipe manually. I just wanted to demonstrate the most accurate way 😎

    • @MichaelPonch
      @MichaelPonch  Před 3 lety +1

      @@krishnataveras8734 basically you can follow my tutorial up until 3:35. Then you can animate the y-Position in the website composition via trial and error until the swipe matches the finger movement

      You can use the free ‘Unmult Plugin’. It eliminates all black areas 😎
